It's a railroad track. Would've been neat if a train had been going through!
Wicked, I like trains, which is kind of interesting since one of my brothers liked trains when he was my age and also took photos with a film SLR. I should have realised though when I saw those electric lines for the trains
But maybe a train would have been too much. Sure it would have been cool, but the subject in this photo are the rowers and I think a train would possibly detract some attention from the rowers.
But why should I take pictures of things I don't like? It's like forcing oneself to like/practice a certain type of music that you don't like. I've tried other types of photography, and this is what I like the most, with concept photography coming a close second.
I like pictures that are well composed and have geometric patterns with a dash of lights/shadows and some humans for scale/organics and good processing. I leave all these photo-documentation thingys to journalistic photographers/newspaper photogs instead. I don't care if you went out with your friends to drink beer in the park or sitting in a car with your analog camera.
I'm not a photographer, but a creative person that uses a camera for instant paintings, when I feel for it.
In the end it's really just up to you to do what you want. Everyone's got their tastes.
I do like your photos, they're well composed and have patterns.

Thanks. It seems like me and Blaze are on completely different levels. I just don't see the appeal of pictures of seemingly everyday happenings.

um, bro?
I'm not a photographer, but a creative person that uses a camera for instant paintings, when I feel for it.
This is something that is great to now be clarified for me regarding this topic, naturally on the photography section i would assume that everyone is a photographer such as myself, but after some recent thoughts and discussions it has become apparent to me that not everyone is on the same wavelength photographically (talking personal direction).
I never said to take pictures of things you don't like! I guess it's more the fact that i think your pictures may mean more to you than they do to others (can only speak for myself), and if you're cool with that and enjoy what you're shooting and the level you're at, and not interested in changing then by all means carry on, and keep posting!
I just don't see the appeal of pictures of seemingly everyday happenings.
Taking pictures of people just living, being normal. That is something quite important to me I guess. It's kind of difficult to explain and the fact that it's 3 AM right now doesn't help. Staged portraits and stuff are nice, but still, nothing beats living.
I just don't see the appeal of pictures of seemingly everyday happenings.
Although i don't understand this, at all.
(damn this was supposed to automerge)

err, not to be rude but a lot of your pictures are just that
it's a silly way to think. an 'everyday happening' could be presented an extraordinary fashion, that's what makes it interesting. and the concept of 'everyday happenings' is relative to who you ask
err, not to be rude but a lot of pictures are just that
Like if you shoot the face of a building, is it an everyday happening? Or the homeless guy that sits across the street every day. Is he a happening or just part of the scenery? I mean, it's really hard to divide photography up like that.
the concept of 'everyday happenings' is relative to who you ask
To me it's just people doing stuff you know, seemingly walking somewhere, doing chores, interacting with each other. I imagine this is the majority's views on it.
I love workplaces. That's an everyday thing that I find super interesting.
Experiments. I've been super busy...plus, no self-portraits, as of late, because I look like an unattractive mess. :/

Some pictures of the Eastbourne pier fire we had earlier, touched up a bit in Lightroom. This is going to hit my town massively since its probably the most iconic spot other then Beachy Head (the cliffs). It doesnt help either that we have Airbourne coming up very soon which is a popular airshow that is set on the beach, and most importantly on the pier.

now people can refer to Eastbourne the same way they refer to Brighton - "oh you live in Brighton, that place with the burnt out pier"

Someone really hates piers

maybe it's his views on guns

Yeah I don't think the clouds should have blue shadows.
The photograph stands up on its own without that.

yeah i use the "blue +" thing or whatever in lightroom tools but idk how to get it to only blues+ the water and not the sky

I'd be interested to see your raw file and possibly have a go at processing it, if you didn't mind
There's a brush tool that will allow you to create selections of an image to process, but I wouldn't recommend only editing the water, as I personally feel that sort of editing technique is 'dishonest', much the same way girls will edit their eyes or airbrush their skin in self portraits and claim "no filters!!! XD". I'd like to see it without any specific-color adjustments. I'll bet it still looks really good even without the water edited.

honestly this seems like a really dated and close minded way of thinking. sticking to a 'natural' photo can often be detrimental.
photo manipulation is super important.

people here probably edit photos in ways that you never would have noticed otherwise

At first I felt wrong about considering it, but I thought that the photo was useless and unbearably lopsided in its unedited form. So I just got rid of the building. You can see a bit of a patch near the top right. I'm surprised Desuh, bless his heart, didn't catch it.
another panorama thing of looking towards the waterfall that im shooting away from in the pic on the previous page i posted

i agree with kab, a bit too saturated. seems a bit over-exposed too.
Been feeling really uninspired lately and these photos I'm putting out for my 365 isn't helping tbh.

I was thinking more in the lines of being there with the people as it happens and documenting it. Most of my pictures, people are just figures I use for scale and to break up the patterns. I'm mostly not interested in what they are doing. Depends on the situation though, so maybe I should have expressed myself differently, sorry

Oooh! Yellowstone!
I have of that too but it's not with me right now.
The canyon works better in portrait format IMO
Also yeah, it's overexposed and oversaturated and alo looks too sharpened which is most noticably in the clouds in the upper left.
