I'm sorry, but the title made me laugh my ass off for some odd reason.
say their shoe laces must have been undone and they tripped on them :buddy:
or something similar...
Lankist was a lawyer or something, he could help you, if he wasn't IP banned :sigh:
Does your mother own the side walk? Is it owned by the county? If owned by the county tell them it's not your sidewalk, sue the county instead. If your mother owns the side walk, sue them for trespassing.
be your own lawyer and then offer to pay them a dollar
Well they'll never get the money because it has to go through a judge and no judge in their right mind would charge you 1 million dollars for that. Is there any part of the story you aren't telling us? The real pain is that if you get a lawyer and you don't lost any money you still have to pay the lawyer fees which is a pain. They're pretty stupid for doing this because it puts on there record that basically in simple terms they are sue happy.
Good luck. Also... poop on their lawn.
Yeah I hope the judges in Canada are good. There's nothing really that I missed. Our sidewalk was icy on that day and he slipped and broke his wrist 2 years ago. A month later we had to contact our insurance company and about 2 days ago we just got this in a big envelope in the mail.
There is not enough proof, for fucking 1 million dollars.
He was injured. I am pretty sure he has medical recored ands stuff of this. He might not get a million but sure as hell might get maybe 50k.
hire a hitman
ur done
The only decent thing is to sue them back, they obviously don't have a case on you.
Countersue the fucker and get enough money back to cover the expenses you paid to go to court to fight and some extra =]
^This, if possible.
Too be honest i'm not acquinted enough with the law to understand if it works like this, but if so, go for it!.

Can you remember the type of weather on that day. Because if it was raining down snow like crazy then you might get cut some slack because you really can't maintain a sidewalk when snow is blowing and your getting like a foot of snow every hour.
Gel your hair back and go to town.
Just remember one word.

also I'm sure there is a statute of limitations on that kind of shit
the sidewalk is not your property. law suit over.
1 million dollars for the wrist? Are they nuts?!
burn his house down
The retarded part is, if somebody breaks into your house, steals your shit, and cuts themself on something while doing it, they can still sue you.
Nope it is your property.
If sidewalks are my property why can't I build on them?
The retarded part is, if somebody breaks into your house, steals your shit, and cuts themself on something while doing it, they can still sue you.
If you're an idiot, they can. You'll be able to counter-sue the shit out of them, for trespassing, breaking and entering, property damage (assuming they actually broke anything, but it's not like they're going to take a knife out and do it
[in which case you've got a totally different lawsuit to get them with], it's usually on broken glass or something) along with mental damages or some shit
Don't worry bro. With your limited means, in the Canadian legal system, the judge will probably just knock it down to a payable number.
Also, OP did a really shitty job of describing the incident.
[editline]10:26AM[/editline]
Also they can't sue unless they HAD to go onto your property. Otherwise you can just say that they weren't welcome and sue them for trespassing. If it was public space it's not your fault.
True story : I once had a friend who's name was Peter Mee, and his mother's name was Sue. The jokes never stopped rolling in.
Also, how the hell is someone slipping on your sidewalk a problem? here in Ban-stralia, that sort of shit is what you sue the COUNCIL over, who are meant to maintain it in the first place. I once got my bike tire jammed in a shitty hole between the cement and grass where they'd put the whole thing together entirely wrong, sending me flying and fracturing my elbow in two places.
Had a case, could have sued, but didn't in the end.
go to the white house slip on the sidewalk there and break your wrist
sue the president of the united states :smug:
That sucks.
OP is going to win the lawsuit, no judge is retarded enough to go trough with this kind of shit.
The guy who cant walk on ice should be fined 1 million dollars for making a false lawsuit.
I'LL TAKE THE CASE!
The only decent thing is to sue them back, they obviously don't have a case on you.
I still need more information on this.
And what do I counter sue for? Wasting our time?
I'm really sorry for you and your mom.
People who sue others for a million dollars over a broken wrist just to get rich have no fucking heart.

"False" is a very opinionated word. Just because the OP doesn't see any validity in the lawsuit, doesn't make it any falser in the prosecution's point of view. nevermind the fact that creating an invalid lawsuit isn't a crime.
Not that I believe the OP is at fault here.
That guy is an ass. Just because he slipped on your sidewalk?
