Cantonese is superior Chinese

Yeah, if you speak it fluently! There are hundreds of resources for learning Mando and pretty much nothing great for Canto.

I think this marks the first time on Facepunch that someone has been banned for racism in a language other than English :v:
Friendly Bump, wondering if anyone else here speaks Hokkien/Fukkien/ Minan Hwa?
I started learning Mandarin through an online course my school offered, but I had to drop the class after the first semester. Does anyone have any resources they can point me towards so I can try picking it back up again?

Memrise - http://www.memrise.com/ - vocabulary
QQ Messenger - http://www.imqq.com/ - get a nice profile picture and randoms will add you, you can practice mandarin really easily
Lang8 - http://lang-8.com/ - good for intermediate-advanced stuff, you basically get a blog where you post entries in your target language and have it evaluated by native speakers (and help out, too!) - it has tons of Chinese people
Google Translate (seriously) - http://translate.google.com - I use it as a dictionary, to translate single words I don't know. It also comes up with a list of possible translations, for example if I input 生气, I get

which has a list of possibilities - these aren't all accurate, though, but don't be afraid to make mistakes. It helps once you know a few basic characters to get the drift (see: Memrise, start with the course "Mandarin Reading Survival")
That's honestly all I use. I learn grammar and such from talking to people in QQ.
Hey! I have a friend who is trying to find out what some writing is on her cricket cage she bought ages ago. We think it may be Chinese, would anyone be able to tell what it says?
Image she has of the writing: http://www.deviantart.com/art/Can-YOU-read-understand-this-help-me-out-please-364754652

Top right, she can draw in characters and pick them.

Thanks, sent it on to her although trying to use it myself it seem nearly impossible to use.
It's probably because her reproduction of it was terrible (or it could be Japanese maybe?). I can't read the symbol at the bottom for example.

Ya neither of us could get anything from it (I was mostly having trouble drawing with my tablet in it). I found some very very similar characters for the bottom right character but couldn't get the first one.
I'm sorta learning Chinese. I only know some simple phrases, basic sentence structure and curse words (courtesy of all of my Chinese friends).
I was in the Japanese thread; what's the problem? >:[

Until westerns come along. Just look at China and North Korea's relationship.
Then again, the west does the same. People will always pick sides with the most similarities.
