• Why girls like pretty boys?

I don't like boys cause they're pretty or cause they're attractive at all, really. I just want a man who appreciates Gordon Freeman as much as I do. Is that so much to ask?
A relationship built on playing the same videogames. Yeah.
It could happen! But seriously, all the guys I've dated have had absolutely no interest in gaming, and it totally ruined the relationships. You gotta find people with the same interests as you.
So glad im asian
You live in canada eh? Ahaaa, I assume you live in the GTA, no? Asians are spreading like wildfire here. :v:
Actuuaaally. Many studies indicate this to the pill. It suppresses the hormones that cause you to want good genes (ruggedness) and thaty makes you focus on the nurturers (girly, innocuous, nice men) to help you raise the kids.
This guy actually brings up a good point. If you've ever wondered why there's been a trend or social shift in the preference of women (from rugged, masculine figures to slightly more androgynous/feminine looking men or characteristics) , it's been theorized to been linked with the pill. Realistically though, I don't think it's a huge impact. I mean look at Brad Pitt, the dude has very masculine facial features, and no matter what generation of heterosexual women you ask, he is a sexy motherfucker.

It's hard being asian.
It's actually due to primal instincts, We're biologically tuned to seek out the most physically attractive and fit mate in order to ensure the survival of the species. Without it our lesser-intelligent ancestors wouldn't have survived.
The problem about most evolutionary explainations of these kinds of behaviours is that they aren't able to explain such factors as jealousy, or the modern trend that condoms or other contraceptives which eliminated the motivation to pass on genes (it's become the worst result of sex). Many aspects of evolutionary assumptions have also been criticised because they rarely adequately present which group of humans they have "studied". Also too many unfalsifiable hypothesis. Just my two cents though The problem isn't evolutionary psychology when researchers with a heavy background in science use experimental methods to deduce information. The problem is the armchair psychologists on the internet that don't know shit, and start making up things that 'sound good' based on a preliminary knowledge of evolution. There is absolutely no evidence for what they say, and usually it's written with some sort of discriminatory slant to explain why women or blacks or homosexuals are so deficient in their mind, or to explain away some discriminatory behavior as what 'evolution' intends. When they say it's nature you can't blame them for being prejudiced. Of this person's essay, the only thing that can be verifiable with actual research is that women invest a lot in reproduction..
I think you people are taking the title way too literal. He's obviously referring to guys that tend to look more like girls, with the spikey long hair and piercings. Seeing as how the word 'pretty' usually refers to females. Which is odd because, guys definitely don't like girls that look like guys, right? I'm pretty sure that's a big turn-off for most of them. Yet, girls like it when guys look like girls. Justin Bieber has girls all over him, and he's basically a laughing stock visual-wise among men everywhere.
because western societies associate masculinity with desire (which is bullshit)
The Op brings up a valid point. Like look at Justin Bieber, he looks like a lesbian for goodness sake. I don't understand how girls can be attracted to boys who look like girls. Deep down I think all girls are bisexual. My girlfriend loves my manly facial hair and chest hair though. How men should be.
see, this is exactly what i'm talking about above. you're saying that for justin bieber to "look like a girl" is degrading. therefore, you think being a girl is degrading.

There are slews of studies linking masculine facial traits with sexual attractiveness. It's also worth nothing that these same overtly masculine faces are also perceived as dominant and less trustworthy. Also people saying Bieber looks like a girl are just lashing out in bitter jealousy. He's not very effeminate looking at all actually: And considering he's only 17, it's probably likely his face is going to mature even more in the coming years.
How is it bullshit? There are slews of studies linking masculine facial traits with sexual attractiveness. It's also worth nothing that these same overtly masculine faces are also perceived as dominant and less trustworthy.
I was talking about masculinity as a whole, not faces. Men having lower sex drives than their female partners is more common than anyone would like to be aware of, but men refuse to talk about it, because in American (and many other western societies), "manliness" is associated with sexual desire. It can create problems in a relationship (the woman thinks there’s something wrong with him, that he’s cheating, that he’s bored, etc.). In the end, some men just don’t have huge sex drives, and that’s okay too.
crazybear makes a good point. What sort of freak wants to look sexually attractive?
She's a guy.
Now, This is a girl.
Say, you guys seem to use a rather inappropriate word to describe Bieber and those Japs guys. I'd call them more "Cute" than "Pretty". Girls digging cute things, that would explain pretty fairly the correlation.

The pressure for men to always be the western "ideal" of manliness, rather than physiological aspects of masculinity.
I am a Korean and I have to really agree with this thread. Living in the foreign countries for 18 years living in Australia for 6 years, America for 7 years and Malaysia for 5 years, although boy KPop music is decent, their looks as idols are extremely overrated.
Because they're lesbians.
I can vouch for this.

But because of how popular KPop idols are, he decided to go to Texas instead.
You guys REALLY can't explain why women like certain men with reason/science. It's impossible to understand women. :v:

sorry I think I really made a shitpost. cuz Mr jang pissed me off so i totally lost myself at that time. I think it's a part of trend that girls like that kind of boys. I'll try to get her mind again.

Better question would be why lesbians don't like men, but they like women that look like boys?
Some like femme, some like their girls butch, some like studs. It's all about preference.
I am a handsome stud
