I hate when I get to threads too late to make any meaningful contributions :( I guess i'll just sum up my feelings in a sentence or two. I kinda agree with the OP. I was "bullied" all the way from elementary school to high school. But it's because I was a fat hunch-backed egotistical anti-social prick. Just look at my posts circa 06-09. It's all right there lol. I used to get food thrown at me, shit jacked from me, hair pulled, spitballs shot at me, all sorts of names. I used to know this girl I was trying to get with who would stick plastic knives in my arm. I just kinda sat there and took it. This isn't a sentence or two fuck D: Anyways, I eventually got sick of it all, discovered self-confidence, gave everything the finger and made myself a decent human being. Kids pick on other kids for their inadequacies. I saw those inadequacies in myself and bettered myself. It's good to recognize your own flaws and realize your place in relation to those around you.
Holy shit OP is a Darwinist just by reading from the first paragraph. [editline]22nd April 2011[/editline] The fact that you claim that 'bullying' aspects happen everywhere in the world and all the time does not justify the acceptance of bullying in schools. Children learn to become adults in schools and if we continue to lower the amount of children being bullied and being teased, they would certainly turn into better adults and this world would have a lot less people calling each other names
Right, you can only push people so far before they at least try to fight back though.
With a glock
Another one with a degenerate attitude, I really never guessed there would be so many on this forum.
don't call me a degenerate that's hardcore bullying and I think I'm just going to kill myself now you know the saying, sticks and stones may break my bones but words are totally worth committing suicide over :downs:
Sticks and stones may break my bones but- HOLY SHIT HE JUST CALLED ME A NAME ASSOCIATED WITH A NATIONAL MINORITY. BETTER CONTACT EVERY NEWSPAPER AND COMPLAIN.
Anyways, I eventually got sick of it all, discovered self-confidence, gave everything the finger and made myself a decent human being. Kids pick on other kids for their inadequacies. I saw those inadequacies in myself and bettered myself. It's good to recognize your own flaws and realize your place in relation to those around you.
So someone's flaw can be gender or race. Is that an inadequacy? Sure you have to recognize what's caused your problems and find ways to solve it, but somethings just can't be changed. Honestly, while being bullied for physical features can be just as detrimental, at least you can change them without undergoing drastic methods.
Having someone tell you over and over that you're no good, are worth nothing, are stupid or dumb, and that you're too different for anyone to ever like you tends to affect your self esteem.
You're a stupid, no-good, worthless mod and you're different from everyone else!
Having someone tell you over and over that you're no good, are worth nothing, are stupid or dumb, and that you're too different for anyone to ever like you tends to affect your self esteem.
Haha I tell myself that everyday. It helps to keep my ego from growing.
Having someone tell you over and over that you're no good, are worth nothing, are stupid or dumb, and that you're too different for anyone to ever like you tends to affect your self esteem.
way I see it there are three options 1. stand up and stop it 2. blend in and stop it 3. do nothing and take it don't give me the "some people can't do 1 or 2 and they just can't because um yeah so it's sad and they're sad and you should feel sad for them" touchy feely shit please, obviously there are special cases (race, gender, retardations (fuck euphemisms)) where people can't do 2 but 1 and 3 are always available

Or maybe the people that are supposed to be able to help you just ignore you instead. And 2 won't work if the bullies actually, oh, you know, remember names and faces. Or they continue to make fun of you, or if the only way to 'blend in' would be to lose a major part of yourself, or accept abuse still. And 3 sure as fuck won't work if you're actually bothered by people doing cruel things to you. Consciously OR subconsciously.

They don't have the instant reaction of "well I'll prove them wrong". They figure that if someone is constantly saying something about them then it could very well be true. That's when their self esteem fails and they end up doing something bad.
Dealing with bullies is like dealing with women. Arrogance. Don't fuck around with them. Show them who's boss and they'll leave you alone. True story - ballsy freshman kid stares me down in the hall like he thinks he's cool or something. I glare at him, give him the ol' "the fuck you lookin at, kid?" and well he didn't make eye contact with me anymore. I put him in his place and it wasn't a problem. That's why bullies do what they do - their prey is EASY to attack.
You can make your dumb generalizations all you want, but some people aren't in a position to stand up to bullies
just because someones opinion is different then yours doesn't make it dumb i have been bullied and i don't care about it, i understand some people cant take it or don't feel they can get away from it. i feel they should suck it up but like you said, not everyone can. but bullying can be a good thing because it can teach a kid how to tell someone to eff off since their opinion doesn't matter correct me or question me if i don't make sense somewhere, just trying to give a voice for both sides.
You are lying to yourself or just really blind if you think emotional bullying doesn't affect people negatively, too - in some cases more profoundly than physical bullying.
You are lying to yourself or just really blind if you think emotional bullying doesn't affect people negatively, too - in some cases more profoundly than physical bullying.
if thats a response to me, thats literally what happened to me, picked on but not really beaten up. then again i almost snapped the kids arm before.

Yeah, it's your opinion; when I call it dumb I'm saying it's a misinformed opinion, or one that came about as the result of a shitty thought process. That said, just because you didn't care about being bullied doesn't mean others don't. You are not the "bullied people of Earth" spokesperson. Some people handle bullying better than others, but in all cases it's bad. Bullying is never a good thing. Whatever bravado a bullied person might gain in standing up to a bully isn't worth the emotional damage done by bullies, nor the all-too-real possibility of physical damage.
Sticks and stones may break my bones but- HOLY SHIT HE JUST CALLED ME A NAME ASSOCIATED WITH A NATIONAL MINORITY. BETTER CONTACT EVERY NEWSPAPER AND COMPLAIN.
I'm sure as you're a straight white middle class male you've never had to face anything like this. While, yes, its better to ignore people putting you down for race and ethnicity (hell, I usually find it funny), hearing people call you inferior everyday just because "you're race/gender/ethnicity/whatever is just inferior to white/male/straight because I said so" can definitely have an impact on someone. People learn through reinforcement, if it happens at a young age it can be hard to remove beliefs from someone. Just look at brainwashing in some bible camps. I find that mental problems are a lot worse than physical ones. If someone gets a physical cut or a bruise it'll heal even on its own. A mental wound festers internally until the person who has it speaks out to someone. It consumes the victim in either hatred or fear or both of the oppressor and it is possible for them to last forever. On a side note: I also like when some white people complain about racism or even worse "reverse" racism. If you tell everyone else to suck it up, they should follow their own advice.

Hunting is an instinct for most wild animals, so I guess foxes are bullying mice.
You know when bullying has gone too far when you start receiving death threats in the 8th grade. Yes that did happen to me. Yes it was extremely scarring. No there was absolutely nothing I could do to stop it. I was told not to come back to school by the principal because he even feared for my life.
And to those posting columbine videos, derp herp when you make fun of a psycopath of course crazy shit is gonna happen.
except he wasn't a psychopath before he got bullied
pretty much, kids made fun of me when i was younger, i just started to not give a fuck what people think. now i made myself fingerless ducttape gloves and wear my gaming headphones around school. not a single fuck was given that day. or any of those weeks for the matter [editline]22nd April 2011[/editline] then find someone with common interests? fuck ill be honest, i got a handfull of good friends like i bet many people here do. you dont need 100 pointless friends. 5 good ones will be much better in the long run.
You thick cunt Can't you see he has no confidence?

I never got shit for being white or a dude lol
But according to the OP that's a good thing and you getting death threats was supposed to be a vital part of your life!
And the OP is a massive idiot. School for me was a way to get away from the things at home as my mom had cancer and me and my sister had to take care of her almost every day until she died. That was our only exit to get away from that and trust me, it isn't fun watching your mother die in front of your eyes for 6 years when you cant do shit because she has given up trying to get rid of it because it keeps coming back. No there was no one else to help out, she didn't enter hospice until 3 months before she died. My grandma was the only other person who could help and even then it was not every day. That fucking bullying only made things worse and I have flashbacks and other shit from all the fucking PTSD that requires either years of therapy or EMDR to help me get through it all so these flashbacks don't just simply shut me down.
