I saw Birth of a Nation. Aside from the obvious glorification of the Confederacy, it is a brilliant film. The movie actually makes you sympathize with the Confederates. It's incredibly old and has no audio (besides the orchestral backing), but I recommend people to watch this.
If you want to know about the birth of modern film this is it.
Because the Confederates were terrible, right?
The only reason they wanted slavery to stay around is because without it, the southern economy would have collapsed.
Not to mention one of the major reasons for their secession was because the government didn't give the stateside government any rights.
I love Stanley Kubrick
Raping a woman while singing "Singin' in the Rain", brilliant.
I found the butter scene from The Last Tango in Paris on youtube. It's not really anything special but here it is in case anyone wants to watch it.

I'm not debating that Kubrick is a genius, but Malcom McDowell adlibbed the specific song.
Alex performing "Singing in the Rain" as he attacks the writer and his wife was not scripted. Stanley Kubrick spent four days experimenting with this scene, finding it too conventional. Eventually he approached Malcolm McDowell and asked him if he could dance. They tried the scene again, this time with McDowell dancing and singing the only song he could remember. Kubrick was so amused that he swiftly bought the rights to "Singing in the Rain" for $10,000. What would a film need in it to be banned nowadays? All of those you have mentioned would not be banned if made nowadays (maybe not allowed in cinemas, but sold on DVD).
In the UK a film is not allowed to be sold in shops if it is considered 'unrateable' by the BBFC. For example, scat porn is not allowed to be sold in shops in the UK because the BBFC class it as unrateable, however it is not banned or illegal, so can still be bought online.
So can a film be banned at all nowadays?

Frankie Muniz?
Ken Park should be up there. It's an independent movie that follows a non-linear plot through a teenager's lives.
The film begins with the public suicide of Ken Park at a local skateboarding park. The film features four friends: Shawn, Tate, Peaches, and Claude. It covers their interactions with their families (or lack thereof), and their friends in a dysfunctional society.
The movie has a lot of controversial stuff:
The film depicts controversial topics such as sexuality, sexual experimentation, incest, teenage suicide and, to a lesser extent, murder.
It was an interesting movie though; the opening scene is a pretty gruesome way to start a movie

And the theatrical release poster:

That wasn't very gruesome brederish
That wasn't very gruesome brederish
I just updated the video, if you saw where it cut out when he sat down watch the updated video. But basically he records himself committing suicide at the skate park. Sure, there's movies like Saw and Hostel that are pretty gruesome, but at this time it sparked some controversy.
I didn't like Birth of a Nation.
Those weren't black actors by the way, they were just caucasians who would put shoe polish in their face to look like them.

Banned for violence in a few countries.

It depends on the country or the organization that bans it. One chain of theaters or video stores might refuse to carry a film while others still do, and I know that some movies still get banned in certain countries because some just have stricter laws than others.
Some films will also be edited differently, removing some of the most graphic scenes in order to meet certain countries' censorship standards.
What about Ichi the killer?

Also, I hate the documentary makers.

Exactly.
Why is this not on the list? I can understand A Clockwork Orange not being on there, but this!? The director was murdered after he made this. He got run over by his own car, which the murderer stole and drove over him, several times.
What was the film about?
What was the film about?
pretty much 18 girls / boys teens/young adults being raped beating and torture for 120 days or killed durning World War II

you know I read alot about saw quit a bit clips from youtube and it made me very sad not sick like most of this kinda flims just sad
It's a recasting of Marquis De Sade's story - just the setting is changed to world war 2. 4 priests lock up a load of kids, all supervised by the military, in a castle (I think). They're tortured, starved, etc. In one particularly controversial scene, a priest (I think they are priests? It's been a long time) shits on the floor and forces a naked teenage girl to eat it. [sp]In fact, she can either eat that, or eat a cake filled with glass, and she chooses the cake, consequently dying from her throat being slashed.[/sp]

This is interesting, it was only not distributed in the UK because Larry Clark (one of the directors) punched the UK distributer after he made some remarks about 9/11:
The movie was not shown in the United Kingdom after director Larry Clark punched and attempted to strangle Hamish McAlpine, the head of the UK distributor for the film, Metro Tartan. Clark is alleged to have been angry over McAlpine's remarks about 9/11. Clark was arrested and spent several hours in custody, and McAlpine was left with a broken nose.
I should have elaborated, the Confederates in the movie were incredibly racist (in reality it glorifies the KKK).
