In Estonia a few days ago the snow started to melt, but the temperature cooled down again causing the unfrozen snow(or water) to harden and now there is ICE FUCKING EVERYWHERE! and guess what school is still open i wonder how many people have fallen on their asses by now
It snowed a foot last night. I just got back from driving around fishtailing corners. I also went shopping. Driving around in snow is fun as hell if you know what you're doing.
One year, in middle school it must've been -40c with the wind chill and everything frozen solid, I couldn't get into the car to get to school because it was frozen shut, and one of our buses was jackknifed kinda in the middle of the road. School wasn't canceled. On the flip side it was +40 with the humidex I think summer last year. It balances out :v:
I understand how you feel my friend. I was in Minnesota before I joined the Air Force and I'm out in Goldsboro now.. it's sad to watch how much people can't handle the small amount of snow.
So your the type of person who would rather sit at home on facepunch all day instead of going to school and learning new material? If so, shame on you.
You never really had a childhood did you? Anyways, it's just because the southern states don't prepare for it and even when something like this does happen, they prefer to just wait it out instead of actually trying to make it easier for travel and such.
Here in Canada, it requires snow of 5 feet and a huge ass storm for school to close down [editline]12th January 2011[/editline] Here in Canada, it requires 5 feet for school to be closed down, followed by a huge ass storm
here in nova scotia it requires a few inches
Pussy school district. We got 3 feet of snow here last year and Virginia Tech closed for a day.
I find it to be a bit temperamental in the UK. Sometimes it could've been snowing over night, but if the buses are still running then chances are school is still on. In fact buses basically govern whether schools are open or not. No bus, no school. No teachers, but buses, then we end up coming in to be told to go home.
I don't go to school :colbert:
Areas just have a tolerance for a certain amount of snow. If a plane arrives in Utah ahead of time during a blizzard, they can still get them in early. A few weeks ago their were major delays in France even when there was hardly anything on the ground. It's the same with states like Virginia and below.
To be honest snow is a blessing. It's every ones way of saying "fuck it, free break". It's like random holiday ruled by the weather.
pfft, amateurs
We got a powder coating, no school. The day before the snow even came, everyone took off, and everyone will take off even if the streets are clear, just because. I wish people cared more about school...
Where i live, it requires 295 feets of snow, a flood with waters over 25 meters high, a tornado on F5 Fujita scale, a lava eruption, a tsunami at least 70 meters high, a nuclear war with losses of over 100,000, an earthquake on at least 9.0 Richter scale and a new Ice age before the schools close.

We got a foot of now last night and the local school districts had a hard time deciding whether or not to close.
The snow just fell off the roof and in front of my window, leaving it completely covered by about a meter of snow. I'll be riding a bike to school tomorrow. You're messing with the wrong guy, nature.
Do you happen to live on Duke Nukems ass?
Yes
I know my school closes not because the roads are covered in snow but because of the school parking lot. Until they can clear all the parking lots they will not open school. I mean, would you trust 100+ teenagers to drive in a slippery parking lot?
About 6"-8" in NYC today, Bloomberg (our dipshit mayor) said we still had school. He, for some reason, issued a snow day during holiday break. I stayed home, since I know how crazy my school gets during days like these.
In Soviet Russia you don't get snow, the snow gets you.
The only time I recall school being out here is when it was submerged in a meter of water it was reopened a day later [editline]cake[/editline] Here's a pic There's a small river on the other side and the terrain only goes lower than that.
Been out since Monday, likely until Thursday. such is life in Tennessee.
Hahah. Living in Canada, I have never had a 'snow day' at school in my entire life. I remember my teacher telling me one day that it must be at least -50 degrees outside without the wind chill for schools to close down.
I live in Canada too and we get snow days all the time, it's all to do with the roads. If there's a lot of black ice on the roads schools gonna be canceled. Gonna have a snow day tomorrow too, there's suppose to be a big blizzard ripping through my area tonight.
About every school in CT has been canceled today because we got about 2 feet of snow. More than that in some towns. But yeah, depends on the temperature more than how much snow, otherwise. If it's really cold and there's a little bit of snow, they will cancel schools due to ice.
School closed because of snow? Whats next, Fire Department off duty because of sundays? Over here in SD, its like BLIZZZZAAARRRRDDDDD WITH THREE FEEEET OF SNOOOOOW school starts two hours late only major roads are plowed if you dont have a 4wd then you are a pussy.
Ahhh, good ole' Canada. -45 and 3 feet of snow. Bring your textbooks and your schoolbags because school is on!
I live in Virginia and we got out for a day and a two hour delay the next day for icy roads. Feels good.
