School's been out for 3 days here, with only 4" of snow.

In the Midwest, we got a few inches, and it's been about 15 degrees (farenheit) and below, and they haven't called off school.
It's supposed to be about 6 degrees tomorrow morning. :colbert:
Here in Utah it once snowed close to 2 feet, school was still open. If we ever do get a snow day, it gets taken off our spring break.
Hey brother, where are you at in North Carolina? I'm in the Piedmont, a town called Mooresville right outside of Charlotte, about 30 minutes to an hour outside of it. I've had these three days out and tomorrow I've got a 2 hour delay.
Don't you guys have snow tires in the states?

Usually attachable chains where I've gone
All of you guys saying that you wish school would close for more days, think about it. Instead of ending the school year the normal date, it has to be extended to make up those snow days. It's ok to have one or two days off here and there because of bad weather but don't wish for two weeks off; it will affect your summer break.
Us people here in Pittsburgh have the day off and we have, what, four inches as well? We had a nasty blizzard last year, maybe we're all paranoid...
we rarely have snow like this in Georgia. i'll accept the extra days.
though we may not have to make a couple of them up
Don't you guys have snow tires in the states?
Yeah, but the only people who actually get them live in New England. It's too dang expensive otherwise

Silly.
Hahah. Living in Canada, I have never had a 'snow day' at school in my entire life.
I remember my teacher telling me one day that it must be at least -50 degrees outside without the wind chill for schools to close down.
I'm in Canada too, but for schools to be closed it has to be -45 C, including wind-chill.
Silly.
why would you buy snow tires if you got snow maybe once a year for a day or two at most
uh i live in washington and there has literally been no snow
where have you been
in kent it snowed yesterday
It wouldn't be a problem if we had snow tires and trucks full of sand prepared to keep the roads from icing over. It wouldn't be worth the money to do such a thing if you would only use it once or twice.
I wish it snowed in California.
I live in North Carolina
where in NC? I live here too.
I live in North Carolina too (Eastern), and they canceled schools for the possibility of it snowing.

But it does!
Here it can snow 3 feet in one night, be -35C with Windchill, Black Ice everywhere, preventing cars and buses from going anywhere, and school is never cancelled. It's only cancelled if here if the school suffers a power outage, which has happened twice in 5 years.

in my school if the power goes out for longer than 20 minutes we are allowed to leave.
Here in New Hampshire, we got about 1.5 to 2 feet. They canceled it today, but I don't expect them to have all that shit plowed by tomorrow.
Here in fascist Illinois, the school district I'm a part of canceled for Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm crossing my fingers for tomorrow due to the windchill.

Because then you have them if you need them.
Ive had school off all week as well in Gastonia(maybe like 30 minutes from Charlotte). We might even have tommorow off too, who knows. I do know that the snow totally messed up exams.
Been out since Monday, likely until Thursday.
such is life in Tennessee.
Same here, what part do you live in?
live in indiana, but my school is like the best school in indiana and just because of that they try to be less snow days. Well one time, Ice was all over the fucking roads, and we got a 2 hr delay. WTF?
i got 33" of snow in a night and still had school
School has never closed because of snow here.
Yeah, most countries over here don't have snow days.
Probably because we have testicles or something
We get 10 inches, have the temperature drop to -5, have nearly a FOOT of frozen ice-snow, and we still have to go to school.
You suck.
We have ice everywhere, about 5" of snow and it's going to be about 11F in the morning tomorrow. They haven't closed it yet, but we've had the same conditions for the past two days and they did close school. I'm hoping for another snow day.
And this is one of the many reasons of why the American public education system fails.
