I'll do my first "big boy" job (I previously worked in bagging groceries and getting carts prior to this experience): Job summary: Sales Associate in the Sporting Goods department of Walmart. I sold guns and got to talk to a lot of rednecks during the ammo shortage crisis that is still ongoing Interview type: Interviewed by 2 different managers, discussed pay and such with the HR Manager, followed by an 8 hour orientation and another 8 hours of computer based learning (which was super outdated, the cash register layout was completely changed the previous year) Highlight of the day: Realizing that I got a job that I wasn't expecting to get. I applied for one specific position out of a huge list. Opinions of the interview: They were very professional, despite my Zone Manager turning out to be one of the less pleasant people I've experienced I worked there from November 2012 until March 2013, and quit due to mounting pressures at school.
I've got my phone interview for HSBC in an hour, it's for a premier banking associate (posh way of saying call centre drone). Money's good though, £350 a week. Hope I get it.
Job Summary: Disc Jockey (DJ) for a small time Event Organizer Interview Type: One on one interview with the head of the EO Highlight of the day: Meeting the head of the EO at a bar and had a a long talk and had beers together. Opinions of Interview: Really chill but professional guy, Got in the Event Organizer / Management and played a few gigs before there was some drama amongst the guys and the EO is dead now.
HSBC Phone Interview: Lies, lies, lies and more lies. But believable lies.
Job summary: HVAC Technician in a remote area Interview type: over the phone Highlight of the day: seeing people happy that they can take shelter from the intense heat of the pilbara Opinions of the interview:incredibly easy considering they gave me a free house and ridiculous amounts of money
Most recently (Yesterday) I worked at a pub as a dishwasher. There was literally no interview involved. My friend works there and told me to come in, and now I am working there rostered with three shifts a week. $20 an hour, +25% after 7pm. Otherwise I'll list my interviews in descending order from my last few jobs. Job summary: Salesperson at Dick Smith Electronics Interview type: One on one interview Highlight of the day: The questions were fairly straight forward. Such as "Out of 10, how important is customer service?". Opinions of the interview: I think I handled it well, though my first impressions was that no one really knew anything about electronics and they were all just salespeople. Outcome: Got the job. (Been working there the last two years and have since become weekend manager.) Job summary: Deli positon at Coles supermarket Interview type: One on one Highlight of the day: The opportunity at having a chance for a job. Opinions of the interview: Honestly the whole interview I think I handled fairly well and maturely, though I had the feeling they didn't like me instantaneously. No real highlight. Outcome: Didn't get the job. (They never called me back) Job summary: KFC Cook Interview type: One on one Highlight of the day: It appeared the manager was fairly keen in hiring me and overall the interview questions were fairly straight forward. Opinions of the interview: The interview went for almost 40 minutes, which was very lengthy but overall it wasn't a bad interview. Outcome: Got the job, worked there for a year.
So I've got an interview/selection event thing tomorrow for HSBC. Result.
Job summary: Walmart Canada Overnight Stocker Interview type: 2 Managers interviewing me at separate times. Highlight of the day: It sounded like they were very interested in hiring me, part time as a overnight stocker which I was surprised to since I was very nervous. Opinions of the interview: The interview was very chill, really easy questions, took less than an hour and the one manager actually helped me with some of the questions I had trouble understanding. The only thing I saw that was wrong is that they forgot to show me the hourly rates($10.10+$1.00), but they managed to call me back to the room and apologized for forgetting. They then told me the next step was the CBLs (computer training). Outcome: Not exactly sure yet, they said they would call me back after verifying my criminal record is clean and after they checked my references. I'll edit this post with the finale.
Job summary: Drug Dealer Interview type: One on One interview with supervising associates Highlight of the day: Smoking the guys personal stash, brandishing weapons Opinions of the interview: Intimidating at first, I was given the run down on traffic stops. Advice on how to stash and get rid of evidence. I even received a dvd and some free weed. 2 charges of possession of drug paraphenlia later i'm happily making 200-300$ a day delivering baggies.
Got an interview at Dairy Queen tomorrow. I applied to the one right next to my house, but got a call back from one nine miles from where I live.. It's only a 20 minute drive and it is better than being unemployed, so I'm gonna go for it anyway :v:
Gee, I failed the Walmart assessment. I don't even know man, I just need to rethink my life now. I might just move away or something, that was painful to hear.
