The Beatles v2: King Ringo and the Time-Rape Dilemma

Let It Be is overproduced garbage, fuck Phil Spector. He's a murdering bastard and I hope he chokes on a million dicks and dies.
But Get Back, as recorded by The Beatles and mixed by Glyn Johns, is a wonderful album. Let It Be... Naked is a pretty good attempt at re-creating Get Back as it was originally intended, though.
I've listened to all versions of Let It Be... and Phil Spector's version has the most heart. Although yeah, he's a murderer... but goddamn he's done so many good albums.
Glyn Johns' version sucks.

Well it's not that bad, but it feels EMPTY and completely nullify's the point of the album. Still nice to hear, but I would have been disappointed with it if it were released.
I love how Paul sings the words "Speaking" and "Wisdom", on Let It Be.

If Glyn Johns' version sucks, why did Paul McCartney say he loved it? Surely you don't know more than Paul McCartney about what makes The Beatles good.

John Lennon liked Phil Spector's version and thought the rest should stop whining. :pcgaming:

Hold up....... the whole band hated Glyn's version. That's why they put the project on hold.

If John were alive today I'm sure he'd hate the Spector version just like George hated what Spector did to All Things Must Pass (fucking echoes).
Also, I totally understand how you can feel that Get Back feels empty compared to Let It Be, but that was the original point of the album. That's why it's 'empty'. The Beatles wanted to record a 'live' album in the studio and wanted to be broken down to their base components, which would have been a dramatic change from their previously recorded album.
I didn't think the remastered version of All Things Must Pass was all that, far too loud.
But I'm on the fence with the re-production of Let It Be. I mean, I like the songs... things like "Long and Winding Road" are brought out more. But in terms of a whole production, things like the Maggie Mae and Dig It, added to the niceness of it. In my opinion, a perfect send off for the band. Despite most thinking they had lost it.
Let's be fair, the recording was shoddy so praise goes to the producer.
Paul did what he could to the Let It Be album to make it sound to him what a Beatles record should be. But it's not his album, so what gives him the right?

I always think of Abbey Road as their sendoff, and Get Back as their aborted lovechild.
Also, the full version of Dig It isn't on Let It Be, it's on Get Back.
Well, the short lived 3 membered Beatles occurred during the last makings of Let It Be. So they all were in a panic to please.
I don't know why people would dislike it though, I enjoy it thoroughly :3:

Well okay I don't really dislike the album when regarded on its own merits, I just resent Phil Spector. I also like basic four piece stuff like the Beatles early work which is why I think I prefer Get Back over Let It Be.
I don't see myself having much use for last.fm.

Phil Spector's work is the bollox.. Whichever project he's involved in. It's pretty much the only production style back then which added that amount of atmosphere. Let It Be Naked is definitely better than Get Back Sessions though.
I really don't like the mixing on these

Also, Last FM is great for keeping track of demographics and discovering new music. :iia:
Yeah, you're right, those sound terrible.
And coincidentally, they're not the mixes available on Get Back as mixed by Glyn Johns, because I just compared them.
And yeah, Spector is good in that he influenced others to create things with more atmosphere, and that contributed to the creation of the best album of all time, Pet Sounds.

Well my version is Glyn Johns' final collection. He's included notes saying
"I cannot bring myself to listen to the Phil Spector version of the album - I heard a few bars of it
once, and was totally disgusted, and think it's an absolute load of garbage."
What an arse.

The version I compared it to was the second mix, the end result when the project was shelved. The version Paul liked.
And yeah that's pretty big-headed of him to say, but can you blame him? He was asked to mix a basic, back to their roots album for the Beatles, and he did and did as good a job at it as he possibly could, and at least one Beatle liked it, yet they still shelved it and opted for a version that is everything but basic and back to their roots. Can't really blame him if he's biased because of that.
Love is proof george martin is a genius.
Also I thought Paul ended up hating let it be after it was shipped?

Paul was a bit big headed when the band was over. You could clearly see that The Beatles had become "Paul McCartney" when you see the movie. It kinda sucks that it had to happen that way.

Paul's the one who brought in Glyn Johns, so of course he'd be biased towards his production of it. Like I said, he expressed his positive opinion of Glyn's mix way before the project was shelved in favor of Let It Be. So yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if Paul had some negative things to say about Let It Be after it was released.
Just found out The Beatles were my nan's favourite band so now I'm blazed (she isn't) sat with her blazing them out.
Oh god this is awesome

Let It Be....Naked!
Jo, do you know where I can find the reactions from Paul?
What did he do on his 70th?
look at other related videos too.
Ringo was the only one on stage who was surprised. Paul had rehearsed with the band before this.

Also this was the concert after the one my friend went to.
he was pissed :v:
Ringo is the best.
I don't know who I like the best.
I mean in all the movies I always liked ringo the best, plus he was my favorite when I was a kid (although I wasn't basing it on anything). But george is responsible for most of my favorite songs. But lennon was so loveable. But paul has more stuff later on that I like than any of the others.
Got a new turntable today.
First album I listen to?
Sgt. Peppers.
I'd assume they did that because nobody can hear them over the screaming. :v:
I'm thinking of streaming hard day's night and help later if anyone wants to watch.
I won't be in for it. I'll be out at a bonfire later this evening.
Actually I can't, I'm going to middlebury.
Sorry, I'll do it some other time.

Who is that guy I don't recognize? He is blocking John and Paul

Bahahaha, what the fuck. I was expecting it to be a satire of the Tea Party stance, but it's a guy's genuine message.
Best line has to be "and Bin Laden's always on my mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mind". Jesus Christ.
