They are mostly for video cams, they won't work well with aps-c lenses
They are mostly for video cams, they won't work well with aps-c lenses
That reminds me, what's the difference between lenses made for APS-C cameras and regular lenses? Will APS-C lenses vignette on full frame sensors and that's it? Or is there more than that? And are they named after their true focal length, or after the focal length they have on a crop sensor camera? For example, if a 30mm lens is made for APS-C cameras, will it actually be an 18~19mm lens on a full frame camera?

However, if you do get a lens that is specifically made for a crop sensor (such as the Tokina 11mm-16mm), it can and most likely will vignette on a full frame.
They are mostly for video cams, they won't work well with aps-c lenses
so if I duct tape it to my vhs camera lens, would it be good for some sick skateboard footie?
Why the hell would they make the 6D have a maximum shutter speed of 1/4000s? It's the only damn reason I don't want to buy it.
Why the hell would they make the 6D have a maximum shutter speed of 1/4000s? I mean my Pentax K-x had 1/6000s max.

It was the family camera when I was a baby. Considering you can open the film door with your bare hands, no buttons pressed, I don't really want to waste my money testing it out.
Why the hell would they make the 6D have a maximum shutter speed of 1/4000s? It's the only damn reason I don't want to buy it.
why the fuck would you ever need 1/4000s? stop the fuck down, or invest in an ND filter.
Yashica-D 1/500 Master race
I think bopie wins with 1/400 on the RZ.
why the fuck would you ever need 1/4000s? stop the fuck down, or invest in an ND filter.
1/4000 has been good to me for stopping bike jumps in mid air ex: DSC_0340 by Jacob A.
why the fuck would you ever need 1/4000s? stop the fuck down, or invest in an ND filter.
i don't think that's the point. more along the lines of: "hey, i just dropped $1500 into a luxury camera, i should have the option to shoot with my camera without having to stop down, or buying an ND filter, because, y'know, i just dropped $1500 into it." edit: or like, "hey, i wanna shoot at f/1.4, what's the occasion? none of your business, i dropped $1500 into this camera, i should be able to shoot at f/1.4, in broad day-light, at 1/8000th just because i paid $1500 for this camera body, and it should be this "convenient", ya dig?"
Buy a 5dmk2 over the 6d

Idk I've shot at 1.4 in the day on my nex 5 which has 1/4000th an minimum ISO of 200, typically I just overexposed a little. With my a77 having ISO 100 (or ISO 50 god forbid actually using it) and I've never hit 1/8000.
I think bopie wins with 1/400 on the RZ.
Max shutter speed is 1/250 :v: [t]http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g9sT6vjUxKE/T3QXi4er78I/AAAAAAAAAMs/r2ZybRXfZjw/s1600/HexarAF.jpg[/t]
I've used 1/6000 and 1/8000 a couple times. I like having it, and I don't see why a camera such as the 6D shouldn't have it.
I've found myself needing 1/8000 even at 2.0 in conditions like for example the beach. I'd assume the 6D limited to 1/4000 is to keep it from stealing potential 5D3 sales. It's not too expensive to grab an ND if you really need to shoot wider apertures, but it is a pain to carry around filters when you're just out and about. I take my camera everywhere and can't always be assed to carry around filters. Also as a side note ISO 50 is really only useful for shooting in .jpg, if you shoot RAW it's essentially the same as shooting at 100 and dragging down the exposure in post. And maybe it's not totally artificial; from an engineering standpoint maybe a 1/4000 max shutter mechanism is smaller and actually does keep cost and size down. Marketing might try to artificially limit functions/increase profit, but generally Japanese engineers don't waste space.
Shutters are expensive, and they have to be built to different strengths depending on max speeds. Like my minolta 9xi does 1/12000, and it has titanium blades that are very expensive. Aside from the maxxum 9 no camera has had the same speed since, I assume due to cost (and digital not really needing it, it's useful for film because you can use faster film in the daylight and not overexposed). And yes the beach is an area where it's very bright and you can exceed 1/8000. And ISO 50 is just 100 with the exposure changed, I don't recommend it as you lose dynamic range. ND filters can be a hassle and lower image quality. I would recommend just stopping down a little bit and avoiding the hassle

For those wondering well the 7D does 1/8000 for a similar price point, the 6D has to move a much larger shutter.

I wish they made slower speed 35mm film. I love using my film cameras for big apertures but I never can during the day because of older ones maxing at 1/1000 or 1/2000. Then glass is expensive for minolta and they don't have manual focus screens :( I was going to get a samyang 85mm 1.4 to use with it but it would be too hard to nail focus.

I finally went and done it. Decided to buy the Rokinon Cine 35mm. Cannot fucking wait to play with it.

Plus the cost of the initial film is already 4x that of negative film. I can't afford that :/
There are local people still doing it around me, but they charge far too much. Ill do my B+W film myself, but since I dont have a projector I still have to send the negatives out for prints.
Can you guys recommend a good first time camera+objective? I'd prefer something that's decent for both photography and recording movies, and something Canon, but I'm of course flexible since I'd assume you guys know what's best :v:. Price isn't the biggest issue, but not TOO expensive, i'm an amateur, after all.
