It still upsets me when I see kids commenting on his "Somebody to Love" cover as if he wrote it himself. Freddie Mercury is turning in his grave. rip Freddie <3
He did have potential, but teen pop got the better of him. Moving on... when's this Paul album being released?
February.
Bieber's a cute kid but idk, I think he's just trying to cover these songs that are already so amazing in their own right and he just can't top the original artist (which, I'm pretty sure he knows) but by doing that, he's just giving off the impression that he's legendary enough to actually make decent covers of the songs. I like Bieber though. He's a genuine nice guy. But he should really keep away from covering classic songs until he's a bit more noteable? And mature? And when his fanbase isn't a bunch of 12-year-old girls who probably don't even know who originally sang "Let It Be"?
Apparently he slaughtered the song. He added lines that were never there and took away some lines. Dunno if that was intentional or not.
February.
that's awesome. can't wait.
And when is Ringo's New album releasing?

Is anyone really that worked up about this? John obviously took a different approach by saying the only way to achieve peace is not having religion, but I find Cee Lo's twist to not be disrespectful, but to just say let everyone accept what each individual believes and not have such a big fuss over differing religions. I'm surprised Yoko hasn't killed Cee Lo.
It doesn't exactly do harm by saying "all religions true", in the same way by saying "all religions are wrong". Doesn't do any actual harm. Just that the original intention was set in stone, takes away from the feeling. Then again it is Ceelo we're talking about.
Yeah. I see why people would maybe not like him changing the lyrics but there's no need for a crazy out-pour of rage against him.
Eh it's.. a bit presumptious of CeeLo to think he could do that without a serious reaction from anyone who know's the original "Imagine". I don't see it as a huge deal since there are so many other things to worry about, but I think he may have done it to incite a response from the public which is just what happened
Or maybe he's a religious guy and felt uncomfortable saying 'no religion'. Either way I really don't care much at all.
Any which way you put it, changing a classic song written by one of the most influential men of the last century in such a way that it completely detracts from the song's original meaning, is... disrespectful at least, a big middle finger to his memory at most. He should have chosen a different song if he didn't agree with Imagine's message.
How is it a giant middle finger? The meaning of Imagine isn't "religion is bad". It doesn't completely distract from the meaning of the song.
I'm sure Cee Lo meant no disrespect and I will give some credit because he probably was trying to stir up a bit of controversy because...well fuck he's Cee Lo, but I seriously doubt he meant any real harm by it.
How is it a giant middle finger? The meaning of Imagine isn't "religion is bad". I agree that there's a fair bit of overreaction going on, but altering a classic, iconic song by an iconic artist in both structure and meaning is disrespectful to the original artist. (Also, before someone brings it up, Herman Cain is a joke and his "interpretation" was a joke so we need not even go there)
I'm sure Cee Lo meant no disrespect and I will give some credit because he probably was trying to stir up a bit of controversy because...well fuck he's Cee Lo, but I seriously doubt he meant any real harm by it.
Probably not, and he probably couldn't have anticipated the reaction at all anyway, but when something as symbolic as Imagine is modified to fit a different agenda, it would be silly not to expect some sort of backlash. It's like changing the background of the Mona Lisa into a city. (I'm no good with analogies. Sorry.)

Just finished Part 5 of the Beatles anthology and I have to say, I thought they would go into depth on more things than they're doing but they are also going through stuff I didn't know about so I suppose I can't really complain. Hopefully I'll finish it before school starts over again.

He should have just done the "God" song and been "I believe". :v:
I've never heard this cover before...Oh Johnny. I can't imagine living with the pain he did at such an old age.
I have to tickets to The Fab Four. Amazing group if you haven't seen them, excellent entertainers, and they really sound like The Beatles. I am hype. and to the Beiber video.... Santana... why would you do this....
Santana... why would you do this....
He wants to be more rich, so what.
Well Santana is kinda like Metallica. He just does whatever the fuck he wants regardless of the public's opinion.
except he has a better catalogue of albums.
