Topic and discussion in hand = Martial Arts/Fighting/MMA/Full Contact Sparring. I'm discussing how I find this Kung Fu bullshit to be..well, bullshit. Only likes of Judo, Shotokan Karate(go Machida), BJJ, and etc is effective in sparring, fighting, and shit. not this WUSHU AIKIDO ULTIMATE MARTIAL ART crap.
Exactly, but Martial Arts aren't practised for just sparring, fighting, and shit alone.
Exactly, but Martial Arts aren't practised for just sparring, fighting, and shit alone.
I'm sorry, but that just goes against the concept of Martial Arts. Martial Arts was developed for combat, meaning sparring, fighting, and shit. If you wish to use taekwondo, capoeria, and etc as conditioning, go right ahead. But, you come around here going: 'MMA IS A PISS CONTEST' and flaunt your TKD superiority.

Saying one Martial Art is better than the other is like saying that handegg is better than football. It's a matter of taste. Also, I never did such thing as claiming MMA to be piss contest, or claim TKD as a superior Martial Art.

Looks badass, but not for me. I do guitar, and piano, that could seriously fuck up my hands.
Whoops, my bad that's a different guy, I'll admit my mistake. but tell me this, who wins in a fight: trained lolAikido fighter or a trained Kickboxer or BJJ?
I have no idea, since I don't practice any of those Martial Arts, and I've never studied them in depth. In the end though, it would probably be the better fighter that wins, regardless of what Martial Art he practices.

Shotokan Karate, Judo, American Kenpo, and etc. has my respect because their practical and has been showed to be useful. Wing Chun? Aikido? Fucking comedy, outside of their demonstration videos and chereographed fights, they ain't shit.

But I'm pretty certain that the outcome of the battle has more to do with the fighter him/herself than the Martial Art.
Nice thread. Been training kickboxing for like half year now :D
3. Precautions and Warnings, I'M SERIOUS AS FUCK
Incapacitation

I've always wanted to take someones leg off with the back of my hand.
I'm fine with MMA and all, but the fanbase is just full of meathead idiots trying to be hard "HRUUAAH TAP OUT BITCH"
I've always wanted to take someones leg off with the back of my hand.
You're confused on two counts : 1) You're thinking of decapitation. Incapacitation means being knocked out of action. 2) Actually, decapitation is the removal of the head. The word you're searching for is dismemberment.
I'm fine with MMA and all, but the fanbase is just full of meathead idiots trying to be hard "HRUUAAH TAP OUT BITCH"
It's like every fanbase for every sport on earth. It has it's idiots. Football, baseball, hockey, even cricket has it's tossers. I for one, am a huge MMA fan and don't have a meathead bone in my body, and I know of many like me.
Hurf Durf
I suppose you would technically be incapacitated as well... but you don't need to take someone's leg off to do that.
Taekwondo sparring is SHIT. Let's break it down: Lower risk of injury? Yeah, that, and you never learn how to take a hit, you never improve, and you'll never be prepared for a real situation. More tactical? Oh wow, you have to use timing to get a point and not let the other guy get a point? Wow. Not. Go watch a real professional fight at the elite level, be it boxing or MMA, and try to tell me they aren't being tactical. If you believe so, you don't know shit. Requires strength and endurance? I lol'd. At best, you have to have mildly good cardio. Go enter a smoker (more or less, an unofficial fight) for 3 rounds at a decent boxing club and you'll learn what endurance is. TKD is a shit martial art in itself.
Yeah, I'll be absolutely prepared for a real situation when my body is fucked up in MMA from not even doing real fights that matter. Right. You obviously haven't taken a single sparring class in TKD. Professional TKD sparring is a fucking mindgame, its like poker and chess with your feet. MMA has about five seconds of tactical sparring, until they get too close and its a pissing contest on the ground. Believe me, when you're in a tournament and you're going long rounds with people better than you, you'll be exhausted after the first guy. Its a marathon. But you wouldn't know that.
I wish to be reborn as a Shaolin Monk.
Taek Won Do ain't all about kicks.
Where the fuck is Kempo. I spent 5 years getting my damn belt.

Everyone you fight has their own style of fighting, with their own strength and weaknesses. Seriously, an MMA fighter would take any TKD fighter down these days and tap the guy out.
Systema is a pretty cool style. Pretty effective too since Russia's been attacked by everything and its grandmother.
If you aren't watching the WEC right now get the fuck on Versus shit is awesome.
Systema is a pretty cool style. Pretty effective too since Russia's been attacked by everything and its grandmother.
Sorry mate. It's bullshido. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJDnMDJVWmQ Watch that. That guy is famous in the "systema" community. Because if a 40+ overweight, alcoholic can do it, I can too right? Sorry wrong. His partner in the video? Well let's just say russkie pissed his partner off, so his partner came out and admitted that everything they did and taught was staged (i.e pre-determined).
I want to get into some form of martial art but most people who are good at that stuff start to train when they're young and I'm nearly 18 now. Is age a factor?

TKD is shit, put me against any TKD fighter and if for some reason he out strikes me I'll slam his ass on the mat and break his fucking arms, all you self defense fags get the fuck out of here, tae kwon doe ain't shit that being said, I can give you information on folk style/greco roman/free style wrestling if you wish to do a section on that, I was a high school wrestler for 4 years, varsity starting heavy weight soph and junior year I have experience in brazilian jiu jitsu (still doing), san pai kenpo (how ever you spell it), western boxing (still doing), muay thai (about a years worth, muay korat style ftw) and the 3 types of wrestling including catch wrestling/grappling/no gi submissions [editline]08:38PM[/editline]
Sorry mate. Good thread. I, too, challenge my friends to a friendly fisticuffs every once in a while.
Good thread. I, too, challenge my friends to a friendly fisticuffs every once in a while.
I do that with my friends when they come over all the time. I also have a red punching bag that's square that we can hold, so we punch on that too. I'm helluva lot better than my friends.
