Doesn't matter, they were proven to not work. Also there was literally NO gasoline. Basically you get a Nazi Germany situation where you have all these awesome tanks you can't use because you have no gas.
I am confused, we are fucked when Zombies come. We can't do jack.
A abrams can run on anything ignitable
It's not the zombies that kill off Billions of people, its the panic. People made fake medications against Solanum. That made more people get infected. People were smuggling each other over borders, spreading the infection. The Great Panic was the death of the majority of the people dead in WWZ. The rest were either suicide, eaten by zombies, turned into a zombie, death in your sleep, or murdered by another person. [editline]10:38PM[/editline]
A abrams can run on anything ignitable
Read the fucking book, they failed hard. All armor failed hard. The zombies would just pile up on top of it on the thousands till the hatch was opened then they would get in and kill you. It is in the fucking book that they failed, and this thread is a discussion of the book.
Abrams can't barricade themselves on the 2nd floor of an apartment, then carve a hole in the door and pick off them as they come up stairs... That and flammables probably would be burnt up. In one situation in the book a family stays way up north near the artic circle, and within their 7th month are burning the tires from their cars.

And wearing shit-stained clothing and turning on each other. A situation mentioned in The Zombie Survival guide, a bunch of guys just turned the stairs into a ramp, and as one or two zombies were able to climb up, they would push them down with a stick.
Good thing The whole They don't need food They need to be shot in the brain is a impossible theory If you are mutated you suddenly become superman
Read the fucking book, it is not mutation. Solanum is a virus which takes over your brain. You literally are dead for an hour, then you re-animate. If you are a zombie, you walk slow, you eat people literally till your stomach bursts open, NO VITAL ORGANS ARE ALIVE. AT. ALL. ONLY THE LUNGS ARE STILL FUNCTIONING BECAUSE SOLANUM WANTS IT TO.
Franz josef land should not me a mega swarm

In fact, read the Zombie Survival guide. It gives the zombies looks and bodily functions IN DETAIL. Like their blood is brown, they shit undigested human flesh etc... [editline]10:45PM[/editline]
So the muscles aren't working either? Scary zombie.
Yes, they are. Zombies can knock at your door until their muscles disintegrate. They feel no pain because they are not alive. It is a virus that is making you a lifeless puppet.
I haven't read WWZ, should I?
I haven't read WWZ, should I?
Yes.
Yes, and the Zombie Survival guide. However WWZ is a very depressing/emotional book. The Zombie Survival guide is more humorous. Here the entire plot summary of WWZ, this however does not reflect how the book is portrayed. The real book is portrayed in a series of "interviews" with many different survivors. Including a survivor of Yonkers, a medieval castle, and even a story about a kid in japan with a Buddhist monk to appease the weaboos. Through a series of oral interviews, Brooks as an agent of the United Nations Postwar Commission describes the history of World War Z. Although the true origin of the zombie pandemic is unknown, it appears to begin in China. The Chinese government attempts to contain the infection and concocts a crisis involving Taiwan to mask the true purpose of increased military activity. Infected refugees seeking a cure and the black market organ trade spread the infection to other countries; an outbreak in Cape Town, South Africa finally brings the plague, then known as "African rabies", to global attention. As the infection spreads, only Israel and a few other countries initiate nationwide quarantine programs. The United States does little to prepare for the pandemic, since it is sapped of political will by several "brushfire wars" and lulled into a false sense of security by an ineffective and fraudulently marketed vaccine called "Phalanx". When the world recognizes the true scope of the problem, a period begins known as the "Great Panic". The United States Army sends a task force to Yonkers, New York in a high-profile military campaign intended to restore American morale. Due to reliance on ineffective Cold War-era tactics, and technology that is ineffective against zombies, however, the force is routed. Other countries suffer similarly disastrous defeats against their own infections. More countries succumb to the zombie plague and human civilization teeters on the brink of collapse. All of the United States east of the Rocky Mountains falls to the zombies. In an attempt to halt the flow of infected refugees from India, Iran destroys several key bridges within Pakistan, leading to a nuclear war between the two countries. Japan is forced to evacuate its non-infected population to South Korea, Kamchatka, and other areas. Meanwhile, millions of refugees attempt to live on the oceans in massive armadas of ships. Many people in North America flee to the wilds of northern Canada, but millions die after realizing they are unprepared for the harsh climate. The turning point of the war comes in South Africa, where the government adopts a plan drafted by an ex-apartheid government official named Paul Redeker. The plan calls for the establishment of small "safe zones", ideally protected by natural barriers, within which the infection can be eradicated. Large groups of refugees are to be kept alive outside the safe zones for the purpose of distracting the hordes of undead and allowing those within the safe zones time to regroup. Although Redeker and his plan are criticized as heartless, various governments worldwide quickly adopt their own versions of the "Redeker Plan". The United States, after relocating the capital to Hawaii and establishing the area west of the Rocky Mountains as its safe zone, restructures its economy for wartime production. The United States elects a coalition government, with a President and Vice President from opposing political parties. In the eastern United States, several quarantine zones attempt to maintain their barricades with minimal resupply drops and limited help. Several nations adopt military tactics and technologies from previous wars that prove more effective against the zombies than modern weapons. Eventually, after a conference in Honolulu, the remaining nations of the world agree to begin a military offensive to reclaim their territories. Ten years after the "official" end of the worldwide zombie war, millions of undead are still active and the geopolitical landscape of the Earth has been transformed. A democratic Cuba has become the world's most thriving economy and international banking capital. Following a religious revolution, Russia is now an expansionist theocracy. After its civil war, China has become a democracy but has been vastly depopulated. North Korea is completely empty, the entire population thought to have relocated underground. The United Nations also fields a large military, engaged in eliminating the remaining undead. In colder areas of the globe, outbreaks occur every spring, when frozen zombies thaw and find their way to human populations. Large swarms still roam the ocean floor and occasionally emerge onto dry land. Several regions, most notably Iceland, are completely overrun. Major effects of the war are a drastic reduction in the human population and the devastation of many environments and species, as much by desperate humans as by marauding zombies.
So say I was flying a 747, I land but am swarmed by zombies. But I am on freight plane and I have provisions to last a long time, would they get in.
So say I was flying a 747, I land but am swarmed by zombies. But I am on freight plane and I have provisions to last a long time, would they get in.
Depends. Do you have provisions to last ten years?
As long as you secure your shit, including your mental health. You'll be fine, but if you don't kill yourself or die in your sleep (Extreme depression caused people to simply die in their sleep, near the end of the war. One of the situations was a filmmaker who addressed the problem by making movies about vaporizing zombies with WW2 era Japanese death rays (microwaves)) [editline]10:54PM[/editline] FUCKING WOOT. There is a movie being made, and Max Brooks himself said "If this isn't the way I wrote it in the book, I don't want it made."
I would lock the doors, and live there for as long as my provisions last if I have no fuel I would sit and hope, If I had fuel I would take of (Perhaps losing an engine because of one getting sucked in) and fly to a safe zone.
And the script is still being written to fit the book. The original script was leaked and seemed a lot like Children of Men. [editline]10:57PM[/editline] Anybody who is thinking of reading WWZ, the book literally re-invented the Genre of Zombies.
Op failed to notice that in the book, it is said that there are white zones in someplaces not just in NK.
I'm hoping for a virus scenario, as in the zombies can die from extreme damage/old age/sarvation, etc.
Well they don't need food, and there was something from the survival guide saying there were 800 year old zombies found in a cave, and they can live without an entire body, so there's a problem there.
SHIT. I'm in Illinois, which is pretty much right next to the US Megaswarm. Luckily, I also have the Zombie Survival Guide, so I'm good.
Can we please leave it at Solanum is an impossible virus that defies the laws of physics.
Uberman, you're fighting a losing battle, just tell them to read the fucking book.
Funny thing is I am telling them what the book is saying. Read the fucking book. [editline]11:27PM[/editline]
Can we please leave it at Solanum is an impossible virus that defies the laws of physics.
How does it defy the laws of physics? Does it travel through time? Does it travel faster than the speed of light? Does it defy gravity? No. It does not defy the laws of physics. There is a living organism taking another living organism as a host. Although said living organism does not exist, and will not, does not mean it is impossible. There is a fungus which takes over the host's brain, so that the ant or grasshopper moves to a high place so the fungus can spread its spore more easily. [editline]11:28PM[/editline]
Op failed to notice that in the book, it is said that there are white zones in someplaces not just in NK.
A. Solanum is a virus. B. No other white zones, white zone means that the people disappeared without a trace. The NK people disappeared without a trace. Nobody knows where they are.
im just going to swim to Tasmania :P
Shit. To make it to the US safety zone, I have to cross that megaswarm.
The UK citizens are screwed because they can't buy guns... lol
