here's how I think it works: basically, if Valve see a game they like, they greenlight it. being in the top ten just means that they'll see it first, so if they like what they see they'll definitely add it. they don't have to add a game that's in the top ten if they don't think it works or it needs to be on Steam.
so yeah, here's hoping Valve likes this game. I'm sure they will.
Robin Walker said he liked it. Here's to hoping the Greenlight team likes it as well.
There is one gun that's guaranteed to be in the game, and that's the revolver. I mentioned this on the Greenlight page, but I intend for there to be other weapons as well with distinct properties and difficulty to attain.
On one end of the spectrum there could be easily acquired, ineffective weapons and on the other end there could be hard to acquire, highly effective weapons with scarce ammo.
This might include other guns as well, but it's a delicate issue. I need to do playtesting to see what weapons there should be and how hard it should be to get them. If it's too complicated or unbalanced I'll stick with having only one type of gun.
so no solid gold AK47 with AGOG scope? :v:
so no solid gold AK47 with AGOG scope? :v:
It's no buy then.
Weapons should have a shit ton of rails, with tactical attachments and having your character yell "reloading" at the top of his voice when reloading the weapon. Regardless of being alone he'd still yell.

don't forget the perks, commando pro, and cold blooded
also should have grenade launchers and LMGs and we call in UAVs

And when you shoot the intruder you should get an obnoxious xp pop up.

There should be a solid-gold AK with shitloads of rails and attachments next to the note saying "Pewdiepie is a cunt." :v:
Add death streaks and its done.
And then you forget something... The Intruder has your spare car keys.
Opps. Game over.
And when you kill the intruder the game automatically releases a frag movie on YouTube with obnoxious dubstep, strobe effect, lens flare, etc.

what was that game again
"get a life" or something
Is there any specific reason Pewdiepie disliked or is it just because of the way he does his LP's and style?

Not only is it his style, but he monetizes his videos and all of his reactions are faked. He just fakes everything he does so he can rake in the cash.
He makes up to $700k dollars every quarter.

He's probably not a bad person and I've laughed at a few of his playthroughs, but I just find him annoying to listen to on end. He also overreacts to a lot of stuff.
Its not Pewdiepie i hate, its his fans.
Yup, stupid fans.
And how his humor goes really low. Like toilet humor low.
Also his accent can get quite annoying when it mumbles his speech.
You're not planning on selling this, are you? I'd gladly pay for it, but I noticed in the Greenlight page's comments that a lot of people are asking how much it's going to cost. I'm assuming that you're planning it to be free. You should edit that into the description, because people on Greenlight are stupid and don't want to pay for The Intruder.
Why would you assume it to be free? I assumed all GL games cost money unless explicitly stated.

And yet we have people like nurses saving lives making much much less than that. Hell even doctors don't make that much.
what was that game again

Close, it's called "Get Lost".
I have an idea to share about damaging the intruder.
An idea I had for an Amnesia-esque game idea of my own.
Just because you shoot the creature in a lethal manner it doesn't mean that dies immediately.
You shoot it and it can take a surprisingly long time for it to bleed out and die.

I too was of the understanding that if you put your game on Greenlight it's intended as a commercial product unless stated otherwise.
I've addressed this in the comments before; I haven't really talked about it much because I don't have a Source Engine license yet, and it's too early to tell what I should charge. I'm told Valve helps you establish a worthy price tag based on statistics from similar titles. I'm going to defer to them regarding the actual specific price.
However, my intentions are for it to be a reasonably low figure, especially when compared to the Call of your Duties and the Creed of your Assassins. It's a small independent game and I think I should charge accordingly.
All it needs to be perfect is an exclusive deal with Hanes to come with a pair of stain resistant underwear.
I usually don't like horror games, but this seems like, if it's well executed, that it will be fun regardless.
I'm not sure if it's been asked yet, but are all weapons going to be viable? I mean, say you don't spend much time on finding one and get a kitchen knife or something, would all the extra time preparing the house make it possible to win?

Basically, the less effective the weapon is, the more you rely on skill, luck, quick thinking and perseverance to win. Sticking to low-grade weapons is a lot riskier, as you can imagine.

I forgot to try out Stereoscopic 3D for quite a while, and I tried it out again today. The house's kitchen looks really good in 3D, and boarding up a window looks really good too because you can kind of see in between the planks.
The Source Engine's natively very good with stereoscopic 3D, and I'm going to try to keep it that good while developing the game. Mostly that means fiddling with crosshairs and maybe skyboxes to solve depth issues.
Fun fact: the initial playtests of the finale event were held in stereoscopic 3D at a LAN party. It made it more immersive and fun, and it had the unforeseen bonus of the spectators not being able to see the Intruder properly when he showed up because they weren't wearing the glasses. The finale was ill adjusted to their skill level and they all died horrible deaths, but that's the point of playtests, finding that out.
Please come out soon. :(
royzo, i would LOVE to play this! it does everything right that slender did wrong: slender was "it's not worth running because he's always just behind you anyway", where this is "oh god, IS he behind me? i better find the gun/banana/fish before he-HE WAS BEHIND ME OH GOD"
Also you are allowed to blink
Forgive me if this has been addressed, but do you ever hallucinate? For example, when you start walking down a hallway the door at the other end just suddenly starts getting further before you snap back into reality? Or just other startling things that can't harm you but scare the shit out of you.
I remember playing a PS2 game forever ago where you were in a prison with all these monsters roaming around and sometimes when you'd go into the bathroom and you'd look into the mirror you'd see a few of them surrounding you with their arms crossed in some ritual-isque pose and of course when you turn around they aren't there. I love shit like that.

also that idea doesn't really seem usable in this kind of game. it's not linear/focused on story and adding hallucinations would completely distract from the purpose of the game.
Can someone make an 8 bit version of this for my shitty laptop

Well I'm not sure how well it could be used in this sort of game, but even if it's just something like seeing a creepy figure outside of a window as you pass by it. Only because the first playthrough of the game seems like it'll be amazing, but after you get a feel for how long has to pass before the intruder can spawn makes the beginning less fun (Assuming the events are random triggers). I'm also suggesting this because I want to watch people stream the game and freak out when they see them. But as you said, it's still likely it could hurt the game more than make it better.
