I really hope they stop doing meme and reddit advertising.

they did? care to point out where, I must of missed it. :<
The new episodes were great. Especially the first one, it was a lot funnier than some of the episodes from season 6.

Well its the thought that counts
I've no idea how that happened :S
Didn't like the second episode. It seemed like it was trying to be "relevant", but at the same time drawing upon an outdated craze for a really bad mix.

Futurama has never before gone so over the top with its lack of sensible physics and reality. I like how they usually have a limit on how outlandish they get, but this was just too far.
Bend in like it called you a poopoo face!

first thing i thought while waiting for the new episode was "boy i hope they don't add any memes in"
2 seconds into the first episode
...
i really hope they don't take that direction with futurama, it would pain me greatly to see it become a family guy like show. personally though, i don't even enjoy it when futurama tries to be ~hip and relevant~. i prefer futurama when it's story driven and with jokes that aren't just pop culture references, like the lady gaga one from last (half?) season for example.
I just hope they don't add any more of those into the introduction. I love reading those lines so it was a massive let down when I saw that. At least they didn't do it for the second episode.
I definitely think it's an incredibly clever marketing campaign and I know why they did it, but I don't really like it
Futurama has always had 'current' pop culture references. Just because you guys don't like them, doesn't mean other people don't.
Titanic episode in Season 1 was made because of James Cameron's Titanic movie. They did a whole episode parodying Napster, when ever they go into the Internet there are references all over the place.
I doubt they'll use another one of those Fry memes in the intro though.

There was a Lady Gaga reference? I don't remember that.
titanic was 5 years old by then and made fun of a lot. i think there's a difference between references / parodies that will last awhile (like the Star Trek episode) and just throwing stuff in there because it is what is hip at the moment.
10 or 20 years from now the star trek episode will still be funny but all the current references probably won't be.

I'm not sure it really matters, once some time has past (and everybody has finished being overly critical) you won't even notice those references.
i prefer futurama when its story driven and not all of the jokes feel forced and the episode doesn't feel rushed, which is how i felt about last year's episodes.
references are bad when they're thrown in to try and fit in, be hip, are forced, whatever. that's just how i feel about the meme intro, the lady gaga reference, bender's "i like turtles" and "PWNED NOOB!", though, i know there's an audience for that kind of stuff, but i personally don't think it fits in with futurama at all.
i always enjoy futurama's episodes because they are story driven and not just a bunch of (bad) jokes flying at you every second.

Personally I enjoy the odd episode with little story and the 'bad' jokes.

Those made me chuckle, am I stupid?
So I was the only one who thought the second ep was really awesome?
Those made me chuckle, am I stupid?
if you want to take it that way, sure
but that isn't how i meant it, those jokes are just simply bad to me

"A Flight to Remember" aired in 1999, "Titanic" came out in 1997, 2 years old not 5. it was suppose to Air in 1998 but it got delayed according to the Audio Commentary.

But the first episode is set in 1999, why would they air it in 98'?
I love how in that episode they completely ignored the fact that the time code they used was paradox correcting. Thusly he wouldn't have disappeared and Nixon wouldn't have become president.

no the paradox corrected itself he melted
NIXON ALWAYS WINS!
AROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo!
Holy shit I love Nixon
no the paradox corrected itself he melted
That's not how the timecode corrects paradoxes.
It corrects paradoxes by infusing duplicates with doom radiation. But I don't think he was a duplicate, unless he had to go back in time again for a second purpose.
He was a duplicate. You saw who he was a duplicate of when he was born. The baby should have been crushed by a boulder or something.
[editline]28th June 2012[/editline]
Or been a stillbirth, but that wouldn't have been funny probably.
In that episode the time paradox wasn't all about duplicates but rather on "He prevented stuff from happening which made him go back in time".
For now 7 season is quite avarage, specially when we compare it to previous one.
Yeah, but there is a problem. Is the term limits still in place in 3012, or did they get rid of it(to make it funnier). It was alright, mostly the intro was funny(free beer?), but fell a little flat at the end.
