In the fog of my youth I found out that wasting a lot of time building things that don't exist in a game that isn't real can be kind of fun, and I wanted to show those things to people I didn't know and would never meet.
Way back in my younger years I was being a tosser on another forum and got told "Go back to facepunch" so I checked itnout.
Went for GMOD, Stayed for General Games Discussion and the community.
I joined in early 2008 because I wanted to be in the Personal Skins thread. Later I deleted and remade my account because I wanted to change my name.
lurked a lot, decided to join because of gmod i think but i absolutely hated the gmod section, so i started posting almost exclusively on the TF2 one
Because there is no signatures or memes
I found FP through Garry's Mod, I just thought the place was some kind of GMod forum. Then I found the programming section, and got addicted.
Someone said that there was a mod for GMOD available for download, but it was an attachment to a post (yeah this was back when that was still a thing). So I made an account to download it. The mod never worked.

I joined Facepunch back when I was 13 in 2006 while you all were like toddlers. I joined because of Garry's Mod of course.
My friends go on here a lot so a year or two ago I checked it out and have been semi active at times since.
Back in the early 2000s, there existed a mod for Tribes 2 called "The Construction Mod". Was highly popular thanks to the Torque Engine's accessibility and "infinite map looping". Although most creations were simply made of stretchable blocks and forcefield systems, it was the first true sandbox game I remember playing. Played it for 3 years, and quit for a little while to focus on other things. Came back in December of 2004 to check the servers, only to find that the population had severely dwindled. Checked the forums to find that most of the Tribes 2 members had abandoned it for some game called HL2 and its mod "Garry's Mod", peaking my interest because said modification had actual physics, a huge deal back in the day. Immediately bought HL2, downloaded Garry's Mod, joined this forum, and I've regretted watching all of you grow from bumbling mingebags ever since.
In a few years all the answers will be, "Rust".
I know most people probably joined because of garry's bod or steam or whatever but not me I joined because of this photo still haven't played garys game or anything lol but i think it's pretty cool we are making Rust now. hey garry! how much compensation do we get? by the way, how did you come up with the name Facepunch?
I would love to know whats the link of this thread :DDD
Gmod 9.
Valve Games and Mods lurking. I lost the username and pass to my original account after I left it alone for a loooong time :(
It was to ask the most ridiculous n00b question ever about gmod
To post about Sgt.Sgt's Evocity map with the most broken understanding of the Source Engine ever.
