I still find it kind of stupid that India isn't a megaswarm area..
Scotland, the british safe zone :3 And near to some of the castles referenced that held out in the few days we had a zombie problem. [editline]03:30PM[/editline]
Looks us Scots will be building Hadrian's Wall V2 to defend against the zombies.
We actually (in the book) end up building a defensive line along the Antonine wall, rather than hadrian's wall.
East coast should be megaswarm all of india should be megaswarm most of china should be megaswarm middle east should be megaswarm ALL of Africa should be megaswarm
I hope OP realizes that Iceland doesn't have a population of a million or more. How do you explain this?
READ THE ENTIRE FUCKING POST BEFORE ASKING ABOUT THE MAP DAMNIT. So what I'm going to present today is a map I made of World War Z, with the help of a few friends. To those who haven't read World War Z, I direct you here for basic information and Here for a more detailed explanation. The map basically represents the world on the eve of January 7, 2020, when the UN and its member nations are ready to go on the offensive against the undead: the Honolulu Conference, 7 years after the Great Panic.
To all the people asking why the map doesn't make sense.
I hope OP realizes that Iceland doesn't have a population of a million or more. How do you explain this?
"Iceland is mentioned as being completely overrun and having one of the world's highest concentrations of undead, as it provided a haven for a multitude of refugees from Europe, but had almost no military power to fight the spread of the undead."
I hope OP realizes that Iceland doesn't have a population of a million or more. How do you explain this?
Iceland had a lot of refugees from Europe during The Great Panic and it when it got infected it didn't have enough military to fight it.
Iceland had a lot of refugees from Europe during The Great Panic and it when it got infected it didn't have enough military to fight it.
So you're saying that they actually managed to fit 700 000 people in boats and ship them off to Iceland? I just don't buy that.
Strange...I just had a dream about the world being infested by zombies last night; and I stumbled apoun this thread. Well anyhoo, being right outside of Philadelphia and being 2 weeks away from a safe zone isn't going to help my odds. But I would like to know, why the hell is there a giant megaswarm in the U.S a few states away from a safezone, does that make any sense?

There, swimming my way to Ireland.
Oh, I live nowhere near a safe zone(toronto)! Cool!
Northern Ireland a safety zone? what are ye smokin jim!
also, you'd think the maritimes would be safe. bunch of newfie islands like P.E.I
Why is the Falklands a mega swarm? only like 5 people and a small unit of royal marines live there. I'm also in a gray zone.
Why are the most remote of places heavily infested?
I think it's showing (basically) ratio of undead : living. Smaller populations mean that it's more likely that the whole area will become infested.
I nearly live in Scotland, so I'll just run a few miles north and I'll be in a safe zone.
Why is a freezing Russian island near siberia heavily infected?
What the fuck? Finland? I thought you were safe! Seriously, there isn't even that much population. I mean, come on, even the capital has under 1 million citizens.
Chernobyl should be a safe zone. Construct a fort made of lead and just chill there while the radiation destroys all of the zombies.
Isn't lead poisonous...?
I guess I will have to make my way up to Scotland...
Isn't lead poisonous...?
Yep.
Color key: Yellow: Safety zones. The zones established after the Redeker Plan was established (again, refer to links above). However, just because you're in a safe zone doesn't mean you can sit back and sip on martini. On the contrary, most existing safe zones were throbbing with outbreaks. An example is the US West Coast, which wasn't secured for quite a period of time. Hell, maybe you wouldn't succumb to zombies: maybe you'd get caught up in the Great Panic in June 2013. Gray: Infested zones. These zones will probably have at least 10-100 zombies, but this color is a bit too broad: if you're within a few hundred miles of a major city I can guarantee you'll be surrounded by thousands, maybe millions of zombies. Just because an entire country (like Brazil or Japan) is completely overrun doesn't mean their government has dissolved. They, and their military and any civilians who would qualify for the Redeker Plan, would rebuild in that country until the Honolulu Conference, where they go on the offensive either alone or with the support of the country that sheltered them. A good example is Canada and Mexico. Although both have a safe zone, both countries were too weak to take on their infestations by themselves, so a deal was struck with the U.S.: the Canucks and Mexicans keep the U.S. borders secure, and when the continental U.S. was secured then the American military would help its neighbors. Black: Megaswarms. Numbering in the millions at the very least. If you're still holed up near or in these areas, you better have a damned good zombie plan. Although being in this area isn't a death sentence you'll need to use every resource you got to survive. One slip-up, and the undead will crash through your door, flooding your house, and consuming every human inside. White: North Korea. No one really knows what happened to the North Koreans: every one of them literally just vanished, presumably underground. Whatever is waiting down there in subterranean North Korea---a stubborn North Korean military force or 23 million zombies---no country neither has the resources nor the willpower to find out. Common questions you'll probably ask: Q: Did you really take the time to make this? A: Yep. Q: Are those the exact safe zones depicted in the book? A: They're a combination of estimates based off of natural boundaries and what is hinted at or expressed in the book. Q: What happened to Europe's borders? Why is Tibet independent? Why does Russia have more territory? A: Because Europe has a lot of borders, and because at the end of the war Europe is more or less a country, the borders are exempt. Those of you wondering if you survived in that central safe zone, I can tell you that safe zone consists of Switzerland, eastern France, southern Germany, northern Italy, and western Austria. Tibet became independent after the war. Russia became the "Holy Russian Empire" and absorbed many of its former Soviet republics. Ukraine seems next. If you really want to find out more about what happened to your country, refer to the links above. Q: Goddamnit, why is Madagascar clean? They shouldn't be clean! (Pandemic 2 reference) A: Madagascar was probably initially infected, but the government more than likely cleared out the infestations, the refugees probably streaming towards northern Africa. Q: What type of zombies are these? Slow? Fast? Viral? Magical? A: Refer to the links above. Q: Do you think you'll get a lot of "Dumb" ratings on this thread? A: You bet your sorry ass I do.
Go more detailed and give us the Blue/Green/Red Zones. That's a lot more helpful for a local plan. Hell I'd even join a team if you made one. Each of us can get assigned a region to map out the possible B/G/R zones. I think that would be great.
But anyways... I'm in Ohio... I'll have to make a trip to Pacific Playland.
The island I live on isn't even shown on that map.

Fuck yeah. Safe old Scotland.
Still, there's fuck all worth saving in the South Island. I'd rather that America had California and Las Vegas than New York and Washington.
Who said they had a choice. Maybe the North was infected and the South wasn't, so the Military decided to hold out in the area that hasn't been infected yet.
I just realized: since I live in Florida I'd have to swim to Cuba to escape zombies. Oh the irony. :v:
