Has anyone ever had a dream in a different language that they were fluent in? I recently ran into some people who shared their experiences with foreign language dreams, and they claim it is a big deal.
I've had a dream like this, everybody and I were speaking Japanese, they understood me and I understood them. I'm not fluent at all, though I know some of the language, most of what was said in the dream was probably incorrect random phonetics thrown together to mimic words.
I'm new to lucid dreaming and I've got no idea where to start with all this information. Could someone just write me a short little summary of what I should begin doing?
Thank you for the help. :v:
When you wake up in the morning, lay in bed for a bit and try to remember your dreams. Then, write them down. This is very important. By writing them down, you tell that you intend to remember your dreams and you'll start remembering them better as you continue to do this.
Once you can actually remember your dreams, you'll actually be able to remember your lucid dreams. (There's no point in having them if you don't remember, is there?) At this point you should start regularly doing reality checks, especially when you see things that confuse you, don't make sense, are inconsistent with your memory, or you don't remember. Eventually, these reality checks will become a habit. This means that you will continue to do them with little thought about it, even in your dreams. When you do them in your dreams, they'll fail.
What do you do when your reality checks fail? Well, first of all, DO ANOTHER FEW REALITY CHECKS
You really don't want to think you're in a lucid dream in real life and embarrass yourself.
Next up, rub your hands together and spin around. After this, do whatever you want.
Can you imagine someone thinking there are lucid in real life?

Quick question, what do you guys think of Binaural beats? I read a ton of stuff on it- seems half true. Scientists know we can change our brain waves with sounds sometimes, but getting consistent results with these systems is difficult. I bring this up because "theta" beats can be used to help induce dreams, especially lucid ones. Also, some person on reddit linked to a sound file that apparently can make you feel good... in a sexual fashion. Not sure if I want to try it though, afraid of bad results. :v:
link to thread. I was browsing r/askscience for answers to binaural questions.
Also, please note that I am not trying to say "omg guise we can control our mindz with music omg". Just an interesting thought is all

I have been trying to DEILD and this morning I got close. I woke up from a dream and I just lay there with my eyes closed. My heart rate was normal for a while, but I started to pick up and I felt some vibrations. But they eventually went away. I kept still and eventually my heart rate picked up again. But this time after that was over I felt some new vibrations that kind of felt like goosebumps, and the felt good. I tried to separate but I didn't really know how. Eventually stuff went back to normal and I got up and I was disappointed.
I had DILDs before but I really want to have a DEILD because it will be more clear.
placebo
I was thinking the same. The fact that even though the science shows we can shift our brainwaves means nothing if we cannot get consistent results.
I dreamt last night that I went back to my old school during our prom and hit on every girl there. No inhibitions, no hesitation I was laying on the compliments and getting a bunch of dances. It was even weirder because I remembered specifically saying, 'Why am I back here when I graduated two years ago?' but oh well.
By the end of it the dream had turned into me becoming a mix of Ezio and Solid Snake, hiding from all the guys who I stole their date from. It was pretty sweet.
I had a dream where I was driving a car on a two-lane road that was floating above a futuristic city. It became lucid when I pulled down the visor mirror and saw that I was myself but 13-14 years old. I kept driving but I wanted to know if I could feel pain in a dream. So I drove the car off the edge of the road and dive-bombed into an old lady. Instead of walking out of the car like a badass, I ended up in some blackness with floating white pillars. I climbed them and ended up on a reality show with all my friends in some mansion that was slowly being flooded with comatose asian people.
I had an amazing lucid dream this afternoon. Me and my friend were in a Chuck E. Cheese's or some similar place when we decide to check out this game that involves racing cars against each other in a pair of car simulators. We choose our cars (and my friend chose a handicap of -15 which made me start questioning things) and we're given a destination instead of a track selection menu. This is when I realized that these aren't car simulators, these are cars with HUDs.
We end up driving through the arcade, exit out into the top of a parking garage, do some mad drifting down it to street level, then race to the marker, which is apparently where I am supposed to collect my winnings for beating my friend in the race. Instead of doing that, I ask them if I could have a rematch with no handicaps because we don't know what they affect. They set us up for another race, this time on an actual track, with many twists and turns as well as a couple different layers. It was also suspended a couple hundred feet in the air.
We start racing down the track when it starts getting bombarded with cannons from a spaceship floating above it, forcing us to dodge the craters. Eventually, pods start being launched from the ship carrying explosive rollermines that scattered both in front and behind us trying to ram us, and if things couldn't get more dangerous, the spaceship itself started dropping out of the sky to crush us.
About a second before impact, I drive down a ramp leading to a lower level of the track. I couldn't see my friend, but I could tell he made it because his dot was still moving forward on my HUD. The lower level of the track was shorter than the main track, but was more narrow and still had rollermines on it, making one wrong move a fatal one. Instead of trying to swerve around them, I decided to ram them off of the edge so they wouldn't damage my car when they explode. I go back up to the main level, which is near the end of the track and leading back to the building from before. My friend, miraculously, was right on my tail, but it was too late for it to change anything. We both end up powersliding into the lobby, where I get my prize: The car I was driving, as well as 9,919 dollars. I was really excited because I could use that money to pay for a new computer....and then I remembered that I was dreaming. Greatly disappointed, I headed to the bar with my friend instead.

Tried them like two years ago. I think I posted about it way back when. The only advantage it serves is being white noise, the beat itself doesn't matter. Pure placebo.
I had a nightmare where I traded bodies with Charlie Sheen.
I've got this weird reoccurring dream. I'd really like to stop having it.
What happens is that I wake up wherever I fell asleep at in my house, and it's dark as hell. The only light comes from street lights and the TV in the living room. Looking outside, the sky is completely black, no moon or anything. Not even the soft glow of Dayton (which is a few miles away). I check my phone, and the signal is barely even there. I call people on my contacts and they say normal things. But at the end of the call they alyways say "Nate, please, don't go in the dark. I think they're back. I gotta go.".
Eventually I make my way to the car, and try to find my friends and family. I never can find anyone except for my friend of 14 years, who upon being found, tried to kill me with different things. Once I get away this creepy ass piano music begins to play as the car breaks down. Left with no choice, I 'go in the dark' and at this point everyone close to me that's died comes out of this old looking door, and drag me into it. at this point I wake up.

It really makes me sad to have this dream. It makes me miss everyone.
Just a question. One time i was on the brink of entering lucidity, when i saw a creature. I can't explain what it was but it was scary as shit. I knew it wasn't real and i ran at it. When i get close it attacks me, when it does this, a really loud bang would go off in my ears and i could feel the pain in my ears. Then the next thing happens, i'm running back at it and it hits me again and another bang goes off, this repeated a few times before i gave up, because the thundering boom going off in my ears was painful. When i woke up, my ears were fine. Hasn't happened since. What was that?

Fits your description. Somewhere between sleep and awake (aka lucidity), tremendously loud bang(s) and so on. Happened to me too a few times.
This seems a good place to take this weight out of me.
A while ago I had an unknowingly lucid dream of me being some kinda Battle Royale setting, and the only weapon I had was a sort of blade that I had to stick in my finger's bones in order to be able to use it effectively. The pain was horribly realistic, and when I woke up I still saw a scar where the blade was, even as I moved my hand around, for a good minute. It disappeared by the time I got to the bathroom to wash it off. Shit was freaky as fuck, especially because when I later got back to sleep the nightmare kept going where I left it even though it never happened to me. It was way more lucid than any other lucid dream I ever had; seemed like an alternate reality more than anything really. I can still distinctly recall everything that happened there. Double freaky points because I heard neither about Battle Royale nor Hunger Games up until then.
I had a dream I was some Medieval prince in god knows where. Anywho, I found myself being married to some princess who I've never even met before. She is pretty good-looking, so not many complaints from me. Turns out, she is a cold, self-righteous bitch who doesn't even acknowledge my existence. Not too bad though, because I get to defend our castle from pig-men. Eventually, she warms up to me enough, saying the reason she has been so cold is because of the new lands and people.
Understandable.
Me being the suave bastard I am in this dream, I suggest we should probably explore our relationship further. Now, I have the smuggest look on my face, and she says there is good wisdom in that. Tells me to meet her in my bed chamber.
Literally, as soon as I open the door to the bedroom, I wake up.
God damn it.

So, part of my dream was me trying to escape from the police for some reason, and I got that annoying running-in-slow-motion effect. I woke up madly swinging my legs around in a running motion.

You might be confusing it with auditory hallucinations. EHS is impossibly loud noises. Like sticking your head inside a jet engine while on fire.
On second thought you might be right, rereading his post. Nevermind.

happens because running is a super complex motion and your brain needs input to make tiny adjustments. it doesn't have input because you're not actually running, so it happens in slow motion so your brain can piece it together as you go. same reason why it's really hard to throw a punch.

I had a dream last night about going room-to-room in a castle with a group of soldiers. I couldn't really see them well enough to tell what they looked like, but I did see that we were all armed with something between a pointed stick and a rifle. It kinda looked like Castle Brennenburg, and as we walked, this music was playing. Everything was actually pretty similar to that scene in Aliens; one of the people following me even said "Whatever happened here, looks like we missed it." I couldn't shake that feeling of being watched by something just outside my field of vision the entire time and I really didn't like it.
I experienced sleep paralysis/night horrors last night.
It was... Unpleasant.
I just woke up from a lucid dream, and that one was really cool! It started on the top of a mountain, where a lot of super-heroes reunited. They were talking about how they created a piece of peace and hope on this earth, an island were peace and quiet reigned... Hope that the rest of the world would become, one day, like this island. Batman was ready to go, and The Huntress, Batgirl, Robin, and every other Batman heroes joined, as did I and 2 unknown heroes, lifting their cape at the same time, and then they disperce...
Then it's the day after that (it passed to this moment instantly),I'm in a building because I answered a call for help. They say that they want me to be a hoe for their partners which couldn't come today. Well, they said entertain them, but in seconds, he made it clear that he wanted me to be a hoe... Offended I exit the building. I then look at the various non-answered calls (there was one involving facepunch) but before I make up my mind, I see a car in the corner of my eyes.
And then the action starts.
I start running has fast as I can, thinking they are the with the guy from earlier, and I'm correct, they get out from the car, they are 4. 3 guys and a girl, I spot their leader, the guy with a gun and sporting a stache... And here's the interesting part, my powers are activated by my me touching one of my fingers from my left or right hand! I have 7 powers I believe, as I instinctively didn't choose to even try pressing the 3 other fingers from my right hand. Oh, did I say I had no idea what they did? Because I had no idea what they did... Except for the first one, it was the power that made me deflect stuff. So I tryied them all, but only the second one did something else, it launched a ball in front of me and behing me. It touched the leader which was knocked back a little.
I turn and I see the leader pointing to a multiple level parking lot. I stop and think, and I see it's connected to where I was going, I instantly go back to the street I was in, but one of them see me and follows me. I enter the parking lot, wait that he enters while charging a punch. He enters, I punch him in the face, he falls to the ground and he doesn't move a single muscle. The girl enters, sees the guy and says "You know what, I'm just gonna go now" and goes back to the car. One of the guy arrives, but their leader isn't here. He starts to talk to me, I don't listen to him, I know what he's doing, he's buying time for his boss to flank me. I see another place to enter, and bingo, here's the boss coming in with his gun in hand pointing me. Well, it's now or never to see if it is my deflect power. I look at him. He's going to pull the trigger. I press the little finger of my left hand. Seconds later he pulls the trigger... and then...
The bullet disapears whn it should have it me. I find it way more effective than what I tought! The mustache man runs back to his other friends, with the one I punched waking up. They start talking to themselves, one of them says he's going. I head for the leader, I'm going to grab him, and the lights go out. It was day, but it was way too dark, even with the daylight. It seems darkness has a bigger effect than normal for me. I rush into the next room, a meeting room. I look around, trying to find my ennemies. I pick a chair as a weapon, and continue searching. I have a flashback, I fought before in this room. I start to speak, and I say "I fought here before, and one of them was hiding in THE CHAIRS!" I attack with my chair on the stack of chairs, and you guessed it, I see an head and I hit it. I then see way clearer, distinguishing the leader and a really buff guy that wasn't there before. He stand up, then grabs me. I panick and use my second power launching a ball on him, but it does nothing. He throws me on the ground and falls on me. It hurts as hell, I needed to find a way out of it. I activate each of my powers trying to get away from him as he gets up to fall on me again. He jumps, I try to block him. And then...
I wake up. My dream was finished, and it was the best dream I ever had. Oh and one thing about that dream, there was no blood, like I think in every single one of my dreams. Well, at least the dreams I remember...
Wow, that's a big wall of text...

i guess you could put it that way. sort of.
Had a very interesting dream where I was some sort of security officer on board a space station or ship. There had been some sort of mutiny so I was in charge of the loyalists and was trying to take them to safety. We went through a few hallways with our guns drawn leading a big group of people, and had some tense moments because the ship must have been on lockdown with emergency lights on only.
Then it kind of skipped ahead a bit and we were walking up a staircase to another part of the ship, and I noticed a supply area and I went over to check on it. Some food was missing and the animals in the cages there had been fed, although I asked one passerby when we had last checked them and she said a few days. I suddenly knew that the rebels had been there recently and took out my gun. With another security officer we ran to the head of the group again and started funneling them to safety in a long winding staircase.
While we prepared to go up, someone yelled out that the 'lights had flickered' and it looked like someone was outside pointing to a window.
Strangely the ship's staircase transformed into my old Gymnasium's staircase and we were back on earth. As soon as he said that my mind had a lot of thoughts regarding aliens and I said 'they are taking someone again'. So as the plot did a twist me and a female security officer ran down the staircase of my school and went outside to save one man that was under attack from these dark cloaked, mask wearing aliens. We used our guns and did some kicking and punching, but before I could continue I went to the next dream.
The next one was me in my hometown, but I was in my car and I knew that I had to be going somewhere. I have driving dreams often where I will suddenly become very reckless at driving like driving fast, intentionally not looking out the windshield, or messing with the steering wheel. Now I was speeding down a long road and ended up having to break, forcing my car to roll over. As I was rolling over I felt no pain and really only felt frustration as I opened up some sort of menu that I could see in front of me and loaded a save of before I crashed.
It is not only this dream, I have had driving dreams where I have crashed and then just reloaded a save. A particularly frightening one was driving on a large highway that stretched high above a city, looping asphalt around skyscrapers and clouds. I somehow broke through a guard rail and drove right off, falling to what would be my inevitable death. That time I was afraid, but apparently I knew just what to do to save myself, load up an old save of me being in a train station that I ignored so I could drive.
Needless to say, I took the train.
Had the weirdest dream about 10 minutes ago. It felt lucid and sometimes not, but I think that was just my mind fucking with me or something.
It kind of started out in the middle of me being an exorcist and I was trying to remove a demon from someones body when I realized that demons don't exist and I gained control of the dream. But while I gained control of the dream I felt I still had to remove the demon from their body. So I put my hand on their head and they started back to their original colors and being human again.
This is where I assume I got too excited or something went wrong. The person that I exorcised starts smiling and turning gray again. I start being afraid and lose control of the dream. This really confuses me since I felt I still knew how to gain control of the dream back while I wasn't actually controlling it.
Either way I lost control and the demon started chasing me around for a while, but somehow I gained control again and the first thing I did was yell "wake up" at the top of my lungs. Eventually I woke up but I had troubles opening my eyelids or moving my body. I was able to get up after a while of struggling and run over to my computer and post this here.
Was hoping someone could help me explain what the fuck I just witnessed. I'm not even religious so I don't know why these roles were in place.
