I don't even know what a scale is.
Time to play some piano, aww yeah.
C major I am so smart :v:
E Phrygian Me too :v:
B sucks, H is where its at.
B sucks, H is where its at.
See, my older piano teachers always used H, but then everyone used B so I used it aswell. [editline]10th July 2011[/editline]
Decided to learn some scales today Unfortunately the second one in the list was the blues scale so I ended up spending a few hours messing with that and not bothering to learn any others :v:
Also, I never got blues scales to be honest, something sound good with some chords some don't. Basic minor blues scale I use if in C is C, Eb, F, F#, G, Bb and back to C.
B sucks, H is where its at.
Nope, H sucks. It's really confusing especially when my music teacher refers to Bb as B and B as H. :psyduck:

i've been playing piano for eleven years now. right now i'm learning to play Les collines d'Anacapri by Debussy. really tough, but so beautiful
I don't think I'll ever be able to learn to play those kind of classical pieces, atleast not on my own. [editline]10th July 2011[/editline] I'm trying to learn this, but I don't know.
i've been playing piano for eleven years now. right now i'm learning to play Les collines d'Anacapri by Debussy. really tough, but so beautiful
Sounds awfully complex. Good luck. :v:
sheet music isn't helping either some of the indications on it are ridiculous "like having a sad regret" really claude? is it so hard to just say "decrescendo" and "rubato"?
I'm awful at reading sheet music, I guess I just don't do it often enough.
Hi, wasn't sure whether I was allowed to post this here, but considered theres a good chance that the people reading this will be interested in keyboards  I'm trying to sell my Yamaha EZ-200 keyboard. It's in excellent condition, hardly...hardly used, includes all the cables, manuals that came with it when new etc. I have the box (not in new condition but ok) I would like around £130 for it (Will consider other offers), I bought it new for £180, so if you live in the UK and want to by a like-new keyboard, and save yourself £50, contact me. UK only because of postage, would be cool if we could arrange for you to pick it up, but that would of course depend on your location  Here's a link: http://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/musical-instruments/keyboards/digitalkeyboards/portable_keyboards/ez-200/?mode=model Has music rest that clips ontop, touch sensitive keys (full sized keys), has a cool grand piano feature, and optional light up keys etc... (If this is not the right place etc, tell me and i'll happily remove it)
Looks like one of those 'small' synths, I hate playing on them.
I used to have one years ago. It taught me how to play that song from Titanic :v:
Even though I can't play keyboard for shit, I have to say Keytars are sexy
Even though I can't play keyboard for shit, I have to say Keytars are sexy
The band that played after us yesterday had one. Too bad they barely used it.
This is cool, I want this!! But the best synth is of course Synth1.
my friend has one that he rebuilt from some broken parts ~*they sound like absolute sex*~
I got a keyboard for Christmas years ago, with the intention of teaching myself. It got put aside and I ended up 'teaching' myself guitar, in the 'learn songs from ultimate-guitar.com' way. I'd like to teach myself to play it now that I have a better understanding of music, but I found it hard enough to teach myself proper music theory guitar stuff from a book, and so don't know if I could handle it with a keyboard. Could anybody recommend a book I should check out? I know the basics from doing music at secondary school.
This is my synth: I started on piano about six years ago, but I never could get into the "normal" stuff you get taught at piano lessons, so I pretty much switched to synthesizers. I still can't read music worth shit, but I don't need to in order to compose my own stuff.
Welp I made a keyboard that plays all the scales http://www.stephenl.net/tut/scales
When I get enough money, I plan to get some distortion pedals for my crappy Casio CT-638.
This is my synth: I started on piano about six years ago, but I never could get into the "normal" stuff you get taught at piano lessons, so I pretty much switched to synthesizers. I didn't care about theory, but then I started learning more and more, and realised how helpful it really is. What is that synth and what did you get it for?
My dad was a concert pianist, so piano has been pretty much forced onto me since I was little. I've grown to really love it, just did my Grade 8 exam with Trinity College a few months ago (highest exam before you go to your letters, if it's different outside of Australia), and I really love playing both classical and modern songs. I improvise heaps, thanks to my knowledge about theory I can easily compose a crappy pop song, it's a really valuable skill to have. Anyway, can anybody suggest a cheap, good synth/keyboard to have? Something easy to use, but with a wide range of awesome (customisable) sounds. Doesn't have to be too cheap but I really can't decide on anything. Also, if you play piano, learn a song that you feel really passionately about, and only play it when you feel you really need something to help you through something. I've been playing Rachmaninoff's Melodie 3 in E Major, and it has an amazing effect on me.
Bumping because I need Keyboard recommendations. I have an acoustic upright piano at home, but it's not doing the trick for me anymore and I can't really take it anywhere for obvious reasons. I need a fullsized keyboard with a really good and realistic piano sound and realistic heavy feel on the keys. Price can range from anything up to 1500 euros.

That one looks promising, could you take some photos of it and upload? Would be awesome.
I can't. My only camera is with my dad on holiday.
I play keyboard for college, but I play bass on my left hand (Split keys) and it's just fucking awesome. I have a Yamaha PSR-E323. The only bad thing about it is that the keys are light and flimsy, but I'm used to it now.
