Change happens, deal with it
this is a very bad and dumb attitude to hold halo had a very distinctive art direction and a coherent, if simple, plot that was enjoyable and connected well with the gameplay and had some pretty firmly established details and then halo 4 happened it essentially was a bad fanfiction made canon. it was dreadful. you can't dismiss that with 'change happens'. they had a very simple and easy job and somehow they fucked it right up.

I'm sorry then I get aggressive about these things
Please come to pc
fire whoever's responsible for those shaders, the armor looks like cosplay plastic
Dude no its awesome automotive paint renders, makes chief look fast [T]http://www.paintforcars.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/ferrari-dino18838.jpg[/T] But in seriousness you can change the glossiness with a single texture map (roughness or metallic values in UE4, dunno about what this is made in) so the shader is probaby fine. I mean look at the gun, if it was the shader the gun would also be glossy (yeah it looks plasticy but modern guns are equal parts alloy and polymer anyway because muh space age) Fire the texture artist.
Halo 2 Anniversary was much better though, but that was done by Saber Interactive.
So was Halo 1 Anniversary [editline]31st March 2015[/editline]
I'll give complaints to CE that, Keys's new face model is irritatingly different
That is how he looked in Reach, they just ripped the model from there. So blame Bungie for the face change :v: and then blame 343/Saber Interactive for using it. Reach: [t]http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101019002058/halo/images/e/e6/Keyes.png[/t] Halo CEA: [t]http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20121013013812/halo/images/9/99/HCEA_Capt_Keyes.png[/t]
They should stop making Halo games already, they're just milking it now.
Why do you think 343 is making them then, much less why Microsoft is having them make more? Master Chief and the Halo series are the mascot franchise, the 'Mario', for Xbox as a whole. We should feel lucky people can make all sorts of shit in Forge mode since 3, or else we'd have Halo Kinect Golf or some shit
I remember being young and being sad that Halo was ending at 3, but I was satisfied that the series was ending on a high note. Oh how those were better days.
Like I said it's probably just the weird shading/lighting. They ported the model from Reach to a different engine that doesn't have the same capabilities so maybe that's part of why it happened too?
Not to mention his facial animations were incredibly stiff.
Not to mention his facial animations were incredibly stiff.
That's to be expected, really; they had to work within the constraints of Halo 1 while slapping a second set of graphics ontop of the game, and Halo 1 didn't really have facial animations besides lip motions akin to Half-Life 1. When you have a higher detail model, even if you can improve the animations a factor like that will always make it look weird.
OK I'm intrigued, to see if they are going as deep into this as I'd like them too. [sp] What with the extended universe showing off the inner politics of the UNSC, ONI and the Human Rebels they were quashing before the covenant, throw into that the questionable ethics / morals of the spartan program, wonder what MC thinks of it all now his guide and mentor is out of the picture. I mean I honestly don't think MC has gone of the rails nor is he the bad guy, but i do wonder if he's gone a bit rogue trooper and this locke guy is sent to bring him in [/sp]
I think the plot with Cortana in Halo 4 was a bit melodramatic, but the plot for Halo 5 definitely looks like it is going to resemble the Bungie titles more than Halo 4 did.
Case in point i said "They" and not Bungie. But Jesus imagine freaking Halo Golf
Imagine you say?
Imagine you say?
oh ya... didn't they also have a gigantic soccer ball on the bridge level in halo 2, i remember being able to bash it with wraiths
My name is Locke. Pronounced Lock-ee 95% of people call me Lock when that's not what it is thanks 343 you pooplords
saw this on imgur today. locke shows friendly on chiefs HUD while the chief isn't on locke's
Chief's got more ammo too, so fans that get all butthurt about Locke even being implied to kick Chief's ass can say he kicked Locke's better.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but Locke's hud shows a BR when he's really holding a DMR.
Whoever makes these CGI things hasn't been doing too good with the details...
I think they may have done it on purpose because of the whole "truth" thing.
I don't really like this tbh, I mean I like getting a darker story but this one is revolved against some character who hasn't been in a Halo game yet from a lame action series that didn't even show him do any beefy combat skills, just literally hiding from a man-eating worm. It just irritates me how 343 just randomly popped him up in there to come after Chief for a shitty "wow cool edgy" ploy.

Out of nowhere they brought in this new character that we were suddenly supposed to care about, even though he was out for chief's blood, and it worked. Arby ended up being a fan favorite.

Yeah, I remember when Halo 2 came out I was the only one of my friends who thought the arbiter sections were cool.
the main thing i think is really terrible about the new armor designs is that 90% of them is just the undersuit and the rest is just boxes added on top. it makes everything look both flimsy and awkward, like it doesn't really fit? even when redoing previous designs they felt the need to add this and it just looks awful and i don't know if this is just me or what, but it all seems strangely designed for your eyes to flow down and pool around your character's unarmored hips, crotch, thighs, and weird high-heeled boots. like they based their powered armor off of BDSM gear or something.
its an anomaly of "Better hardware therefore everything HAS TO LOOK MORE COMPLEX" instead of just making it only a little more high detail they go all out. They want to make it look "New".

The shell is being fired out of the fucking barrel...
Actually the sniper in Halo fires sabot rounds so that part isn't totally wrong(still wrong in the sense that the shell isn't splitting apart correctly). The bullet itself is the one that's incorrect.
Ninja'd by lonefirewarrior. I was just about to say the exact same thing. The Halo sniper rifle has been firing APFSDS (Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot) rounds ever since the first Halo. I mean, the Halo trailer didn't really have a good visualization of what it's supposed to look like, but they had the right idea.
saw this on imgur today. locke shows friendly on chiefs HUD while the chief isn't on locke's
Since the HUDs show motion detectors, not maps, wouldn't that just mean that Locke was still moving when you Chief's HUD, whereas Chief must have been totally still in Locke's video?
Yeah, I remember when Halo 2 came out I was the only one of my friends who thought the arbiter sections were cool.
The arbiter sections were the coolest part. You're playing as some badass black ops alien sent to crush some rebels then the flood appear and the whole station goes to shit. The level where you first fight the flood as chief was pretty cool too, the infected marines looked grotesque
