but knowing the gear that someone took a picture with doesnt help you take better photos
just helps you to know what their camera and settings were, there's a lot more to it than that. it makes a marginal difference in the grand scheme of things of your advancement and progression as a photographer. Learning to do good with what you have will help ya more bud.
if too many people see my exif info they will deplete my camera's optical kung fu and i wont be able to take good pictures any more [editline]14th April 2014[/editline] my imaging system's PSF is a combination of lens aberrations and pure magic [editline]14th April 2014[/editline] you can;t have my magic
someone asked me what settings i used as if that's the only three factors affecting my fucking photo
someone told me not long ago that they saw my flickr and that i must have a very nice camera i just sat there staring at them and smiling [editline]14th April 2014[/editline] then i went home and relayed the compliment to my 6d as i stroked it gently
everyone keeps asking me if my a7 is a old film camera, even more then when i take my x-700 out. I think its great, because no one wants to steal an old film camera.

my favourite personal photos are ones i took with my worst cameras. go figure
but knowing the gear that someone took a picture with doesnt help you take better photos
it gives me a clue though. :/ and maybe I overthink that aspect of it. I just feel like I'm struggling to pump out good pictures, even though you guys have told me you like my pictures before, I guess I just haven't been content with them myself yet.
tbh any info that isn't to do with composition and focus (i.e. focal length, aperture size and shutter speed (in regards to slow shutter effects)) is irrelevant since the rest of the settings are basically about ensuring you collect the most data about the scene with your camera so you have the most room possible for editing (low noise, no clipping if possible, etc) things like focal length and aperture sizes that other people used you will get a feel for after a while editing is a (very very) important thing to learn that will take a lot of time

Do you guys ever look back to your photos that you didn't like but end up liking it again?
You guys post so much, I feel like I miss half the stuff you post.
I'm still learning to handle my telezoom. I accidentally had my stabilizer off on both these images, so you won't get any bigger resolution :P Handling the telezoom is a bit difficult for me, as I have very shaky hands and the lens is pretty heavy. Any tips on that? [t]http://i.imgur.com/Jx6VDaj.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Xec5hcE.png[/t]

it depends what you're going for, i like the editing on the last portrait although i'd probably bring the highlights down a bit

Moon photography is hard without a zoom lens. But at least this cat came out of nowhere and we did an impromptu photoshoot with the cat.

Testing out my 200mm macro. This is very hard without a tripod collar, super sturdy tripod, and a focusing rail (ring flash wouldn't hurt either). I might give up because those all add up to being $$$, and I won't get 100% from this thing unless I really build a macro system around it. Fun to mess around with, but a very technical and challenging device to use.
