Nope. He's got a different style. Ringo does a lot of pretty awesome fills and stuff that a lot of drummer couldn't do.

Care to tell me what that is?

A fill? Its like a little flourish or improvised little section. Don't be hating on ringo he's underrated if anything.

He's got great timekeeping and he's got plenty of skill. Excuse me for not being extremely articulate good sir.

Yeah I'm not denying Ringo is a great drummer. He has skill, but he's not very distinctive is he. :smugdog:

I think his simplicity and unique playing have made him rather distinctive, its not as easy to emulate as you might imagine.
Ringo is working on a new album.

He's also inspired a ton of other drummers, which all try to emulate his style.
There's so many mini-Ringos out there in the world.
He's using a Rickenbacker in that video.
My bad then, I thought it was a Hofner.
Can someone suggest me the bare minimum of their compilations I would need to get their definitive must-haves? 1 is an obvious choice but that doesn't have any of their more psychedelic stuff like Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, I Am the Walrus, etc.
The Hofner guitar of John's that Guldfisk is talking about is a Hofner club. He took it to Hamburg and played it until he bought his first Rickenbacker 325.

There's a picture somewhere of Paul using it after John got his rickenbacker, with only four strings on. I read somewhere that he played it like a bass after Stuart died, before getting a proper bass of his own.
mrrr that thing is sexy

No I mean the issue is that it DOESN'T have any of those songs, I love them but they seem to be mostly excluded from their Greatest Hits albums
Past masters has all their singles, so you get a bunch of songs from various periods.

I think I'm going to read up on some basics of Hinduism. I finished Here Comes the Sun: The Spiritual and Musical Journey of George Harrison but I don't understand a lot of it, specifically the last half of the book. The author plays fast and loose with many complex Hindu terms which makes it rather confusing at times.
But man, some of the stories are just great from that book. There is one story about the Bangladesh concert which is almost like a Disney movie. Basically George asked Bob Dylan to come play at the benefit concert for Bangladesh; Dylan was in recluse for 3 years. Dylan accepted to go to the rehersals but made no promises for actually performing. They advertised the concert and did not put Dylan's name on the ads because of his uncertainty.
Dylan was incredibly nervous and at the day of the concert Dylan approached George and said "This ain't my thing man, I gotta go back to Long Island". George was disappointed but was still confident about the show. At the end of Here Comes the Sun (I think), George looked to the side of the wings and saw Dylan with guitar in hand and ready to play.
It's kind of like a Disney story isn't it? It's cool to imagine being part of that audience when the surprise announcement that Bob fucking Dylan would be playing.
Unfortunately, I heard that the funds for Bangladesh stayed in escrow for years. They eventually did get to where they were going, but it was such a long, long time. George was so hurt by it he just never bothered to do it again.

yeah there was some dispute with EMI records, they basically held the money because they thought they were getting a large cut of the profits for some reason
Such a legendary concert it was anyway, I'm sure it inspired and maybe caused more to donate.
Yeah. Just listening to the Concert CD that I found, you can tell George just loved being there. I think I may have already posted it, but it's Billy Preston playing "That's The Way God Planned It" and he's just so passionate, and they all looked like they had a fun, fun time. I just wished that Clapton would've played some of his material, but he was sorta like Bob, he wasn't sure if he'd show up or not.

Their complation albums (1962-1966 & 1967 - 1970) has all of their greatest hits, including I am the Walrus and Lucy in the Sky, plus shitloads of their best works. The best part is, it has just been released remastered on CD, so lucky you.
What I find funny, is that they needed two CD's to fit their greatest hits on.
