It'd be used in a controlled environment in a way, like a music video. So if it does fall out then we could do the scene again.
you have no fucking idea how much 1. time that wastes 2. money that wastes if you're hiring any equipment/people 3. that pisses people off because YOU fucked up. [editline]17th February 2013[/editline] actors can handle fucking a scene up, that happens and the production budgets for you but jobs like camera operator, focus puller, sound etc you get it right first time and every time
What would you recommend instead?
What would you recommend instead?
RODE NTG-2 Zoom H4(n?) portable recorder adapter to mount H4 onto hotshoe 3.5mm - 3.5mm cable this is grand and you don't even need the RODE yet! you mount the H4 onto your camera split the 3.5mm out of the H4, run one to your headphones and the other to the 3.5mm mic jack on your dslr. turn on the H4, press record and you have 1 - audio running into your camera which is nice and clean, 2 - audio being recorded separately and 3 - the ability to monitor it you also have the ability to plug an XLR mic (like the NTG-2) or the line out of a mixing desk into it if doing a live event. yes, it's a greater expense yes it's more complicated but it's higher quality but the ability to expand with you and save you having to buy new stuff over and over again will save you money in the long run [editline]17th February 2013[/editline] it also means if doing a film you can bring in a friend as a boom op, steal a rode ntg-2 and boom pole from uni/college and give them the zoom to record to (which is what i did)
you could get a stereo > mono 3.5mm adapter somewhere give that a go
So this? http://images.rakuten.com/PI/0/500/224922620.jpg
So this? http://images.rakuten.com/PI/0/500/224922620.jpg
that's the bugger
Can't wait for it to arrive. I will either love it or hate it and sell it.

It will be ~37mm on the m8 which is close to 35mm. If I decide to keep the M8 I will also get a 15mm ultra wide heliar for landscape and architecture photography.
That 28mm is a great lens. I got to try the M8 I'm buying a few months back already, and that lens was included with the set i could test (28mm f/2.8, 50mm f/2.5 and 90mm f/2.5). The only lens I'm buying with it though is the 50mm f/2.5 Summarit. Lucky enough I got some other lenses to use it with it directly as well, like my Voigtlander Ultron 35mm f/1.7 which is a great lens too. One thing to point out with the M8 is that if you shoot colour pictures with it you should really use a UV/IR filter on your lenses, otherwise black fabric things will look purple on your pictures. That's because of the IR filter in the camera. Another thing about that is that if you use a B+W 092 or 093 IR filter you have a fully capable infrared camera. Perfect for B&W pictures.

The guy who is selling me the elmarit is including an uv/ir cut filter for free (it wasn't actually included in the deal but I asked him if i could buy it and he said he would just give it to me). I certainly am going to look forward to play around with infrared photography. The summarit 50 is a neat little lens. Would be too narrow for me though.
gonna attempt a camera transplant i've got a zorki 4 that badly needs CLA, but it all still works; the main bad point is that the paint on the outside seems to have somehow gone bad and is in a permanent state of non-dryness, so the whole camera is sticky and the paint can be rubbed off with a fingernail just got another, broken zorki 4 off ebay that has a body that's in a better condition, hopefully this is gonna go well
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0011NVMO8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3DI1PQ3I3V3R1 I was thinking about buying this to replace my crappy 75-300 III. Does anyone have any say in how it is? Think I can find something better for around the same price (I'm cheap as hell)
It's probably okay Typically zoom tele lenses really aren't good until expensive prices
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0011NVMO8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3DI1PQ3I3V3R1 I was thinking about buying this to replace my crappy 75-300 III. For this lens it's really important which camera you use as it doesn't perform the same on high megapixel camera's like the 550/600/600D as it does on lower megapixel camera's as the 1100D. On the low megapixel it's a good lens, but on the 18 megapixel sensors it's not so good as it does not provide enough resolution for the sensor. It's still better than the 75-300mm III lens ofcourse as it provides IS which is extremely helpfull for these telelenses.
My babies: 5D mk II with the 24-105 L f4 35mm f2 50mm f1.4 100mm f2.8 L Macro Sigma 70-200 f2.8 And then the beast at the back is a 7d fitted with a Sigma 150-500 f5-6.3 (+ a 2x teleconverter of which I have 2 to take it up to 2000mm, geat for looking at the moon ... or the next town) (please excuse the camera shake, I had to use a cheap camera as all my good stuff is scattered all over the floor)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0011NVMO8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3DI1PQ3I3V3R1 I was thinking about buying this to replace my crappy 75-300 III. Few things you may want to consider, the 250 obviously doesnt have the same reach as the 300mm but also the 55-250mm is an EF-S mount so if you ever decide to change camera to one that only takes EF mounts this lens will be useless. Try looking at the 70-300mm IS USM, its basically an upgraded version of what you currently have with better optics, image stab and a much better AF system
Holy crap you got more rings than Saturn.
I'm not so sure about that but I wonder if my 2000mm set up will let me see Saturn well enough to check when it's next visible?

And to the comment above you, again the same. I have the 1100D. I'll look into the 70-300mm USM, but the 55-250 was appealing because it allowed for the 55-75mm range that I don't have with the kit 18-55 and 75-300. Thanks guys! <3

Sigma's new 18-250mm macro is supposed to be quite good for a super zoom, but I doubt it would beat a 55-250 at the long end. Alternatively save up for the Tamron 70-300 USD, that's a great zoom
That Sigma looks sexy. I'm not exactly going for zoom, I want to have it in case I need/want it. But realistically that sigma fits the bill perfectly.

But realistically that sigma fits the bill perfectly.

Like all super zoom lenses, the Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM Lens features a to-die-for focal length range. Sigma packages this 13.9x (250mm divided by 18mm) focal length range in a very well built, modestly-sized, reasonably-priced APS-C-only lens with quiet, fast AF and optical stabilization. Image quality is, as usual for a super zoom lens, sacrificed. I have a sigma 70- 300 APO 4 - 5.6. It is amazing.
Nikon releasing new dslr? Does that mean Canon is releasing one too? I heard it's a successor to the 7D. I just bought a 7D and it's coming in the mail as we speak :pwn:
Nikon releasing new dslr? Does that mean Canon is releasing one too? I heard it's a successor to the 7D. I just bought a 7D and it's coming in the mail as we speak :pwn:
Talk is of two new canons this year which will be digic 5 replacements of the 60d and 7d. So far they replaced the digic 4s of the 600d, 5d mk ii & 1d mark iv with the digic 5s of the 650d, 5d mk iii & 1dx as well as adding the 6d to the range. So it makes perfect sense that they update the rest of the range. Im expecting the 60d replacement to keep the same sensor and body, just have better iso performance and a slightly faster fps. Likewise with the 7d replacement expect I reckon that will have dual digic 5s and possibly edge towards 10fps. But you wont be disappointed with your 7d im sure, I wasn't
The 7d will not have 10fps. Are you mental?
The 7d will not have 10fps. Are you mental?
Well in the last generation of cameras the 5d mk ii had just over 4fps. the 1d mk iv had 10fps. And the 7d was designed as a cheaper alternative to the 1 series so had 8fps and a asp-c crop sensor. Now the 5d mk iii has 6fps, the 1dx does 12/14fps so logic would suggest the new 7 will manage around 9/10fps
They will probably have a new sensor for the 70d/7dmk2 as well because its almost 5 years old at this point.
