Honestly though, people are assholes but that shouldn't be used as an excuse for anything. Especially not as to why they are dicks to unfortunate fellows.
There is a massive difference between considering something and doing something. How many times have you been talking to someone and thought "I want to punch them in the face so fucking bad?" How many times have you actually done it?
Bully any normal person enough and they'll probably retaliate eventually. The difference between a normal person retaliating and a psychopathic one retaliating is premeditation. The kid that body slammed the bully didn't walk around thinking "Oh yeah, I'm gonna slam his ass the next time he picks on me." It was an impulse reaction out of reaching his breaking point. Perfectly normal.
Anyone that goes home and plans out how they're going to shoot up the school and everything is a psychopath that is going to do something retarded in their life regardless of whether they are bullied or not. You blame your PTS and considering the brinding of a knife to school on bullying, I blame it on your lack of drive to get help and/or the failure of your parents to talk things out with you.
Everyone has problems in life. Plenty of people are bullied every day, it's how they handle it that shows what kind of person they are. A broken normal person will seek help from friends, family, or professionals. A broken psychopathic person will seek to shoot up a school and/or end their own life.
Plenty of people try to pull the defense "Well you've never been broken like that so hurr you can't know what it's like," assuming that being suicidal and/or wanting to inflict violence on others is completely normal from a person who has been picked on. No, wrong, it isn't. Normal people get broken every day and they handle it in normal ways. Anyone that takes an extreme illogical action such as killing themselves or others due to something as trivial as bullying is clearly fucked up. Having your spirits broken and being psychopathic do not run hand-in-hand.
I stopped reading when you called me a psychopath. I sued my school and the matter was settled outside of court. Think about what that means.
Honestly, I can't tell you if I did bring a knife to school or what stopped me because there is a blank spot in my memories. Of the 5 years I can only physically remember half
It's funny because psychiatrists not only have no other data than what you tell them but are also not about to tell someone "you're fine" because they won't make any money from that person.
If you go to a doctor/psychiatrist/whatever, they are going to tell you that something is wrong with you. If you tell them "Oh yeah, my life is totally normal except for these fucking BULLIES OMG MOTHERFUCKERS FUCKING HATE THEM I WANT THEM TO DIE," then they're going to say the cause of your troubles is the bullies.
Is it really that damn bad? What, you get called names every once in a while? Nobody talks to you? Boo fucking hoo, welcome to the party. When I was bullied in middle school, the guys on the football team wouldn't let me drink water at practice. Mix that with the hot texas weather and I was dehydrated/suffering from heat exhaustion almost every day. They'd steal food off of my lunch tray so I didn't get to eat much either. The name calling and ostracization were just cherries on top.
I didn't just "get over it" or whatever, I found support in my friends and family. Weathered the storm until high school rolled along. I never even retaliated. It wasn't easy, but I knew middle school was only 3 years of my life, it wasn't the end of the world if only 2-3 people talked to me for 3 years.
That's how a normal person handles a problem like that. They look at the situation and analyze just how big of a deal it is. That's why adults don't kill themselves when their ipods are stolen, they're able to see the big picture and understand that something so small isn't worth getting worked up over. It's fucking retarded when kids roll in here spouting "YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND MY PAIN WAAAAH" because you think you're the only person who has ever felt that way. You think you're the only person who has ever gone through what you're going through. You think everyone and anyone could be put in your situation and they'd be just as much of a pussy. Well you're wrong. If you've developed all kinds of problems and have considered bringing a knife to school just because some fuckers pick on you, you are not normal. Find some real help instead of trying to justify your fucked up feelings.

Sadly, not everyone is normal. Some people are not normal because of their (family) background, while others are not normal because they're damaged goods, as a result of constant incessant bullying.
Some people may be able to get over it themselves does not mean we should attempt to protect all from bullying.

I clearly remember an incident where I beat them verbally then they made it physical by getting 4 to hold me down while the rest jumped of a wheelchair onto me, until they didn't need anyone to hold me down. Afterwards they put dirt on me "so it looks like the shitbag had a fall". I had to pick up rubbish for being late
deciding you should bring a knife to school (and presumably, stab a/several bully/ies) is psychopathic, yes
It was a direct result of the bullying. Their psychiatrist even said that.
and a knife to the gut is the only way to solve that? that's totally normal? did you do anything to provoke them or did they just form a five or six man team to beat you within an inch of your life for fun?
chances are your dad will tell you "man the fuck up" more often than your mom
so basically you should talk to your mother 9 times out of 10
Handling bullying like a normal person (getting in simple fistfights or putting the bully in their place verbally) is healthy for you, just sitting and letting the bully have his way is not. Do you get it now?
I wasn't aware getting into fucking fistfights was normal behavior, especially in the case of people that can't fight multiple people. When most schools suspend you if you defend yourself, you're bound not to do anything if you care about your schoolwork. And sure, your grades won't plummet if you miss a few days, but it's the principle of the thing more than anything else. I tried standing up for myself against a bully once, and before I even managed to do anything he ran to the office and reported it, getting me suspended. The only time I could even manage to stand up to a bully was when I used to go to a Chinese after-school program where half the damn teachers were unlicensed and no one gave a shit.

The schools have things in place to *attempt* to limit things like this but they dont do fuck nothing. They dont give a damn at all until someone threatens someone elses life.
That is where the problem is. They wait and wait and wait until either someone makes a threat or until someone dies.

Fuck it. Time to say something, this is quite deep... for facepunch at least.
I was bullied in middle school. It was horrible. I lived in spain at the time and the entire class (being spanish) ganged up against me. I was british, quiet, couldn't speak the linguo and was middle class. This was a private english school in spain. They were all rich, spoke spanish and were loud. I wasn't allowed to play football with them, I was called names etc all the time in school. Not just occasionly, but whenever I opened my mouth the insults would come flooding in from every direction. My stuff was stolen, I was hit occaisonly and I still have several scars on my back from when I was pulled across the concrete in the playground. They also played a game called "doggypile" where everyone would jump on me. Imagine that, for a seven year old boy in a funny country to deal with. It was like hell and don't think I'm overexaggerating. If you do, screw you. It was pure pain.
Move forward to high school. Back in Britian. My four years in spain had made me quiet and I had withdrawn inside myself. Confidence was at an all time low. I left Spain with deep scars (and not jsut the ones down my back). I was still alone and thought I was useless and a freak, but slowly, ever so slowly things got better and made me the man I am today. I made friends, got into videogames, played warhammer and made a nice social life for myself. I was content and after much convincing by friends and family (I was aged 12 now) I saw my worth.
Fast forward to today. I look back and realised how quickly I aged and matured during that time. I also increased my intellectual sphere as I read books to replace human contact. I became knowladgeable and aced school. Now I look forward and want an English degree when I get out of sixth form.
The bullying was horrible and I still carry soem festering mental scars today but with the help of my family and friends I got through it (I had four friends in Spain, all english and in the year below me). Bullying affected me throughtout my younger years and still affect me now. But I'm older and more mature now. In a way, the bullying prepared me for the real world, where some pople are massive pricks.
No one likes bullying and I would see it wiped out. Anyone who condones bullying is a fag and was probably a bully themself at one point. I find it strange how no one sees the value in everyone, differnet skills and feelings. The people around us are the fabric of society and everyone should be treated fairly and not be discriminated agaisnt.
Fuck you Alexandro, Carlos, Carlos B and Jose. I cannot put my hatred into words.
if you want the bullying to continue yes
Oh ok. I didnt realise that their psychiatrist only gets paid if he says I'm fucked up. This was for a lawsuit, they get paid eitherway.
And I also didn't realise that a known sociopath who openly admitted to it is qualified to tell me I was fucked from the start just like hitler.
Get over yourself, you don't realise that when you do a full psyche analysis on someone and your results are exactly sane as 2 independent psychiatrists you have had no contact with, you can be sure that your results are correct.
Hopefully one day you'll read and realise that numerous people have pointed out that no case is the same.

Also, I don't know about you, but I didn't really have the strength or ability to challenge the kid to a fight outside school.
Second one, and you're really SOL if you aren't physically capable of beating them head-on, but you can still surprise them or even just bluff
I've been in track since seventh grade, back in Poland, it built me up and before we left I faced my bullies, gave every one of the fuckers a black eye or a missing tooth and now apparently they've all stopped

10 man team when you add the main bullies up.
I did nothing to provoke it. The only thing that anyone involved, including the principal, can think of is me not going to the schools preschool whereas most of the grade did.
There lack of any action is well documented by them, they even said they can't find a cause for it. A teacher did say that she heard them talking about me and how I was a stranger and therefore less than them, which is why they believe that.

The moral of the post? If you can't beat them, you're fucked. Brilliant
I never said my argument encompassed every situation and I've said several times already that if you're incapable of physical confrontation you need to get help, whether it's a teacher or a parent or a few friends to help you kick their asses
I've also said that extreme cases of bullying are bad and only the very mild stuff should be let go, can you please tell me you've read and understand this? Because it seems like you're ignoring that on purpose
Bullying is done by cowardly twats with no other way to boost themselves up the pecking order and stay far enough up the food chain to not be bullied themselves other than to get their kicks by making someone else feel bad.
You can dress it up any way you like but the lack of grace to not just leave other people alone and not be a total asshole is a failing in that person and not doing someone else a favour by helping their mental development or teaching them life skills
End of.
