I took an x100s to Vietnam for 3 weeks, where I bought a scooter and rode around the north. I'm starting to go through some of the photos now, here are a couple from the beginning.
I'm absolutely in love with the x100! It suits me a lot more than my d90 which has proven to be a hassle to travel with. The x100 is small enough that I had it around my neck the entire time, and it never got in the way or felt like a burden.

Which gimmicky one? I have so many... :v:
In all seriousness though, thank you.

Well, I haven't taken one before, so what? I could say the same for desuhs vertical/horizontal details, dr hooves photos and mixing and matching color-dip/triptychs.

Keep on with these, stop taking gimmicky ones man - these are good!
Alright, I'll try. I have a tendency to slip back into gimmicky for some reason. :/
EDIT: These are all with a point and shoot camera. Just finding it funny that I'm managing to make better pictures with a point and shoot, rather than my T2i. :v:

love this, i've always wanted to travel through some asian country on a crappy scooter and this set and this photo in particular remind me why

Just because you could say it about theirs, doesn't mean it then doesn't apply to you. Stop getting defensive, i'm offering you constructive criticism!
the answer to your 'so what' is that i find your image to be rather lackluster and that i think you could try something new to make your photos more memorable and give them impact. Always wash your assumptions away every once in a while, it makes for a fresh outlook on life.
@blarghirth that doesn't mean stop experimenting, I just thought you were scared that your normal photos weren't good enough to be posted without having some gimmicky thing applied to them
the promise showed in your photos is really only going to be developed by presenting them as they (mostly) are, so that you can get cc on them and be able to compare to others, not by trying to make them interesting when they aren't. That doesn't mean post-processing isn't important either, it's a huge skill in itself but it needs a base to work on

I'm always trying new things. Just because I've had some bw street-shots that specialize in shadows and geometry these last months, doesn't mean I'm not looking for new perspectives. Just check my photostream before your insinuate something.
i don't think that's what he meant at all
Speaking of drinks, here's mine

Looks like fun but I bet it's amazingly dangerous if you don't know the roads.
Messing around with the camera still. :)

This Caribbean busker just looked like the coolest dude ever, had a properly good chat with him afterwards. I love the sort of triangle in the pic made by his guitar n glasses
[t]http://puu.sh/93GQf.jpg[/t]
Just chatted to this Venician guy, asked to take his pic n he immediately grabbed his hat n brush n went for it haha
I hate that bloody guy in the background, really wish I had a good prime to get the dof I want.

These are a few from a little longer ago when I first started shooting street stuff, I challenged myself to a b&w street only day in Barcelona, I especially like the old guy in the right pic. His stare is so thoughtful
Hope you guys like them.

gmarley.
What do you guys think of the subtle red/blue split toning in the pic with the guy on the bench and the one of the old man? I like it but I've never had any feedback
i don't think that's what he meant at all
Well, excuse me then, been really pissy today. Should know better than to start discussions..
