Oh god.. i can imagine it now. Intruder: He he i got you now boy. Player: FUCK! * Tosses a spoon" Followed by the Intruder getting instantly killed
hey guys i killed the intruder with a box of cotton swabs
The ending twist is that you were the intruder all along and the monster is actually just a guy returning home from work. :v:
The ending twist is that the Intruder is the repressed sexual feelings for your father. ~GOTY 2012 so deep~
hey guys i killed the intruder with a box of cotton swabs
Achievement get.
Achievement Unlocked: Reverse Psychology Kill the Intruder by leading him into the dark basement and stabbing him to death. [editline]24th September 2012[/editline] Of course, knives should be very difficult to find.
I'd love to use that to set up an elaborate trap to catch the Intruder, pull some Scooby Doo shit and catch him under a net
The intruder was old man Jenkins all along!
Imagine if you could have a dream about the Intruder breaking in and is about to eviscerate you or however he murders you brutally, only for you to wake up and be completely fine. [sp] Suddenly, you notice the door's been broken down, and you hear a creak from behind you. You turn to face it, but it's too late. You're done for. [/sp] [sp] Adding on that, an interesting mechanic could be for you to have gone to sleep and wake up, do some things, only to wake up for real (or even be scared awake, by being killed or something nonsensical and dreamlike happening to you) some time later. I think those are the kinds of things that would be scary and cool to play. Not knowing whether or not you're dreaming at the time could keep you on the edge, when a dream could very easily turn into a nightmare fast. [/sp]
Holy hell yes What about a 50% percent chance of having a nightmare before waking up? When you don't get a nightmare, then it just fades to black or whatever and you wake up When you do, it fades to black and you have a nightmare that you're waking up and something creepy happens like the door creaking open or seeing the the intruder in the corner of your room/end of your bed. When you wake up from a nightmare your character's head propels up and he gasps.
+1'd on greenlight. I swear if this game doesn't make it, I will kill myself with a box of cotton swabs and a soup ladle.

Not entirely sure if it has been mentioned before.... but what if your character gets insomnia? It would be cool if you were to rarely see flashes of people (or maybe the intruder) in the Fight Club sort of way. Kinda like this?
Not entirely sure if it has been mentioned before.... but what if your character gets insomnia?
I think it would be hard to capture the sense of delirium you get when you have insomnia. I suppose that the best way to describe is that things happen and they don't make sense - but not because the things that happen are totally crazy, but because you cannot make sense of what you see. you are constantly confused and the day has no beginning, middle, or end. things also don't seem to work the way they did yesterday. they work the same - but differently, somehow. an open door seems to swing on its hinges more than it did before, but you know that it's the same door, the same hinges, the same everything. you just feel disconnected, as if you're looking at yourself from the other room and telling some guy what to do; your hands don't seem to do what you want them to, your legs buckle if you try and run, your fingers are feeling about a meter longer than they were yesterday. to get a proper feel for it, I would suggest slowing the day/night cycle, perhaps lowering the gravity ever so slightly to simulate the dislocation and floating feeling that you get in your limbs, as well as the standard debuffs from regular sleep withdrawal, whatever those may be. I have no idea if these things are possible to implement without being too much of a hassle, but for an accurate idea of what it's like to have insomnia these are the only things I can come up with.
Maybe some ambient sounds like crickets, owls, and dogs barking in the distance and one of the indicators of the Intruder coming is dead silence.
Oh my god, It'd be fucking terrifying. The ambient sounds stop. Im looking out of my windows in panic, trying to see him somewhere. After a moment I hear a dog barking. I would release myself into my pants in sheer relief. [editline]24th September 2012[/editline] That said, paranoia would be cool too. Hearing the characters heartbeat/breathing would be an indicator for the intruder. Or it could also be just you being paranoid. [editline]24th September 2012[/editline] This will probably be one of those games i buy but never play because its too scary for me.
The cicada has a weird sound, use that
I think ambient sound going dead when the intruder arrives is a very scary thing if used right. Forests go silent when something is happening, much like this idea.
There should be an easter egg. Put a radio in the house, when you try to use it it just makes a buzz and your character says something like *Hmph.* But then there is a 1/1000 chance that Spooky Scary Skeletons starts playing
Guys, what if Royzo makes it so that sometimes parts of your mic gets recorded randomly, so that if there's co-op the Intruder can use things your partner said. Basically, imagine a situation, involving you and Buddy. Buddy goes off on his own, and says "You find anything yet?" using the in-game mic, which the game randomly decided to record. Some time later, you hear "You find anything yet?" and run to go meet up with the source of the sound, you run face-first into the Intruder, waiting in ambush.

Shit like this could really set your game apart from the rest, Royzo.
-snip- nevermind
this may be a repeated question, but it has been something that has been burning on my mind since I found out about this game. Will there be spooky scary skeletons?
this may be a repeated question, but it has been something that has been burning on my mind since I found out about this game. Will there be spooky scary skeletons?
You're probably the third, or fourth, person to mention that in the last two pages I believe.
I can imagine how this would work. Play game, hear "oww my motherfucking foot! fucking desk!" Wtf. Game taken off Steam for misleading rating.
he's saying when you press the mic key to talk to your buddy in co op, not just recording every sound the mic picks up
