If you're a real person you call it Maths, if you're American, math. Simple really.
Also, both words are really fun to say.

After reading this thread, math and maths no longer look or sound like words.
That was the best video tonight
Thank you.
The "Look around you" series has some other funny videos.
Back on topic, in American math is the proper term.
But, with the way many languages/people rape their respective language, it can go either way.
The black kids in my class call it "Maff or Maffs"
I simply cannot pronounce the suffix -ths, so I have to stick with math.
Don't British people have a hard time saying the letter "r"?
No.
mathematics...
it should have been "maths" globally, but yanks ruined decided wrongly and they do sound pretty stupid... not much changed ;)
Maths is the contracted version of Mathematics the same way Stats is the contraction of Statistics.
Statistics are more than one statistic. Mathematics isn't more than one mathematic.
Maths. Because Americans can't say "s"
After reading through the posts, the word "math" has begun to lose all meaning.
mm I don't know, I usually write 'maths' but I usually say 'math'.
it's probably because if I would pronounce the 's', it would sould liks 'mafs' or like 'math-s (so with a short break after de 'th')' and that would sound weird.
european bytheway
Don't British people have a hard time saying the letter "r"?
You might be thinking of "h". No difficulty pronouncing it though, we just don't bother :v:
Maths sounds like something one of your dumbass 4channer friends would say. I use math, though maths is correct anywhere but in America. Then again so is the metric system. :/
Does it really matter?
meths
My british Computer Science teacher would give me so much shit for saying math that I now say maths.
