http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/03/31/action-half-life-the-5-a-m/ Some people did a run through, but the dead girl in the suitcase was too graphic to show on youtube and there are absolutely no photographs of her on the internet.. There are more of these hidden throughout the mod, though this one is larger than the map itself. [editline]5th September 2012[/editline] Hondo himself is notorious for hiding massive puzzles within his other maps, too, ones which make the actual playing area of said maps insignificant. They're also notorious for being filled with colors and patterns which can damage someone's eye if they stare at it too much.
Gah, I spend the past hour studying this map. It's extremely creepy how unknown it is, that video you posted is the only playthrough of it on the entire internet. There's a bunch of threads on random forums dating back to 2001 where there's an OP explaining it but no one posted after it. And you're right, there's not a SINGLE picture I can find of the suitcase girl. I found the thread the youtuber guy was posting these videos on (he mentioned he's posting them on "the thread" during the second video) on SomethingAwful, and managed to find him in the 150+ pages there are in the thread. There was a huge discussion about ahl_5am but the guy decided to make his own thread to post the secrets of Hondo's maps. He said in the video he posted a picture of the suitcase girl in the thread he made, and gave a link. I decided to click it, and it turns out I have to pay $20 to view it because the thread's older than 6 months....WHY. I just want to see what's so disturbing.
We tried to play ahl_5am, but it kept crashing at I don't know what time it was but it was the big white room made out of cubes that had those turrets. Never did finish it.
You should also like, when you think you see something, then you like, turn around to see what it was, and then like, at the corner of your screen, you'll just see a glimpse of something, or like when you're looking around, something in the scene moves while you're like, looking and you look back and then it's like, not there.
Don't be such a pussy it can't be that ba-JESUS CHRIST
I tried learning to gliss once. If I had heard this first I'd have left music forever.
Had a dream about a mysterious intruder last night. In the dream I came home from somewhere quite late (just like I did yesterday when I was late at the gym). So it's really dark outside and our front door is partially open. So I'm just thinking for myself "my dad probably just left the door open" (although he's in Estonia right now). I enter my home and yell out a hello to inform my parents on my arrival since they would not hear me open the door. Nobody is at home. All the lights are on with the exception of the bedrooms. When suddenly I hear some faint sound in my parents bedroom. The door is only slightly open and as I try to push it open I feel that someone is pushing against it. I panic and try to close the door fast but whatever is on the other side of the door is now pulling it. So I decide to let this bastard have it and plan or ramming the door so that the intruder whom is now pulling it will get squished between the door and the wall. Once I ram it the door just hits the wall with a bang like nothing is there and neither do I see anything unusual in the room.

It's a combination of having to perform under stress, fear of the unknown, fear of being unprepared and good old anticipation of horror. The Intruder itself is also based on all kinds of fear mechanics and phobias.
am I the only one who's just hearing an obnoxious drone?
The thing he posted is actually a very special kind of glissando. It's what's colloquially referred to as a 'Shepard tone', it's a tone that seems to infinitely ascend or descend.
so when your times up, and the intruder arrives how does that work if you're still looking around for stuff do you just end up back in the house? does the game let us know when he arrives? can you go outside the house during the finale? how much can you tell us without giving spoilers?
First project I actually want to be greenlit. Good luck!

I'm not 'cheating' to get you to participate in the finale as it were. When the finale event starts it's communicated very clearly to the player. I don't intend to stop the player from exiting the house with invisible walls during the finale. You won't want to leave home though, because that's where your weapons are, and you might have barricaded it beforehand. It's by far the best place to make your final stand. I don't know if I mentioned it specifically, but like the rest of the game you can try to remember where your items are in the house by pressing R to close your eyes. [editline]6th September 2012[/editline] That's 'R' for 'Remember', by the way. Clever, huh?
Best of luck royzo, you're a pretty cool guy. I really like how you're keeping the mechanics hidden from us, I hate how 99% of games are spoiled when you play them, even if you didn't want to learn about it you still get stupid shit spoiled for you that kind of takes away from the learning experience of the game.

If you get a gun how do you reload it? Unless you close your eyes and reload it. make that hapen pls [editline]7th September 2012[/editline] Ninja tigers
You have to remember how to reload it
When the finale event starts it's communicated very clearly to the player.
yep, scarred again. i'd like it if it was like the trailer. you've been scarvaging for two days now and you as you walk past a window you see him watching you (naturally with that fucking terrifing broken neck.)
so, if the Intruder model is procedurally generated based on how you act, would you be able to tell us what affects the model's generation? like, would placing priority on finding a weapon give him cuts and bullet holes all over his body, etc? [editline]September 6th[/editline] I mean, I don't really see much room for your actions affecting the model. how do you affect it to any meaningful degree when your options can seem somewhat limited?
Why does it say its only at 3% for me? I thought it was at 6%.
Why does it say its only at 3% for me? I thought it was at 6%.
You're slowing down the development with your STUPID questions
You're slowing down the development with your STUPID questions
Sorry. I was just thinking there was a problem.
If you get a gun how do you reload it? Unless you close your eyes and reload it.
It'll save him time with making reload animations
Are you planning on releasing this independently from Steam if the Greenlight thing doesn't work out? I'd gladly pay $20 for it and at the rate that people are voting, it looks like it could be awhile.
If the Intruder had Tim Curry's voice it would be about 20% scarier. You've just finished building your last barricade with what wood you could scrounge from the shed outside, about half the doors in the house are blocked off completely. You're putting the last nail on the boards to your bedroom when, from outside the front door, you hear a sound which makes like ice crawling down your spine, a sound which puts your hairs on end and your heart pounding in your chest. As you scramble for your shotgun loaded with the only two shells you could find, it cries out again, a drawn out howling of mangled words. The front door is blasted into matchsticks - then silence. For what feels like an eternity there is silence. Then footsteps. One by one, there is nothing but the achingly slow rapping of whatever claws, talons, or hooves ascending the stair. It reaches the summit. Silence once more... There is a scratching at the bedroom door, inaudible at first but growing louder by the second. It grows in intensity, the scratchings now clawing, the clawing now slashing, and hacking, and breaking, and... The door is no more. It stands there, its true form incomprehensible, the buckshot glances off its body without even scratching it. It steps into the room as you scramble back into the corner. It waits - waits for its prey to break down, to give in to the futility of resistance. And as you lay the empty gun aside and break down into tears it makes its attack. The elderly TV star and quite popular voice actor makes his attack, pouncing on you, beating you to death with his only Daytime Emmy Award as he screams over and over again: "'Ello Poppet!".

Yeah, I'd pay for this as well if it doesn't get greenlit. I also like the idea of only having one magazine or a couple of shells for a gun. It worked well in Condemned: Criminal Origins except when you found another gun of the same type and wondered why you didn't just take the magazine out of it. Are we going to be literally having a big boss battle with The Intruder?
I would also pay for this. Not often you get gold like this.
I can't believe this is getting voted down so much. Do these people realize how greenlight works? You vote it down if it's a shitty half-assed gamemaker project, not if you just wouldn't play it.

I don't want to read ALL the things you've written to describe your game. You made a video and you didn't allow me to understand what the game is about. Like an adver where you can figure out that they're selling you a car but all you can see is a long road. WRONG. Change it. NOW." it's not surprising. That's an actual quote.
downvotes don't really affect anything AFAIK
Actually no, downvotes can lower the percentage. Which is why this mod has been going down.
This makes me sad. A game with so much effort put into it only to be shot down by dickheads thinking its a Slender rip off.
