OKAY. Ah! perfect time to ask, because such like the last photo in this set, can you tell me how to go about achieving that balance where you can see just fine what is in the bright light as well as in the dark, because when I take pictures, either one or the other is going to be either too bright to see what's in the sky or too dark to see what's in the shadow.
general advice would be so appreciated on this.

just a b/w edit in lightroom, then exported it to a program called alien skin exposure 6 which is pretty much just a lightroom clone but it's got options for grain, scratches and other textures, light leaks and stuff
to be honest it looks like it would fit better in a magazine without the blue glare

It's actually really harsh during the majority of the day, such as the first and second photo. Once the sun sets and it's twilight or directly in the shade then it's quite nice. Aside from that during the summer months shooting landscape style photos is quite difficult (have some examples on Flickr, just didn't post them here).
something like this for example, where I couldn't capture the dynamic range that I saw with my eyes even when pushing and pulling the exposure. highlights are blown and shadows are still dark. Doesn't look very good

Haven't shot anything in the longest time. So I'm pretty rusty. (Any feedback, other than boring subject would be nice)

I'm never sure where to crop my photos...
Those last two are pretty interesting and good crops for those subjects, so keep doing what you're doing
The first one really bugs me with the tilt - it's a great photo otherwise. Personally though, I think you should straighten it (regardless if the horizon will be a bit tilted in result - it's obscured in fog so it won't show)
