True story here-
Yesterday I asked about Orkel about some dude spamming ratings. Orkel also runs this thread. My subconscious took those two ideas and created a dream just before I woke up. When the dream was over I woke up panting and I was 100% convinced I had just been banned because I spammed ratings. Well played, subconscious. Well played. :v:
I had a dream where Gabe Newell added me as a friend on Steam, and I met him IRL. He was in love with this woman who worked at a train station. I was afraid to ask him about HL3, because I thought it'd be rude. Instead, I told him a "Valve can't count to 3" joke, and he showed a shocked face. We never spoke again.
I just had a dream that I got banned
I had a very traumatizing dream last week that I think actually changed me in a way. It starts out stupid but gets better.
So it starts out, I am a young Bruce Wayne. Somehow I know this. I am at a place in the middle of a massive pine forest, it is a red painted monorail suspended about 10 feet above the ground. 2 more lines of the monorail hang above the first, each going further right about 6 or so feet. They are about 10 feet apart vertically. I am leaping from one rail to another, when suddenly it becomes dark. The monorail below now has a little platform in which a motorbike is now placed, it's lights illuminating two children, both blonde. One is a girl around 14-15 years old and the other is a boy (presumably her brother) about 10-12 years old. We have a short chat about something meaningless as I continue to effortlessly leap from rail to rail.
I leap to the top rail but slip and grab on just in time. I stare down the track. The second rail in-between the top and bottom rails is now gone and the lowest rail is stretched to the width of a 2-lane road. On it sits numerous cars, placed on the rail. I look over to see a train heading right for them as a sense of terror grips me. The train is going about 10 miles an hour and stops right in front of the large row of cars.
Suddenly, it lurches forward and tumbles over the cars, crushing them and their occupants. The sounds of metal on metal, bones cracking, and the terrified screams of men, women, and children engulf the air in a deafening uproar as I hang on for dear life. The train continues, now igniting the gas tanks of the cars raking the monorail with massive explosions.
This was absolutely terrifying, and I have never before been so disturbed by a dream, or really nightmare.

An Indian Jurassic park?
I had a dream that my browser accidentally x-posted a post in several threads at the same time and it apparently was against the rules to do so, so Orkel banned me for two months :pwn:
Don't worry Orkel, you're a bro.
Had a dream that I was chosen to fight against the alien invaders that was attacking our planet, I was sent to a massive space station. It was attacked by the aliens who boarded the ship and started killing everyone, I lost 3 of my good friends. Eventually after the battle was over I was deemed unfit to continue fighting, so Kirk Hammett flew me home. When I went back to school I broke down.
Deep dream.
Recently had a dream that involved Humanity being on the edge of failure, raiders and bandits attacked those who were unarmed.
I was in a sort the human embodiment of justice. Where I went things return to normal, the wicked were tried for their sins. It was pretty crazy.
Then I went to another form and I ended up marrying the girl I've always liked. Jesus, stuff sure is weird.
I had a creepy dream of myself this morning/night. I'm usually short haired and don't have facial hair since I shave everyday.
But in this fucking dream, I was looking into a mirror and this fucking Jesus hobo looking guy was looking at me. Hair to shoulders, facial hair everywhere. It took me a while to realize it was myself. I got so scared taht I woke up.
Shit, don't tell me this is some subconscious image of how I see myself in the future or something.
Had a dream where I was figuring out that I was actually stuck in the matrix, and managed to contact Morpheus and the whole gang.
They started having me drive them to what I assumed were missions, but then after a while I realized that they were all just fucking with me to get me to drive them around town like some personal taxi.
If I were smart I would've realized the dream sign of "Not fitting in your car" but then again another person uses the same car I do a lot and I have to adjust the seat every time I get in anyways so I just did that in the dream.
Today I dreamed I was spectating a girl that was back in what I think was my old room back when I lived in an apartment. It looked like my room, but it had a kingsize bed. The environment was very bright and colorful, like on a summer day, despite that my room was almost always in the shade due to the group of trees outside my window. Well either way there was a bigass spider on the bed, and the girl started panicking. She went and told my sister because mom was too busy, but my sister was also too creeped out by the spider to do anything. She then made a homemade flamethrower with an Axe deodorant and a lighter, and torched that fucker to death. I remember feeling very calm after that.
In retrospect, she wasn't using one of my spray deodorants, she was using a roll-on.
I had a night terror last night :(
I had a dream a few days ago -about a week maybe- where I saw myself walking into this huge hole that just went down infinitely, I tried screaming and telling myself to stop but I couldn't move at all and the second I heard my own voice I woke up, now I can't remember what I dream about anymore.
Oh dudes. I just had the biggest, most vivid dream I've ever had in a big while.
Now, I want to say first that I have a very, very irregular sleep cycle in the Summer. Sometimes I sleep at 5, other times at 4, 3, 6, etc. However, most of those were mostly due to covered-up... not-going-to-sleep-until-early-morning sessions that my parents didn't know about, but then they caught me still awake and on regular clothing at 6 AM one time, so I had to stop doing that for the remainder of Summer or else I'd get in deep shit. But I still can just go to bed and pretend I'm sleeping while I pull up my PSP and play some Peace Walker or a NES emulator to kill some time before going to sleep. This is usually not so healthy because it's a pain to fall asleep next. At least for me it's just usually better to get off the PC, have a small snack, brush my teeth and go to sleep.
Yesterday, I did that. I felt like "man, school's starting soon, I better get used to actually sleeping", and of course, it took a while to fall asleep. I'm like that, whatever I do, going to sleep is always a bitch. I did a trick I've read somewhere where you just deliberatly try NOT to sleep. Like telling yourself "oh man, I gotta be on guard, someone's here" and shit, while laying on the bed with your eyes shut (irony). Guaranteed sleep.
Now, here's the fun part. I don't remember the most early parts of the dreams (they were multiple ones, but all had the same core and ideas, kind of like seperate chapters), because back then, they were pretty tame, I had no clue of what was happening. It was just an oblivious, innocent dream. I was in my house dicking around, I don't really remember much of it, but I was most certainly going to the kitchen to get water or something. But then I remembered to do a reality check. And holy shit, I was dreaming! FINALLY, I was lucid for real this time! And my mind hadn't booted me off to the real world! But here's the catch. I couldn't do anything. I swear, I was pratically immobile, and thought "god fucking shit if you're going to wake me up!!". The house got into a very dark-blueish tone, and I could move again. I've had a ton of other dreams like this, where I was at my home and some weird shit happened, so I was pretty much used to it. But, as I said, I couldn't do much. I could only move and... that was it. Knowing that I was dreaming. I WAS completely lucid, but my abilities were hacked, slashed, cut down to a non-existant point by some unknown reason and/or being. I don't know how to explain it further, I just felt normal but crippled.
That dream took a longass time. I remember just wandering around, usually talking to people, in divisions of my house that didn't even exist. All in dark faction, kinda like what you'd see in a bad horror film. But it was... scary. If not, at least discouraging or depressing. But I kept going. I don't really know what happened next, I think I got lost or something. It was something really unnerving/disturbing. The most important part is that I woke up. Inside the dream. But this was just the tip of the iceberg. My mind was not finished playing tricks on me.
I was relieved, since I hate dreams of walking pointlessly in the dark, mostly following voices or just meeting random people that I do or do not know, and I thought I was in the real world again. So I just went along with it, got on my computer, checked out Skype, and somewhy went to those TF2 trading sites. I was banned! I was banned from both the... items from TF2, trading, the trading sites, everything, all by the same guy, on the same date. Now, this was really weird. Because I don't even play TF2 at all that often nowadays - I used to play it ALOT, if you go check my profile right now, I have 861 hours registered in it total and back then I used to have like what, 30 to 50 hours per 2 weeks of playing TF2? Now I just have 2 or so, I don't even care much about TF2 trading anymore. But I remember being really upset about it, and I had sent a message to the guy asking what the hell was going on, and had the idea of going to Steam Support and complain, knowing it'd fix it or something.
I decided to make another reality check and yep, I was dreaming alright. But then it happened again. I was completely powerless, and I couldn't type anymore. I was sent to what you could say another dream, but it was the same one, but I thought it was another, and I knew I was still banned, but I didn't know I was dreaming. I went to talk to a friend of mine on Steam and talked to him about it and the weird dream I have had, where I pretty much woke up twice (considering I thought I was in another new dream). We both shared a laugh and yep, it happened again. I woke up someplace else. Now this was just a BUNCH of random situations. One of them was talking to my mother when I was younger (she was very strict, but I have more freedom now), another was closing my room's window which lead to a place similar to those sewers in Mirror's Edge (first part of [sp]Jacknife mission I think[/sp]and was retardadly similar to that part in Dragon Ball where [sp]Goku is trying to find the magic water and finds illusions of his friends and Kame House.[/sp]). I think I tried to get there but I couldn't. My mother scolded me for it.
I had then realized what was happening. My mind didn't want me to get any sort of control over my dreams, never wanted me to step up until a certain boundary. It was controlling them against me. And then I tried to wake up, to get the hell off the fucked up universe that was my head. But, the farthest I could ever go was just wake up inside the dream. This went on for around 7 or 10 cycles. I started to get really desperate, and on the last cycle I was in some sort of post-apocalyptic metal metropolis on a grey/dark-red sky, kinda like the [sp]Citadel's portal storm thingy with the circling blue twirling energy thing of doom, but this time it was dark-orange[/sp] all destroyed. One of the things I remember most is that there was a bigass pipe coming from one of the destroyed walls with a Shark sticking out eating Conker from Bad Fur Day. I don't know, either. I never played Conker.
I was really really scared - I thought I was going to be stuck in my dreams forever. I even came up with theories on how I was so stuck in there - usually I can wake up on command, but that wasn't the case. Everything from comas to just oversleeping, paranoia at it's highest point. I seriously entered panic and started to cry frantically, begging for an exit. And then the alarm sounded. It was 8:10 AM. I usually just sleep for a bit more, but I just said fuck it and got up. I even made reality checks and everything to be 100% sure I was awake.
As I said before, the type of lucid dreams where you go lucid and then immediatly wake up after happens very often to me, and I've heard of similar dreams like this, but this is the first time I've experienced one. Alot of other weird shit happened in these dreams but I can't remember them all. These were the most relevant and the ones I remember the most. I think I tried to go lucid too early. I only slept 6 hours anyway.
I dont know why, but I never seem to be me in dreams. I've varied between being a young boy, young girl (whom was not myself), teen of either gender. And I am never my actual age, almost always 16 or younger. Well, in one dream I was something more like 17 as I was at the time, but that was a rare case.
Also until recently my dreams never included people I knew, or shows I watched or comics I read (all my friends say their dreams are riddled with fandom stuff and mostly focused on that)
Seems odd, anyone else like that? Or are your dreams usually more central to different versions of yourself?
Pasted from "The Intruder" -thread.
Had a dream about a mysterious intruder last night.
In the dream I came home from somewhere quite late (just like I did yesterday when I was late at the gym). So it's really dark outside and our front door is partially open.
So I'm just thinking for myself "my dad probably just left the door open" (although he's in Estonia right now).
I enter my home and yell out a hello to inform my parents on my arrival since they would not hear me open the door.
Nobody is at home.
All the lights are on with the exception of the bedrooms. When suddenly I hear some faint sound in my parents bedroom.
The door is only slightly open and as I try to push it open I feel that someone is pushing against it. I panic and try to close the door fast but whatever is on the other side of the door is now pulling it.
So I decide to let this bastard have it and plan or ramming the door so that the intruder whom is now pulling it will get squished between the door and the wall.
Once I ram it the door just hits the wall with a bang like nothing is there and neither do I see anything unusual in the room.

I've only ever been 'myself' once, when I intentionally induced a lucid dream to summon my subconscious. I've seen myself plenty of times, usually as a background character in a village or on a crowded spaceship (and I'm not counting what looks like a female version of myself, she's everywhere). Every other time I just sit back and role with whatever's going on, and it never involves 'me.'
I'm a shit sleeper. It's very rare for me to sleep before midnight and when I do I wake up way too early. Right now it's pretty terrible because I'm recovering from ACL reconstruction. I don't do a lot of things during the day to be tired by the time midnight rolls around and it's hard for me to try to even think about sleeping before 3am. I'm just not tired at all. I sleep really late because of the time I fall asleep and I feel super awful for the first hour. My dad told me I look like I'm in physical pain when I wake up (I'm not).
I'm looking for some help to try to sleep better and fall asleep quicker. I've tried melatonin, I've tried listening to drone and white noise and I don't really know what else I should be doing.
Man, I've been having the craziest dreams since school started (probably to deal with stress) but I've remembered barely any of them.
I miss when I used a dream journal and remembered like 4 dreams a night
I had a dream where I was in a room with no walls, no roof and no floors, just melons. And all I did was eat melons. And I was really fucking happy. I just loved those melons. So I ate melons for four days straight. But then my alarm woke me up, and I was angry because I was so happy eating melons in that dream. I turned the alarm off, and tried to get back to the dream, but it didn't work. I also came 3 hours late for school.

Well the easiest way is exercise, but obviously that isn't an option. I find reading puts me to sleep fairly well, I lie down an hour before I want to be asleep and read.
Classical music is proven to be calming, playing any sort of instrumental music helps me to sleep pretty well, but I tend to wake up in the middle of the night multiple times like that, even though the music is off by then. No clue why.

If you're listening to music, put on a long and varied playlist. You might even go lucid if you listen closely to it, then try to take your headphones off (assuming you use headphones).
Sup guys, haven't posted here in a while. Over the summer my sleep schedule went to shit and I stopped having lucids. Now that I'm back in school things are getting back to normal. Plus I got my wisdom teeth removed on friday and they gave me codiene pills, fuck yeah. The last 2 nights I had awesome deep dreams.
Two nights ago I was a monkey and I started the whole "Planet of the apes" thing by stealing my trainer's suburban.
Last night I was in my dream version of Las Vegas and one of my friends actually was an elf, like santa's elves kinda thing. So, santa and a bunch of elves flew in on the sleigh and cool flying snowmobiles and kidnapped him, educating him to the whole elf thing. Then I joined them as an honorary elf by following them around in my explorer and helping out. Santa is actually a title passed down generation to generation, and all the christmas magic is actually racial feats of the elves and fallout 50's-style technology. Like, only elves can hear the jingle bells or see the red lights in the sky. Also, they all had guns and were being hunted by something, that's why christmas has been lame the past few years.
[editline]10th September 2012[/editline]
All the elves reminded me of tall pointy-eared bikers. Beards, christmas tatoos, smoking and all.
The last dream I remember had me walking by the countryside at night, trying to look for an abandoned house to sleep in. So I come to one house which has is next to a very steep slope and at the end of the slope is a driveway. The house consist of a two story house, a garage and a sauna house or something which has a roofing next to it where firewood is kept. I make my way towards the roofing while looking trough the windows of the house if they would be any possible refuge. There is a lantern by the roofing which gives some light.
As I turn around I see a deer approaching me, it is 3 meters away from me. But it doesn't linger for too long as it gets scared off by a stray dog. It's one of those lean track dog types.
We just stare at each other for a good moment until a sound of small thud scares the dog away.
And it runs into the woods with intense speed. Faster than any animal I've ever witnessed.
I feel like I should get something to protect myself with in case of an encounter with something less friendly. So I search for a suitable peace of wood from under the roofing and manage to find a narrow plank which is a bit too long for optimal swinging so I decide to break it in half, thus getting a sharper edge.
I decide to head towards the steep slope. Once by the slope I'm wondering if I should just go around or try to carefully slide down the dirt. Rolling down could end up being painful due to the rather sharp ending at the slope.
But before I can start heading down, I see a grizzly bear walking on the driveway, clear as ever being lit by the streetlights.
I grasp my stick but still feel quite safe as the slope is really steep and about 300m high.
Against all odds the bear decides to start climbing up the slope which amazes me as it consists only of loose and dry dirt. Not only amazing I'm freaking out due to the thought of getting mauled.
When the bear reaches the top I'm ready to face my doom but suddenly the bear turns around to fight a polar bear.
???
I don't know.
What I can say is that I love dreams where I get to travel, be it by foot or by car.
All the strange encounters and weird geometry is just so compelling.
I sure can read text in my dreams, how is this possible?
A lot of my dreams have been placed at my primary school. The school is just across the road for me, so i watch it everyday.
I've read somewhere that dreaming of the primary school is a symbol that i'm scared of the future or something. Could someone confirm this, or give me some other explanation?
Since the school is a recurring event in my dreams, is there a way to program my mind into thinking that i should reality check each time i see the school?
Had a dream that Donald Duck was pissed with his old car, so I bought him a Lamborghini and he drove a hill up and down for the rest of the dream
I was starting to fall asleep in class while we were filling out a sheet of paper, and I would be filling it out, then my eyes would get heavy and I'd fall asleep. I then had a dream that I was exactly where I was in class filling out the same sheet of paper nearly the same way. I don't know if it was really a dream though because I could hear the teacher in my "dream" just fine, and it didn't last very long. Then, a few seconds later I'd wake up and realize that, no, I hadn't actually been filling out the piece of paper.
This happened two or three times and it's the most irritating thing ever to have to fill out the same piece of paper twice.
How often do you guys remember your dreams?
I can never seem to remember mine.
