But will it blend?
I want an achievement for closing my character's eyes when the intruder comes and get me

The Intruder is after you, as you are desperately trying to escape.
You are running around downstairs making your way towards the exit.
When you're try to open the door you realize it's blocked off and there's no way out.
You turn around and see something coming around the corner.
You close you eyes in sheer terror hoping that your death will be swift and painless.
You hear it coming closer, it's wretched sound and wheezy breath approaching you.
When you realize it's over for you and he is right in front of you, when all of a sudden...
It's quiet.
Do you dare to open you eyes?
Maybe if the intruder would only 'attack' if the player's eyes were open, so if they saw him coming and held them shut, they'd have to wait until they let go of the R key for the inevitable to happen

Soo... An inverted SCP 173?

Nah, only when the intruder gets to you whilst you're holding your eyes shut. Peekaboo!
Make sure this doesn't get confused with another indie game in development, Intruder

Mine has a definite article.
Inspired is the right word. I've seen Marble Hornets episodes, and some Slenderman art, and I quite like the look of it.
I'm not confining myself to the established canon, or what the Slenderman is supposed to be capable of/look like.
I might deliberately stray away from its resemblance to the Slenderman. Some people love it, but others think I'm jumping on the Slender bandwagon, which is really annoying considering I initially started this project in 2010.
Taking long breaks from the project has really come to bite me in the arse in that regard. Apparently indie horror games are in the zeitgeist. Luckily this idea is very original, and it should still prove very unique.
Indeed, indie horror games are in the zeitgeist.
Luckily, Intruder is set apart from the pack in a varity of ways.
And to add something else: Personally I'd stay away from slenderman. Slenderman has become a very popular theme for games recently, and to be honest I think the character as a whole is much too overdone.
I also get angry when people see a dark man in the distance and INSTANTLY assume it's slenderman.
Just because there's a dark figure silently stalking you, doesn't mean it's slenderman.
The whole idea of a silent stalker has been done WAY before Slenderman's inception
For instance: The Strangers (Movie) for one. Granted, there's more than one entity, but you still don't know who/what they are nor why
they are doing it. A very spooky prospect.
A much deeper story can be developed using a custom character, leading you to think who or what is stalking you and why
Sorry to bore any of you, I just take story development and it's affects on those playing very seriously, and I can definitely see this game having a psychological effect on the player much more than the next "jump scare" type game.
Particularly because it's relatable nature. Heck, people are victim to home invasions quite frequently, somequick robberies and some planned weeks in advance that turn out a whole lot more greusome.

Just thought I'd pipe in my opinion publically, being that I've already discussed development with Royzo privately
the intruder is that cat and you get banned if he catches you
If you make this totally none-scripted, will be the best horror game I've played.
It could be like that Source mod where you can roam around a house. I think it was ''Underhell'' or something like that, you were a SWAT officer I believe. I'm getting the same vibe I got from that game, and that's a good thing.
So what happens if you try to stab/hit the Intruder
does the screen go ridiculously fuzzy/otherwise messed up so you can still not make out what he looks like
or are you just going to do that stupid thing where the player can manage to clearly make out what the monster looks like at some point that pretty much ruins the scariness
[editline]31st August 2012[/editline]
Also why does that stupid slender:source thing have way more votes than this >:(

Yeah that was Underhell
Should add some cool animated shader shit around the Intruder so it warps the space around him and you can't see his face clearly.
Why the hell do so many people think the Intruder is supposed to be Slenderman
He's not Slenderman,it's very obvious from the trailer
I want to mod in Weeping Angles.
Please let me mod in Weeping Angles

Well one of the planned features of the mod is "decent mod capabilities", so it's not impossible.
Here's a question:
Is the intruder human?
The second I read what it was about I was into it. You have my vote on greenlight.
Any chance of a beta for Gold Members or Facepunch in general?
sounds like clock tower

I hope a beta would be for facepunch members in general (people who joined recently with 0 posts don't count) where you would have to PM Royzo.

Or just a download link... the more the merrier.
What if one of the maps was an area of a suburban town, and you could go into all the other houses in a block or two radius from your starting house, and there would be npcs that would get killed when they encountered the intruder if he followed you into their houses
The intruder could be some sort of shapeshifter. I mean, there's nothing more eerie than building up some defenses and you suddenly see a cat staring at you through your window. then finding out that it's just a long furry neck with a cat head as you're on the second floor- it stares at you for a second, it just darts to one side and suddenly you hear a window break downstairs.
I'm imagining this, it's almost 4AM and I'm getting scared of my own idea. fuck.
So what happens if you kill the Intruder?
This looks like it could be really fun, voted for it but holy shit it looks like it's gonna take awhile before it gets through.
Any chance of a beta for Gold Members
pfft what kinda idiot would do something like that

The only reason I said that is because that if he just gives a download link, it isn't facepunch exclusive.
The PM for link idea would work but it is hard to keep up with sometimes when you get a lot of requests.
I think a cool option would be a puzzle involving the phone, like you have to repair it somehow and there are phone numbers around the house that could trigger certain events once called, or you could even just try and call the cops. Sort of like that one part in Cry of Fear where you call the magazine number on the ground to get the door code. It would scare me shitless hearing the murmured breathing of someone else on the other line or even for your character to try and call the police, only to be met with the sound of the line going dead before he can explain what is happening.
Fun fact: that was the actual Intruder NPC opening the door in the trailer.
NOPE
can i take back my greenlight vote, this game cannot be allowed to see the light of day
you're making it talior made to scare shitless, fuck you :suicide:
