Very good expressive shot, for that angle I think it's very well done. You captured enough context to show why there would be excitement, but still have the shot being about the girl. I don't think it's too sharp, but I would up the white balance just a little to be warmer, I think it would fit the mood a little better.
ahh thankyou, ill take it back to lightroom haha :) x

super old photo i found in the depths of a hard drive i thought previously was busted don't even know what camera i took this with. definitely didn't own a camera at the time nor was interested in photography
some wedding detail shots that stood out as being alright. it's daunting sorting through like 500 photos and trying to find the best ones that i consider to be stylistic of my general photography. The image is incredibly boring, its a point a shot photo of a bird. As far as tones go, the top one is nicer.

i think it would be cool if we had a thread where someone could post an unedited image they took and people could edit it how they like and submit them back to the person who took it so they get a better understanding of editing because I feel like a lot of beginners don't really grasp what to do when editing
Feel free to make one, we had one once and it was fairly popular. I would be more than happy to contribute to something like that.

It's incredibly important to know how to edit your own pictures. It's a part of being a modern photographer.
^ You're right but I think the idea is to point people in a direction.
As long as you don't do them a disservice and do all the work. I've been doing photography as a serious hobby for half a year now, and just recently managed to make some presets that fit my camera and styles. There is no easy way other than hiring a pro grader, which is costly.
Trog, I always say this, but great shots.

Even if you tried there's no way that would work.
I've been doing photography as a serious hobby for half a year now, and just recently managed to make some presets that fit my camera and styles.
You'll find that this becomes quite fluid actually.
Trog, I always say this, but great shots.
I always appreciate it. Was not expecting such a warm response to them! But seriously guys thank you so much, all the kind words I've gotten here really drive me to keep pushing myself to impress even more.
I always appreciate it. Was not expecting such a warm response to them! But seriously guys thank you so much, all the kind words I've gotten here really drive me to keep pushing myself to impress even more.
Yeah, usually I have nothing constructive to say, but I like putting in good words. [editline]24th March 2014[/editline] Why am I getting rated dumb?
I really don't think people would use it expecting other people to 'carry' the work. Even if you tried there's no way that would work.
i wonder, given the before and after images, would it be possible to write a program that can estimate the changes and express them in terms of curves or something so basically extract a preset with the edited and unedited images as input [editline]24th March 2014[/editline] not that that should be a thing but i am curious now
I don't know enough about how computers work to even guess if that's possible but that's a really cool idea.
you should LA when it rains, might as well cut everyone's brakes.
i was driving thru LA from santa ana when it was misty and i counted 25 accidents [editline]24th March 2014[/editline] first portra 160 roll
[editline]24th March 2014[/editline] first portra 160 roll
1, 3, 4 from that set are the best imo, great comp and tones

not a personal dig at you but those attempts at double exposure irk me because they don't take into account how exposure actually works, tumblr was full of them a year or two ago
wish I were a tree
I love this post.
should be possible, possibly easier to just compare histograms and see what +- exposure changes and sat. changes have been done
think it might be easier to do per pixel i made a similar thing a while back that took black and white photos that had a colour cast on them, worked out what exactly that colour cast was, and applied them to other black and white photos that had no colour cast might have a go at this in a couple of weeks after i've handed in all my uni reports and stuff
