That last photo turned out surprisingly well IMO despite the lack of light. I don't recall which lens but I suspect it was my 17-40 4.0 Lens.
All shot with Canon EOS 5D. I hope I didn't post these earlier.

Those forests look amazing. What a lovely place. And nice photos too, interesting use of depth of field

These were pretty close to the side of the road but this place (Camaldoli near Arezzo in Italy) is a huge national park and has so much potential if you are ok with hiking, it's full of lovely animals too.

I'm sorry it came out that way it wasn't my intention, I mention the lens because some might be interested in knowing what they were shot with.
As far as the subjects I kinda have to agree, I have social anxiety (not saying this to be pitied) and I tend to avoid crowded places so I end up going in the woods and it's harder for me to find interesting stuff to shoot there compared to a more civilized (as in full of man made stuff) place, I end up with a few shots like these that I like not because there's a particular subject or story in them but just because of the colors or shapes.
I'm always doubting if posting them would be a good idea or not because I realize many might not find anything worth seeing in them but I post some I like anyway to try and became a bit less shy about showing my stuff and you never know I might get some motivation to get better at this, like your post confirmed to me that they do indeed lack a proper subject.
Recently I've been trying to get out of my comfort zone and get in places with more architecture, maybe then I will find interesting stuff to shoot.
How do you find these? I was saving them for later but I might as well get them out now as we are talking about more interesting subjects.

first time in a while i went out of my way to take a photo! didn't work the scene very much because of some factors (late, no tripod, new lens i wasn't familiar with), but they came out okay

On a whim I dug up a pile of photos I took years ago, and it's sad how desolate they are. Haven't looked at them in ages, never thought much of them. I remember that I took them during a deep, deep depression, usually at random while walking. I was just walking a lot. Weird to unintentionally discover that sadness in your photos. Creepy, even.
Like, look how I framed this picture. It's almost like I was imagining people in the frame. Aesthetically correct, nice colors, nice lines, but it's so fucking dismal.
