Long time, no post. I recently bought a cheap chinese adapter allowing me to use my collection of old K mount lenses on my Canon (T2i). In particular, I was excited to be able to take digital macro photos. I like it.
Found a rz67 pro II at a pawn shop yesterday. I thought I had hit the holy grail until I saw the price tag - $2,500 :(
There are so many pro II outfits on ebay. You can get a decent setup for like $500-700 US Example
So should I buy a 5d mark ii brand new from canon (or refurbished) Or buy cheaper from a reputable seller on ebay? I want to save money but at the same time I want to definitely make a good investment towards quality and warranty

I'm currently strapped for cash and was hoping for a treasure trove. One day, though...
I'm going to stop worrying about getting more gear, and start using my lomo lc-a+ more, try and get some candid shots while out and about this week. If it works out, I am going to get myself a remote flash trigger (something I've been wanting for a long time)

Just bought a Yongnuo 460. It's getting delivered soon. Anyone know a decently sturdy cheap tripod that can hold 3 kilos? I have a Canon EOS 7d with a sigma 70-300 4-5.6, it's about 300 grams.
A lot of tripods should be able to hold that kind of weight. What's your budget?
you do need a collar though
I love it when your lens is bigger than the actual camera. :v: The camera I'm holding, if you're curious.

it was a vivitar 28-200mm FD lens (lol) strapped on a canon 2x-b teleconverter, with an FD to Nex adapter. it was capable of beautiful photos like this [t]http://i.imgur.com/HQR7zYo.jpg[/t]
Not sure what to think of the wooden grip.
I bet you held it by the body-grip only, no lens support, for maximum cringe.
bonus points if it's on a tripod and the camera has a tripod mount that isn't at the optical axis, but all the way on the side where the grip is
Do you guys think it'd be better to buy a 6d body or 7d with a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4.0 L IS USM?
like this
Do you guys think it'd be better to buy a 6d body or 7d with a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4.0 L IS USM?
Depends on what you're trying to do. If you have to ask a question that broad (those are two very different cameras), I don't think you're ready. Honestly you shouldn't buy gear unless you have more of an idea of what you want. I'm saying this to save you buyer's remorse. But to actually give you an answer I'd personally go 6D just for the sensor size.
Fullframe motherfucker. Fuck crop. At least on dslrs.
Ain't nothing wrong with crop. Depends on some fine details of your shooting style whether or not you need full frame or crop.
Fullframe motherfucker. Fuck crop. At least on dslrs.
I like photographing sports. Crop is incredibly useful. And I think I found a nice tripod. Thoughts? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-Star-Tripod-Carry-Case/dp/tech-data/B0000WXD16/ref=de_a_smtd
Those hama tripods are kinda you get what you pay for. Absolutely shitty build quality and they break before you can even use them...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-Star-Tripod-Carry-Case/dp/tech-data/B0000WXD16/ref=de_a_smtd
All those kinds of tripods are pretty bad, probably come out of the same factory in China with slightly different stickers and plastic bits attached. Looks pretty bad. I'd spend some more and your tripod will: 1. Be actually sturdy. 2. Not break at a bad time. 3. Last more than 6 months of normal use. What's your budget? If you only have £15 and you need a tripod right now, then you'll get what you pay for.

I does have decent reviews though, better than anything else in that price range.
Need a few opinions on lenses from people who have hopefully used them. I'm looking to get a decent normal lens under $500 for video on a crop sensor DSLR. I have a 550D and the 50mm f1.8 already, so I'm looking for something in the 28 to 35mm range. Thing is, I'm having trouble deciding what to spend my money on. So far, my options really seem to be Canon's 28 f1.8 as well as their 35 f2, or possibly Sigma's 30 f1.4. The 28mm is what I truly want, but the Sigma is a bit cheaper and it's even faster. I know that you get what you pay for and that it's no Canon, Nikon, or Zeiss glass, but how good (or bad) is the Sigma really, especially for video? Would anyone recommend it, or should I just shell out the extra cash and go for the 28mm?
Repairing my spare Yashica-D's shutter so I can hopefully use it when I make a "frankencamera" with the polaroid back I got. Step 1. Tear down your Yashica-D Step 2. Repair shutter Step 3. Reassemble Yashica-D Step 4. Shutter jams again for some MYSTERIOUS REASON Repeat steps 1. through 4. until you lose your mind Oh, Okay Yashica. You want to play THAT game. Enjoy some camera guts

Generally, I break more things in the process of fixing it, then I have to go back and fix everything else. It's fun though! I've got a Polaroid CB-103 film back coming tomorrow, and I'll hopefully be using the shutter/lens from this Yashica (if I can fix it) as the heart of the franken'camera.
