Or just take life driving a Miata like you're driving a motorcycle; if you crash there's a better chance of dying. That's about it. Anything could happen.. a broken tierod end could through you into a ditch and the car catches, flips, then it's all up to fate from there. A rollbar might help, or it might do nothing.
But that's really driving any day, any way you look at it.
Rollovers seem "fairly safe" in a convertible that has a properly designed rollover bar. I'd consider it as important as a seatbelt really but how often do rollovers really happen in non-fault accidents in a car.

went on a hwy 1 drive[/QUOTE]
Holy shit, I've seen you in real life around the Santa Cruz area... and no joke, you drive like a FUCKING ASSHOLE. Just because you're in a small car doesn't mean you're allowed to weave inbetween lanes of traffic without a fucking turn signal. You're going to wreck that piece of shit and take someone out with you. If you wanna drive like a wannabe F1 drive do it when there's no one around you fucking dick.

Touge life[/QUOTE]
Not fucking surprising. Good thing for everyone else that in a Miata crash it's usually the Miata driver who's gonna get fucked.
Sounds like someone cant deal with the touge life.
[QUOTE=c0nk3r;46895445]Sounds like someone cant deal with the touge life.[/QUOTE]
Going 60 downhill in a 30 and overtaking on the shoulder/crossing double yellow. Yeah, no, I can't deal.
We're you blasting eurobeat
[QUOTE=notlabbet;46887728]I would get a bar if I could afford it, a cage isn't necessary in a car that isn't open top, like mine. A bar keeps me from going flat like a pancake. It's very nice to have. It would go behind my head, not a full cage.[/QUOTE]
Living in Miata land, almost all Miata owners here rock full or half-cages. The car itself will not let you live in any sort of way in a collision, but in a roll accident, yes you need a cage. Some even get a hardtop over the cage for extra protection.
It's the first mod I'd ever do if I ever get a vert. (Which is never).

You sound like a self-righteous jerk. As if you never drove like that once in your life.

I've been a driving nazi since my cousin died in a car crash. I make sure everyone I drive with follows the 3 second rule, the speed limit, wears a seatbelt, etc.
All it takes is one little mess up for you to be a grease stain on the side of the road and I think people should take responsible driving more seriously.
isnt the 3 second rule somethin where u have 3 seconds to pick up food if u dropped it and it'll be fine
I've passed people on the right a bunch of times. While lanesplitting with my motorcycle...
I consistently pass people on the right who are doing 40 in a 55 in the fast lane. Its cool if you want to drive slow, but dont do it in the passing lane.
While that is a tad bit distasteful, it isn't anywhere close to breaking laws and driving like a maniac and crossing the double yellow's or passing on the break-down shoulder. I had a guy doing 100 in an brand new no plate honda accord pass me on the shoulder, it startled me, and can cause an accident pretty fast.

staying in the passing lane without passing is also illegal (on some roads) and the cause of the problem.
Understandable. I'm not trying to compare passing on the right with obvious breaking of laws.
It's pretty obvious if notlabbet never posts again, we found the reason why.

I drive fast at 4am when no one is around and at Laguna Seca track days considering they're cheap, plentiful, and an hour from Santa Cruz. I'm not interested in making everyone think I'm an asshole / putting others in danger.
This notlabbet kid was passing on a two-lane mountain road swerving past cars (including mine) via the hard shoulder / crossing into the opposite direction of traffic on blind turns. He's a fucking idiot and one slip up could have sent a minivan with a family in it into a ditch.
If you think I'm the one being a prick you are seriously fucking stupid.

I dunno man, I refuse to pass on a double yellow or shoulder and refuse to run red lights with the exception of right turn on reds when I have full visibility of the intersection and can see that it's clear.
I'm all for carving down a mountain highway with light traffic at 110+ and following passing laws(speed excluded) or not just completely recklessly weaving some ligther traffic while even using blinkers. The road isn't a personal playground, if it impedes other people or endangers them you really shouldn't do it. There's just as much fun to be had while at least attempting to mind other's safety.

The cheapest track day for me within 500 miles is about $450 and the required safety equipment. Otherwise you have to be part of a club and pay $500 a year and get to pick from their autox courses or the two tracks 130 and 190 miles away. Not to mention we don't have any autox anymore within 100 miles, the closest thing is a really good gokart track that does drift events 80 miles from here.
Shit sucks man, I guess we have a 1/8 mile drag strip 70 miles north although there's a 1/4 about 130 from here.
I suppose I live in a wonderland in comparison though, there's an entirely unpoliced/unused rural playground of forestry roads and backroads here. I couldn't imagine the stifling nature of Socal, while the roads might not be quite as tight and technical as many of the canyon roads they're somewhat close but will have a handful of traffic tops for 50+ miles. I don't have to go to the track just to drive.

You seemed like it. From what you say he does sound like an idiot. I assumed he was just speeding here and there. I break the rules every once in a while, but not enough so that it has the possibility of injuring another. Only when it's late at night with no one around to see :P
Yo pedobear, I'm pretty sure you've got the wrong man. I drive with notlabbet a lot, guarantee you he does zero of the things you said
your confidence is amazing, as if there isn't more than one dark-colored NA in the area

That not me, I got this car a few weeks ago and I always use my turn signal. I only drive fast in the mountains, where I live. There isn't lanes there. Who the fuck are you?

The only person I ever overtook was a white Prius on highway 9 back in July. And I was in my civic.
[editline]10th January 2015[/editline]
Holy shit I'm reading this guys posts and this is not me. Fuck you dude for assuming. This is straight up harassment.
[editline]10th January 2015[/editline]
I've never EVER in my fucking LIFE ever passed on the right. That time I passed that Prius was on the left and that is IT.
[editline]10th January 2015[/editline]
There is a montego blue miata that I saw the other day on hwy 9 with a flyin miata window decal, it could have been him, I guess. He gave me a black panther power fist as he drove by.
[editline]10th January 2015[/editline]
theres an easy way to settle this. when did this blue miata pass you?
I pass people on the right all the time, because they're cruising in the left lane and not getting over when I approach them, slow to their speed and flash my headlights a couple time over the course of several miles. I drove across 7 states this past summer, and didn't hit a left lane cruiser until the 18 mile marker in Colorado as I was coming home.

Hes saying I pass on single lane 2 way mountain roads, which I don't. (except for that one time I mentioned earlier) I do occasionally pass people on highway 1 for my commute, because its a 2 lane road, and its a very normal thing to do, and I always use my turn signals.
I saw Serj driving one time but he wasn't driving a Dart. Not sayin, just sayin. Scandal.
When did you go to California?

IIRC it was about 3 months ago on 9 south past Felton towards SC. I'm like 99.999% sure it is the car in your picture too. I got a dashcam very shortly cover my ass if they tried stupid shit and it went wromg. If not you then the previous owner of that thing deserves a permanent-license suspension.

i circled the date I transferred the title, which was last month.
its weird that you are 99.999% it was this car, because I bought it from a middle aged woman in campbell.
