Because some people want to go through the windshield of their car after getting in a head-on collision at 150 miles an hour.
I wear the bottom part of the seatbeat, Not the part that goes across your chest. From experience it caused me severe whiplash
I look at this as a sort of modern example of natural selection: those too retarded to wear seatbelts die in horrific car accidents and are slowly but surely removed from the gene pool, making the world a better place and furthering our race's evolution.
Seat belts are uncomfortable.

Natural selection doesn't work like that. It's been a while since i had a biology course but AFAIK being too dumb is merely a modification in someone's phenotype and not a mutation, therefore the dumb will not be genetically passed on to their descendants. So the dumb person is not a bad point of the gene pool at all.
However, if you look at it the way that parents are likely to pass on their stupidity to their children you do have a point.

Laying on the side of the road with a severe compound fracture is also uncomfortable.

Point taken. Thank you, my good sir.
if I don't wear one it doesn't feel right
I always wear mine.
if I don't wear one it doesn't feel right
That's what she said.
Some cars have an alarm that goes off if you don't have your seatbelt on, a man in Iceland was so pissed of this alarm, he spent a LOT of money and about a week or so to safely remove it.
He died in a car crash 3 days later. How? Collision with another car, of course that guy who removed the alarm flew straight through the front window. The other guy survived, yes, because of the motherfucking seatbelt.
I ask myself a question.... WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T YOU JUST PUT THE FUCKING SEATBELT ON IN THE FIRST PLACE???
People annoy me so much I am seriously considering to completely isolate me from public life.

Don't worry, dude - eventually, they should all die out anyway.
Unfortunately, retards do tend to breed faster than humans, so it might take a while... :saddowns:

I can't imagine sitting in a crushed car being comfortable either
I wear my seatbelt. Seatbelts are for cool people only.
An individual's body is the individual's responsibility, not the federal government's and not a local government's. If someone doesn't want to be safe with their own body they are fully within their right.
Seatbelt laws set a dangerous precedent, that government has the right to tell you how to live so long as they say it is for your own safety.
I got in a taxi and the fat driver wasn't wearing a seat belt.
I had to go through a damn driving course a few weeks ago to get points off my license and I distinctly remember a picture in the handbook. It was a little heart with a seatbelt over it, and it said:
"We love you!"
"Buckle up!"
Tell me that isn't some fucking Orwellian shit. They love me so much they'll take three hundred dollars to prove it.
Seatbelts saved my grandmothers life.
A few years ago, before I was born: She was driving with a friend, and her friend did not have her seat belt on and she did. Some drunk teenagers were driving, 1 guy 2 women. They did not have their lights on, and they ran into the car. The friend got her head chopped off and my grandma was close to dieing. They got my grandma out in time, so they could bring her back to life with static shock. She died about 3 times, being brought to life each time.
tl'dr: Seat belt saved my grandma from dieing.
I always wear my seatbelt. It feels weird without one. It's also a habit now, I get in the car and the first thing I do is put it on. And there is the added benefit of not having my head fly through the windscreen.
Seatbelt usually make me travel sick, That's why I never used to wear them.
It's uncomfortable

So is a crash
So is a crash
It doesn't hurt you that he doesn't like seatbelts. Mind your own shit.

I'm glad someone pointed that out.
Forcing good habits on the people is not what we have the government there for. Next thing I know a cop will be pulling me over to check if I brushed my teeth that morning. "It's a good thing I stopped you Sir, had we not caught this in time you could have developed gingivitis. Let this ticket serve as a warning to keep those teeth brushed and avoid costly dental repairs."
Seatbelts killed 2 of my cousins, snapped their necks.
The punishment on not wearing seatbelts should be much harder than just a ticket or a fine. Even on the first offense it should be a hefty fine, would send a clearer message for the person's own safety.
Cars do not explode in collisions, EVER.
They don't explode for the most part, but they catch on fire pretty easily if a fuel line breaks.
And I always wear my seatbelt. I love the fact that my car has an automatic shoulder belt so I never really forget. Although, my car doesn't have an airbag, so I could be screwed there.

They weren't wearing them properly, then.

There shouldn't be a punishment at all, it doesn't hurt anyone but the perpetrator. I don't feel like having cops protect me from myself.
[editline]01:14PM[/editline]
Let's not fucking pretend seatbelt laws aren't about the three hundred dollar fines.
[editline]01:15PM[/editline]
Get pulled over by a cop, take your seatbelt off to open the glovebox,
OOPS, that's gonna put points on your license. Boy that'll cost you.
I see your point, yes it is their problem. But they need to know, I'd rather not have a society where someone dies because he wasn't aware of why seatbelts exist. Yes it's retarded that people need to be warned/punished for it, but it serves as a reminder.

Uhh, you do realize you NEED to know how a car fucking works before you get a license, right? You can't get a license if you don't know what everything in your fucking car does.
What the fuck kind of rationale is that? 300 dollar fines just to make sure people know what the flappy belt behind them does? That shit is on the test. That is a piss poor rationalization for controlling people.
