I know what you're saying, but these are meant to be listened to while playing Minecraft. They are only "Minecrafty" because they are similar to the current music in the game. There are no drastic climaxes or breakdowns, but for good reason. These are meant to be sort of ambient and neutral, so they don't distract too much from gameplay.
I'm not saying I'd be able to make nice climaxes if I tried, but even if I could, I would avoid that for this purpose.
Thanks for the great comments, though. I wish you would've posted on one of the actual music threads so they could get a nice little bump. :P
heh, sorry man.
I completely understand now, and in that case, these songs are perfect!
I was unaware that minecraft had BGM O_O
Hey I'm keen to give this a go. I'll probably start painting within a few weeks. Dunno if you can wait that long but I'm a busy guy.
PS: Ohh my god I love this album. Minecraft music is brilliant and you've captured the minecraftyness (haha) perfectly!
Does it have to be traditional painting or is Photoshop a go too?

You can do whatever you want, but nice paintings in Adobe Illustrator and Corel Painter are more likely to win my affection!

Oh, the music is one of the most mystifying aspects of the game. You should really try it!
I know it may be a bit of a cop-out on my behalf, but back at secondary school I did this GCSE Art piece and in my opinion the art style and colours fits your music, by the way which is really good.
What do you think? (just a quick photo of it) :ohdear:

The feeling your music gives off is very Minecrafty. It feels ponderous, wondrous, ambient, surreal. Something like the little image I made?
I haven't done this in a while, but I forgot how much fun this was :v:
EDIT: Could look better without the random shapes, Y/N?

Lunik, I like the top one better as it reduces the random openness feel, However the sudden white make's it stand out too much, try changing the white to a much darker grey and have the Alpha fade to 0%.
So with the bottom one, 100% Alpha at the top and 0% at the bottom, and for the cubes, 100% Alpha in the middle and 0% on the outsides.
Change the font of the bottom txt and Skew it forwards so it would appear that the txt is standing on a glass surface, add reflection to the surface and done?
I started cramming tutorials into a picture.. :v:

I do real life paintings and I do have a scanner for them...but uh I guess you'll manage?
I do real life paintings and I do have a scanner for them...but uh I guess you'll manage?
Please submit! I've only received 2 or 3 actual paintings, which is what I really want. (By actual paintings, I mean any kind of painting, whether scanned or digital.)
Just as a side note, I'm not looking for anything with words on it. I'll add any and all text once I've chosen a picture.
It will increase your chances of being selected if you submit without ANY text whatsoever, because that way, it'll be much easier for me to judge your art.
Don't get me wrong, all of these submissions are really nice, but I really do want a painting. It'll take one hell of a good design for me to be persuaded otherwise.

Still heavily WIP. You want colors or should it keep the black and white?

That's beautiful! If you think it would look better in black and white, that's for you to decide. As long as the colors somewhat compliment each other and are not too vibrant, that's fine too.
ahh, Renin.
What is it that your looking for in an album artwork, surely you must have a preferred Idea.
Some people seem to be under the impression that since it's a Minecraft album , the artwork must have Minecraft-like images and theme.
However some seem to be adopting to the images on your site, what say you?
I actually finished a physical copy mock-up yesterday, It was damn hard.

when I say Physical copy I meant the CD Cases are real, but the CD and the album images etc are all fake.
This is the kind of stuff I like:

Things that are somewhat abstract, yet have some kind of recognizable form. What Biscuit-Boy made was actually pretty spot on to what I'm looking for:

Very well.
I made a quick mock with Biscuit-Boy's painting.

I need more submissions, guys!

You win, buy yourself Minecraft.
You win, buy yourself Minecraft.
Well technically, I'd be buying Biscuit-Boy Minecraft. V:v:V
And I have no doubt somebody will make something better, so the contest will be open until I am completely finished with the album. That will probably be awhile, too.

Oh god that's awesome! I can't wait to see what you do with other submissions, you are a talented fellow. Also, in the case that you are defaulted to mine, let me know and I'll send you a signature-free version haha :)
I got an idea for a painting.
I'll go get some work done on it the otter day.

I can easily remove the signature, I just thought I'd leave it on there to give you credit.

Ah, well thank you then, at any rate I think you/I/we should make it a little more subtle. Still, looking forward to what the actual painters come up with haha.
I advise against keeping the signature.

Here's a slightly different version. I also removed the signature to see how it looks.

cover - signature = good.
Also, I dig the vector lines, but I think stylistically it contrasts a little too much? Maybe just down the opacity more so it's nice and faded? Also, I think I see some lighting and texture you're adding, it looks sweet (under your name for example) but brightening the top of the cave exposes my shitty brush strokes haha :d

You're right about the lines. I'll brush them in a bit later to make them look more natural, and if it still looks bad, I'll just get rid of them. :buddy:
Very nice
Thanks for the advice on what you want - I'll try and see what I can do with this thing.
