not really feeling the selective focus tbh
not really feeling the selective focus tbh
That was created in camera with the lens. No Photoshop. All that was done was a couple of tweaks in Lightroom.

Making everything sepia and shallow dof isn't all there is to tintypes. If you want to try and fake something like this you really should spend a long time studying the medium and maybe even take a few real ones. I made sure things are ridiculously sharp and have a bit of that high-contrast look, plus, in camera I focused mainly on the eyes. Anyway, thank you kindly for your feedback. I am planning on taking some true tintypes this summer...I'll let you know how that turns out. :)

Your pictures are lacking the contrast of real ones and in general feel muddy in comparison. Please take this as legitimate constructive criticism when I say this: Your pictures don't look like tintypes, they look like very obvious fakes.
Y'know what? Fine, just...fine. Gonna create a freaking tintype photo in Photoshop...without any tutorials...because I can't find any. Bye. EDIT- I mean, Jesus Christ, I was just trying to be helpful and friendly. But, yeah, sure, let's all pick on the kid who does photography because he just likes creating and making images for the hell of it. Let's all pick on the kid who does photography because he has nothing else better to do. Let's all pick on the kid who does photography because he has no friends. Anyway, back to work.

We're not high schoolers trying to get a rise out of anyone, we're a friendly part of this forum who is keen to see anyone improve, and people tell the truth and give their honest opinions and that is something that we all value so that we can all improve and mature photographically.
*sigh* I guess I get defensive when someone calls my photos "obvious fakes". EDIT- Sue me, I have a victim complex because I have fucking Aspergers. And, with Aspergers I tend to think everyone hates me. I am probably not too far off the mark with that thought... Anyway, you don't want to hear my whole story, but yeah, no friends, yadda, yadda, yadda.
