how do you sneak in snow?
That's a good question. Maybe rake over the snow behind you if possible?
how do you sneak in snow?
Crawling really slowly.
how do you sneak in snow?
There are a couple ways but none of them work really well. You can cover your tracks as you go, but thats often pretty difficult. Or you can crawl really slow and low to ground. You may not be able to be seen from a distance, but you leave a giant trail behind you. Lastly if you know your being followed, you can try and make your tracks confusing. Even walking backwards can confuse people.
Don't wear black? Fuck. Like half the shirts I have are black.
I always have a campout in Feb/March (which means snow, and lots of it, in South Dakota) called Mafeking, and a large percentage of the time on the first night involves sneaking around in the snow. However, time is a factor as well, and I seem to always move towards making a good time rather than trying to not let the snow crunch under my footfalls.

Noise would be the biggest issue, the "Roving Patrols" don't care so much for tracks.
I used to always go over to my friends house and when I slept over, we had to be dead silent, so getting food at night required us to be so damn quiet.
When he finally came over to my house, we stealth sneaked upstairs, be absolutely silent, and (me knowing that the rest of my family can't hear from their rooms) just dropped the whole stealth thing and opened some chip bags, cans of pop and used the microwave for popcorn. His face was priceless.
there is also tracking so there is two fundamentals : awareness and tracking
awareness refers to locating a trail by paying careful attention to your surroundings
tracking means to follow that trail, your targets trail could be foot prints, a broken branch, bent grass underneath, ect.feel for theis things. sound, touch, smell, the direction of the wind.
watch how the animals move, for unusual bird calls,
thees are all signs that someone is disturbing the environment
after all nature is not quiet
my stealth games are more advance we use paintball markers and 5 acre fields/forest so thous skills are vital for my games also
remember your opponent will be doing the same thing if you do this

God damn are you tracking Naomi?
This reminds me of one time I tried to be sneaky while playing hide and seek.
I tried to distract a friend who was looking for me by throwing a small rock over a hedge I was hiding behind.
Unfortunately, it hit him in the face. He didn't see me, but when I noticed what happened I quickly came out of my hiding place and helped him, cause he was bleeding from the nose.
So much for stealth.
So, the lesson is: If you hurt their eyes they can't see you. :v:

haha what ridden said is true and that's the most simple way to explain it,
but useing that with stealth is a fun thing to do
Just wanted to point out to OP that there is one very important detail about stealth, and it is the attitude of the people you're trying to fool. They may be looking for you or not.
Here's how this matters :
Playing paintball, knowing where the opponents are is important, but there's no question about the existence of opponents and their intentions, so you're going to be on the lookout, alert to all movement and you're going to react to all stimuli.
Playing live-action roleplay and going to steal an artifact, your opponents don't know that their artifact is the object of a carefully devised plan, nor do they even know that a bunch of poorly dressed dudes just breached their perimeter.
If the opponent knows you're there, it might be harder to fool him because he'll be actively looking for you, but since he knows you're there, alerting him to general activity is OK, as long as you don't give away your position, so you can leave bodies where they dropped and throw stones to trees further away to distract people, for example.
If the opponent is oblivious to your presence, you want it to stay that way, but he might disregard some random movement and noise as "just my mates walking around". You can't distract a guard by making noise elsewhere, since he'll either not care, or he'll suddenly be alerted to your presence and start looking for you. And I don't think I need to talk about the shitstorm that will unfold if they find a dead guard slopped over a fence near the treasure room.
I think this is a major part of deciding on stealth actions. Another advanted of the enemy not knowing you're around is that you can take your time and just wait in a good hiding spot.
If its part of a bigger scheme. Just sitting and hiding does not mean a whole lot, where as taking cover somewhere to avoid someone seeing you, then continuing on being unseen is very stealthy. Or hiding in plain sight is pretty stealthy. Closets not as much.
The closet had no doors and it was more of a "indent" in the room where they put their clothes. I more of less hiding behind the corner. It was also pretty tricky getting up there without getting seen since all of our stairs are made of wood.
Always remember to meow like a cat so your other friends know you're there.
Always remember to meow like a cat so your other friends know you're there.
We used to do this in high school and it drove teachers nuts. They also wrote, "meowing" on the office slips and the principle would look at us and say, "you were meowing in class..?" and let us go back. :v:

I was actually referencing MGS3, but okay :v:

I've developed my own stealth skills over the years, and they're so effective that I can sneak up on people easily in a well-lit, wide-open space.
how do you sneak in snow?
If sneaking after a person, motion your legs with his. Do each step at the same time he does. Pretty simple, so he won't hear your footsteps.

This includes pretty much every stealth.
This includes pretty much every stealth.
It's more vital during snow when every step does noise. You can be silent while going on asphalt, but doing swift and silent moves during winter on snow is near impossible.

Especially with a lot of snow. We tried that once when the snow was up to our knees and we lift massive body sized tracks from us falling in the snow. Then again slow and quiet is always best in stealthy situations, never rush it.
I remember using stealth to scare the shit out of my friend when he was playing Amnesia :v:
Snuck around the corner on my stomach, slowly creeping along. There is a TV on a ledge up to my side, he turns and looks at the TV, I'm right beneath it, he turns and keeps playing. From there I slowly worked my way to right up behind him, rose up like a snake or some shit, and screamed "HOLY SHIT LOOK OUT!" at the top of my lunges when was hiding in a corner. He shit himself and screamed and jumped like 10 feet in the air.
I'm naturally stealthy as fuck i can go through a crowd without notice AND get through the house unheard. I'm so stealthy somehow that when i'm out i have to clap my feet down hard for the person i'm with to find me.
Also, another tip. Check your corners and stay frosty.
While playing airsoft I literally low crawled for five minutes in the darkest part of the field to the enemy base, carefully jumping in through a window once I got to it's walls. I single handedly got out everyone in the base, shooting a guy as I came in and taking out 2 more via "bang-outs" as they came down the stairs that led to the tower, I only died when one last guy came around the corner and we both said bang at the same time, being the honorable gentlemen we are, we both decided to get out. I wasn't detected at any point besides when I got out and only fired a single shot the entire game.
am i stealthy
Played some greenman game last night. Went to a house with no furniture so we made our own.
I always play this in my head whenever I prowl around in the dark. Hell anything from Chaos Theory is awesome. (Amon Tobin is a genius.)

Socks on concrete will always be quitter than walking on grass, IMO.
I've been thinking about sneaking around the downtown area of my city late at night, just for fun. I've never really explored it, just drove through it. Might be neat finding secret alley ways or ways to get onto rooftops.
