This thread is going to give me nightmares.
I keep dreaming about this story I'm writing in my spare time. On one hand it's a bit terrifying at times, but on the other hand it gives me a new perspective for the writing. I can more closely relate to the characters and better describe what they're going through since I technically remember what it was like.
This post is really fucking late but I've always wondered why this happens too me. I get the same exact thing. Its fucking retarded.
I'm not exactly a dream expert - I can't even achieve lucidity with any sort of regularity - but I'd suggest summoning some sort of object, like a ring, and mentally attaching an effect that would allow you to pound things into pancakes.
Last week I had this dream. I was going through a house, occasionally checking rooms. Then I come up to a huge door, open it up and see a big dining hall and a party going on. In the middle of the room, there's an elephant. I come up to him and he says: "My name is No. This is my torment". After a while I see that no one else notices his presence. He takes a big shit and tells me that I am his biographer, and that this is my torment. Nextday the dream continues - I go through the house even faster, without checking the rooms, now I have a textbook, a pencil and a clock with me. i get into the dining hall, grab myself a chair and sit next to the elephant, writing his biography. And now every dream I have turns into this "torment" of writing a biography of a shitting elephant that no one else notices. I wonder if it has some meaning. I mean, I may be having a totally different dream, but every time I rush to that house through time and space to serve my gray lord. A couple of times he even stated that I was late for my "eternal punishment".
Hey goofs, I had a wierd dream. I went "lucid" in a dream, but turns out it was a dream within a dream so it was meaningless. Anyone else have this problem? Also, in the dream, I remember strolling to this little food shop that was in the middle of a parking lot - the guy manning it was this dumpy guy with a mustache, and his wares included half-drank beers and sodas, weird tubs of paste-food, and probably spoiled food. Felt bad for the guy and hustled away to an actual store. A trend I happen to notice in dreams is overpriced stuff. I remember seeing a soda vending machine sell a 16 ounce bottle of soda for about 700 dollars. In my most recent dream, I saw a similarly sized drink go for 5 bucks.
I don't dream anymore. And when I do dream, it is usually incomprehensible and I barely even know what is going on. But the thing is, I know I'm dreaming. And I just sit there and watch. Waiting to wake up.

I'm sure there's stabilizing methods to make your dreams more coherent.

Because he's the elephant in the room. This is my torment.

The writing the biography thing might mean that you always have to "hold his hand" in social situations, and remind him of the mistakes he's made in the past. And since that you are the only one that notices him, maybe in reality everyone is being modest and not paying attention to his quirkiness. Or I could be totally off and it could literally mean that there is a shitting elephant on your table right now. But stabilizing methods might help me on that.
Second time lucid and I can't figure out how to make people do things. I dream up a hypnotist to control the people (It was a dream where I was directing a legion of Mecha-Romans), I end up hypnotising myself and the dream isn't lucid anymore because I can't control my own body anymore. :suicide: I'll get the hang of lucid dreams eventually...

But I can remember dreams pretty well form time to time.
Tried this thing out last night: I made it to a sort of half-hypnagogic state, then I must have dosed off. Does anyone else have experience with using something like this to induce lucid dreams?
That sounds like a great idea. :0 Ring of pwnage here I come.
Aw, thanks. Wasn't expecting anyone to notice it much.
Writing dream journal has increased my dream recall ability, I am already more "awake" in my dreams than before Also I suggest making some sort of achievements like "successfully summon your subcon" :v:
oh hey looks like I wrote something in my dream keyword notes last night let's see [editline]6th July 2012[/editline] just one dream. "space" "waterTV" "telting" TELTING why do I keep finding strange as fuck words barping and telting
Goddamn dreams interfering with my sleeping patterns and memory. I almost got into a fight last night and subsequent dreams really highlight my fear of losing (I feel incredibly slow and weak in them).

testing?
testing?
i prefer telting preserve the magic
testing?
don't think so. it's just a straight line p much, looks a little different in the pic than live compare space's S to it, I was awake enough to able to write a proper S so if it was "testing" it would look the same, wrote all the keywords at the same time
I tried going for only 9 hours of sleep. Surprisingly it worked in a sense that I was able to recall dreams whereas before, everything was black.

I've been able to use this prog now that I got a new phone, here's one of my more active nights (about 1 week ago). Each triangle means that I woke up from a dream and drew a gesture on the touchsreen signaling a dream event. Blue is audio and yellow movement. My sensors weren't calibrated properly this night, so there was barely any movement at all registered. That's a lot of dreams! Here was last night. Only bothered to input one dream, probably was too tired or the rest of the dreams were too boring to bother adding them up. Sensor calibration was much better this time, still need some work tho. The square means I had a lucid dream and drew the corresponding gesture on the touchscreen after waking up from it. You can see movement and audio spikes but no triangles, means I didn't bother :v:
Had a rad lucid dream last night without even trying. I dreamt I was an ant, teamed up with a mouse professor and his son in a steampunk environment, we were trying to get to the top of a combine-like citadel for whatever reason via a boiler room through pipes and vents in the citadel. It started with us standing on a boiler in the boiler room creating a plan to get up to the top of the citadel, the professor's son describing it to us with me adding on comments. The citadel was pretty fancy, and getting through the pipes was pretty eerie since I was using a headlight sort of thing that wasn't very bright, and didn't have a wide illuminant radius. So we worked our way through the pipes a few times, only to be killed by guards and tripwire lasers or, starting in the middle of my dream, destroyed by "ant bombs". For some reason the first time we were killed by them some extremely cartoony intro video about them showed with a scientist finishing up production on one and saying "Please don't explode on me!" then he gave it a hug. I was then transported back to the boiler room with us again devising a plan to get to the top except this time the professor scratching diagrams on the floor with his claws. The last part of my dream, we were heading up the inside of a pipe and steam was in it and everything, we couldn't see well. The guards inside the citadel had finally caught onto our act and once we were in the room between vents/pipes destroyed it. The windows in the room were shattered, and oxygen was being sucked out(we were on a alien planet with no oxygen except for in buildings) of the room. A pipe carrying oxygen had fallen down in the chaos, and I said "Come on, let's siphon air out of this pipe! We all gathered around the pipe to breathe out of and hopefully have a chance, and then I heard Pudge from Dota 2 say "Breath your last...", except in a very dark and gritty tone, and I fell into the darkness of the pipe's abyss. The pipe had those dream colors that you never see in life, and I woke up as I was falling. Pretty good dream in my opinion.
I was so tired last night before I went to sleep that I was cernain that my dream recall would be great. And it was. But only boring shit happened.
Had a WILD last night. A pretty good quality one, lasted longer than usual.
Jesus, I was about to take a nap and somehow I managed to enter lucidity out of no where. I felt like yawning but I got this weird sensation so I kept tugging on it until I realized that I could see my hand move and how I could see clearly. Then there is was my first induced lucid dream.
This happens often for me: Im falling asleep, all of the sudden my buddy jerks (as if scared or suprised by something) and I feel like I landed on my bed, but nothing happend. What could this be?

What could this be?
Completely normal, happens to most of us. Sometimes accompanied by hypnagogic imagery and sounds, for example the last time I had it I had a hypnagogic image of a basketball flying towards my face and it made me jerk. Another time it was a loud hypnagogic bark of a dog that made me jerk. [editline]7th July 2012[/editline] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnic_jerk
