honestly i want to try out vsco but $120 for a filter pack i might not even use more than twice? eeeh.
little 35mm point and shoot i got could* shoot in a panorama mode (basically just cuts off the top and bottom of the frame from being exposed)

1) get lab photo colour test sheet printed out
1.5) find calibrated monitor
1.75) take bunch of test photos with various films of said test sheet
1.875) take bunch of digital photos with various films of said test se
1.9375) compare photos until you get the right preset
1.96875) hone down presets until you like them

I like this one because the reflection matches up with the white box and makes what seems like a 3D volume, when I scrolled down I thought the guy was standing above a "pit."

Finally received the first ever dslr I've used in the post yesterday, and went out in the night to get some practice. Probably should have read the manual first as I had trouble focusing properly, and it didn't help that the lens was smudgy from me rubbing rain off it either. Anyway, these are the shots I think turned out OK (sorry for being indecisive and dumping everything)

4th one is very well done, the others are decent but the 4th stood out to me the most out of the set. the composition and colors are awesome.

heres the best of my first roll of 120 film (warning: not great)

i focused past the subject multiple times, and the exposure was often off. I was using a p30 as a light meter, and i forgot to change the iso, it fucked with the exposures a little.

and woodchuck, your instagram ones are far superior to the other photos. They look too over sharpened which has made them look pixelated and jagged

one thing i've learnt more recently is the importance of colour and light and how they being interesting in themselves and bring a subject out. with this photo game we're playing it's a combination of factors like colour, comp, light, light temp, location, distance, focal length, post colour, post exposure, how the curves are handled and how the raw is processed. yet, we decide a lot of this stuff in a split second.
