I don't know if it's related to lucid dreaming but it may be related to a subconscious state of mind, but whenever I lose focus on my computer chair and drift off; when I come back into focus, it feels like I fell off the fucking empire state building. Any explanations why?
I haven't had one in a couple of months, a lucid dream that is. It was one day during college I had fallen asleep on my futon. Now I had a pretty nasty headache going, as I had been sick, and I'd been sleeping a lot. I had a dream that I woke up and talked to my roommate, and I realized something was off, as it was night time and he was in bed, and I had only fallen asleep a few minutes ago, mid day. I start to gain consciousness to raise up, where I went fully lucid. I noticed that the ceiling to the dorm was gone, completely. It looked like a large nebula in space above us, and I mentioned it to my roommate in my dream that this wasn't real and I was dreaming, I distinctly remember him saying "Yeah, I guess you are, that's pretty odd. Do you wanna wake up?" I simply replied no and decided to fly up into the space. But when I hit it I landed back into my body during the daytime on the futon, almost as if it was a astral projection type deal, seeing my body in the third person, and then I woke up.
Easily one of the best lucids I've had, it's a blessing to have them at random without any crazy sleep schedule methods like that. I may try and have one tonight, The song Dayvan Cowboy by Boards of Canada is a good trigger for me to sleep to. It's soothing enough to fall asleep to, yet it has a tendency to play in my dreams, alerting me that I'm asleep.

Here's the song, for anyone interested. It just puts me in a mood to dream:

Well last night I woke randomly at 5am, 7am and later on and tried WILD each time. Every time I either fell asleep or broke the wild as I was impatient after not seeing any patterns or signs of SP in about half an hour. Any tips?
I just woke up again, my dream last night was odd. The taliban were coming to my house while my parents were out and use my computers to find where the worlds nukes are.
fucked my ex in a non-lucid yesterday
it was the wrong ex
eugheurghrgegh
I had a dream last night where I was at a waterpark, and I had been exploring some tunnels underground, there were tons of tunnels. While I was at the waterpark I snapped and gave up on humanity, seeing them all as just moving bodies. I made an underground fortress of solutide thing where I could exist outside of social life and time itself, where I could build things with my mind, play chess, and call myself the black king.
Then I dreamed about spitting up blood and dirt and rust in my bathroom sink.
Then I woke up. I went about my day, but I got a nosebleed. I ended up spitting out blood in the same sink I dreamed about.
Trippy.
I started reading as this interests me quite a bit. But I got lazy and scrolled to what you wrote about anti-sub, I skimmed through it and I got EXTREMELY freaked out and even closed the thread.
Now an hour later I came back and read it all, and suddenly I feel as some of the fears I already had have subsided. And I got goosebumps whilst reading, so this was really helpful for me on some level.
I hardly ever remember any dreams nowadays.
But I thought I might share some things for fun since this actually helped me.
As a kid I would quite often suddenly be in the middle of reading the best darn Donald Duck comic ever, but as soon as I realized that I awoke, and boy was I pissed missing out on the rest of the comic.
Very often I would have sequels to both "normal" dreams and nightmares, I suppose it was because things were still unresolved. With the non nightmares it was pretty neat, and I would even dream the opening credits.
Nightmare from childhood that still gets me chills for some reason:
I was walking around in a huge building with apartments, trying to find something. I eventually found the room I was looking for which for some weird reason was a cozy attic.
But then I was to leave, so I ran around panicking through corridors and stairs, every way out was blocked by mannequins. Then I awoke.
Lucid dream as a kid(5 yrs old I think):
I was on an island, and it was some sort of dinosaur game and I had a really cheesy metal HUD. I walked around for a while decided to fire missiles but then my T-Rex sense tingled and I decided to awake.
Pretty recent and only (semi)lucid dream that I induced myself (Was on some website I don't remember, reading about the stuff right before I went to bed.)
I woke up downstairs in my house, so I walked around for a bit and didn't really know what to do.
Now here's where it gets silly, I was starting to loose lucidity I believe and was suddenly terrified that there might be a bear outside. So I awoke myself.
I really regret not trying to turn it around, but I was really new to it all at the time.
Not as interesting as some other stuff, but hopefully I'll be back after trying these techniques for a while.

No dreams the last couple of nights. Of course I couldn't really sleep well at all either.
Apparently whether or not I jack off has an effect on the contents of my dreams. Am I weird or something?
Pornography has effects on dreams
Has any one here ever had a false awakining or a continuum?
OK, so I did some reality checks in a dream I had. I looked into the mirror and I had a massive penis. I looked at my fingers to see if I had them all, but they had been replaced with penises.
is this supposed to be telling me something

Hahahahah man-oh-man! Sigmund Freud is such a.. whatever. I'm pretty tierd now, I'm starting to act drunk. I'll check my hads in a mirror and see if theres penises.
Good night. Zzz...
To lucid dream with the MILD method do I say it out loud or in my head?

So it was a perfectly sunny day, I turn around and notice that there's a huge layer of clouds which made everything below them pretty much nighttime
I thought, "shit, if that isn't a dream sign then nothing is" and tried to stick my finger through my hand
Turns out it was just the british weather in real life :(

whichever takes your fancy
Had a dream Neil Patrick Harris descended from the sky on a giant swing. Probably from watching Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay right before bed.
Then of course obligatory failed sexytime dream

I also completely forgot that I had a dream about being on the run and it ended with a super cool lightsaber fight
I controled myself in a dream last ight but I disnt know it was a dream... Does that count?
Is Making reality checks a habit good for trying to have lucid dreams. Also are there any good apps that can assist me?
EDIT: Crap I rated myself dumb
EDIT2: I thought I did
Yes, once you get into the habit you'll start doing them in dreams, and because it's a reality check it'll fail. If you make sure to tell yourself that you're awake/asleep depending on the result, you'll be lucid with relatively little effort.
I've noticed that I react extremely emotionally to music when I'm falling asleep while listening to it, to the point of being extremely fucking depressed if something even slightly sad comes on my playlist.

Really? Hmm... I might try listening to the Phantom of the Opera tonight. See what happens.
On another forum I go to, there's a thread where people write down dreams they had. I love going through said thread and being able to remember most if not all of the dreams I've written down. Highlights include a dream where I hung out with Tenacious D, another where I hung out with Mike and the Bots of MST3K fame, a particularly gruesome one about a homophobic Tyrannosaurus Rex (long story short: at one point someone successfully distracted it from his friends by loudly declaring that he was reading gay porn. The Rex ate him messily, so therefore I declare it a homophobe.), one involving a crossover between Futurama and Courage The Cowardly Dog (get a talented writer and you'd have a good fanfic, actually), and one that ended with me singing Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York" with an Alien and a Predator. The most recent one I remember had me hanging out with Nathan Fillion of Firefly and Castle fame, which ended with me running away after seeing this huge-ass crab-spider-lobster thing and slapping myself awake when I felt something land on my arm.
I don't know why, but I'm usually more creeped out when I have a dream involving me hanging out with a favored celebrity. I mean, they can be fucking awesome, but they REEK of creepy fanboyism, y'know?
Anyways, to end this post I'll share a dream I apparently posted in said other forum on February 5th, 2011. A dream which I always thought was particularly badass:
So last night I had a dream that started out with Batman giving a message to Commissioner Gordon to meet him somewhere to deal with this rising threat of crime somewhere near Gotham. Meanwhile a bunch of nano-suited guys (think Crysis) are having a war with these criminals on some offshore tropical islands (a popular spot for Nano-suited soldiers, though what tropical islands are doing near Gotham we'll never know). I'm in the POV of one of these guys as he's jumping around and beating the shit out of some of these criminals.
Switch again to real me as my family are pulling into a house owned by some family friends to live with them on vacation. For some reason I have to sleep in an incomplete garage (there's just a tarp where one of the walls should be and the rest of the walls are an inch off the ground), despite my protests that I'll be wigging out over all the bugs that will crawl in. During the night I somehow don some infrared/x-ray goggles and catch the family friends having sex. But my peeping-tom-foolery gets cut short, because we're on one of the islands the nano-suits and the criminals are fighting on.
And a nuke goes off on it.
I somehow turn into my badass alter-ego (explanation: when I have nothing better to do I daydream about being an absolute badass (read: fanboy marty stu character)) and attempt to use the Force (see? marty stu all up in this shit) to shield the house from the blast. As I'm straining against such force GODZILLA (specifically the design used for Godzilla vs. Megalon) comes and he tries to help me by absorbing the radiation. But while he does help, it causes me to push too hard against the weakening force of the blast and I somehow end up rewinding time back to the beginning of the dream. This time, though, Batman somehow remembers the nuke happening and instead of giving The Commish the message to meet him, he just shows up face-to-face with him, says "Good Luck, Jim", and goes off to find the nuke before it goes off again.
End Dream.
I always loved that last part. "Good luck, Jim" *cue B:TAS Fanfare as Batman disappears into the night*
I was trying to WILD a few nights ago. I'm not sure if I had sleep paralysis or not though. It started with some tingly feelings all over, then heaviness in my arms and legs, then breathing seemed to get more difficult, but there weren't any hallucinations or anything. I did notice that my hearing got sharper though.
What I was wondering was maybe my eyes moving or me swallowing might have broken the SP? Would that happen? Also, how do you check if you are actually in SP? Obviously you could try to move your arm or leg, but if it moves then you ruined all your progress.
I believe that to swallow and / or move your eyes breaks or hinders your ability to WILD. Take a look at this video on how not to swallow, oh yea, and look forward at all times.

Alright, that should be helpful, but any ideas on how to stop my eyes? They seem to have a mind of their own.
God damn. I had a dream where I had to fend off the house from a robber who shot me in the arm. I didn't wake up till they tried to stick an ET tube in my throat. That shit was so disturbing but I couldn't wake up.
