Hi, yeah I'm new here. You guys seemed pretty cool so I figured I'd start posting. But anyway, here's a photo I took during the early morning hours. I was in a car at the time so it's a little blurred and the window was dirty so uh, yeah. Criticism is welcome.

nice to meet you. i would ease off the red wash, as the actual photo is a bit too dark for the intensity of it. in my personal opinion, if you're going to add color curve washes on photos, it's good to have a subtle effect over dark photos, and a more pronounced wash over brighter photos. i hope you find this helpful :)

#5 has a nice focus on light/shadow, although it needs more symmetry
I also like #7's composition and colour, but the lighting could be much better
Going to ask here, don't really feel like making a thread for it. But how do you guys pull off the amazing pictures and edits that you do?
I spend hours and hours out with my girlfriend and other friends taking pictures, then more hours editing the pictures in lightroom because I'm never satisfied when it comes directly out of my camera.
I still feel as if I can't reach the quality that you guys do, in terms of composition, lightning etc. Even after reading this thread for ages and trying out techniques that I can see you guys doing, I can't pull it off.
If someone could try to help it'd be nice, I've got my flickr linked under my avatar. On that, unless you want to give CC on them, ignore the [sp]fursuiting[/sp] pictures, they are there so that I can actually document things so we can get my girlfriend permanent residency in Australia.
if you find any of my digital photos with editing you like i'll show you the settings i used if that helps at all.
for me i look for strong lighting, and don't pay much active thought to composition other than to try and center my subjects and get the foreground in the photo too so it has a bit of depth to it (and using other objects to frame the subject). i like a lot of natural contrast, and i think a lot about the focal lengths i work with. if i'm using a wide angle i get close, and if i'm using a tighter lens i back up. i almost always shoot wide open or near it.
