Do you mind giving me a quick walkthrough to what steps you used to accomplish this? I'm really digging it.
Dvorak, I think that if you couldn't see the shadows indicating she's stood right by a wall, it would sell the effect tenfold. Really, I'm with Stopper and I'd love to know how you're accomplishing it to experiment myself.

One thing is that I didn't upload it to Flickr, which screen-sharpens images, but another is that there's some defect with my 50 1.4 that renders shots, no matter how in-focus, hazy. You can see here it was shot at 2.8 and neither her nose nor her hair further back are 'more in focus'. It sucks and hopefully someday I can repair or replace it.

i realized today that a 24mm f1.4 might be cool for long exposures, just testing some focusing and exposure times. sometime this weekend i might make a more honest effort to go somewhere with a little bit better star coverage than just my backyard
