Dumb bill, won't pass. Something being made a bill in no way at all means that it will become a law, it just means that somebody proposed it as an idea. Anybody who's crying, "I hate my country more every day :'( ," needs to take a moment to review how laws are actually made, so they can see that they're getting worked up over nothing.
they said the same about the dmca
If I was an artist, I would be really glad that people are using my songs in their videos.
this is stupid as fuck

I agree, but the artists usually don't give a fuck. It's the record labels that make such a big deal about this.

Some of the artists are actually completely against what they do. They are rarely given any of the money won in these cases.
I remember (I think it was) Billy Corgan tweeting an article where the RIAA was suing LimeWire for more money than the world even contains. And they flatly stated none or very little of it would even go to artists.
Hey, fuck you Congress. I'm making my UnKnown Moments 5 no matter what. Come at me bro!
I'm getting arrested. :|

"We will sue limewire for... 75 trillion dolllars".
Copyrights should be entirely irrelevant for any artwork or media that's made for nonprofit and/or personal use.
I seriously doubt that the government will have the ability to enforce something like this. You have nothing to worry about.

Not only that it will never pass. If it does you'd be sure there will be riots.
This is literally one of the reasons I hate living in America.

Were the fuck else were you go? The moon? Every country on this planet that have movements to pass these laws. Sometimes they pass, sometimes they don't.
Not only that it will never pass. If it does you'd be sure there will be riots.
you're fucking kidding me
you think any of the fat slothing troglodytes that make these videos will ever even leave their mom's basement long enough to even consider starting a riot
the worst opposition this bill faces is forum complainers, 12 year old darkrp machinamists, and e-petitions that never get anything done.
They won't pass it, it's just absurd.

I didn't say I'm going anywhere else. I just said I hate living here - way to jump onto the idiot train. (Profanity makes you smarter too)
Even if Congress approves it, the President can still veto.
So don't worry just because our government is full of old fuckwits.
It won't even make it past congress. I don't care how old you are, if you know how use the internet you've looked up a song on youtube and listened to it. If they pass this then they are all hypocrites.

You're extremely pessimistic. The majority of people who go on the internet are not some fat geeks or children, they're normal people. The world isn't as stupid as you would like to believe; you're not as smart as you'd like to believe.

Don't worry, let them live in their lies. Every country has it's ups and downs and by saying they aren't in just as bad (or good as I see it) position is us is like saying 'my AIDS is worse than your AIDS'.
Even if it did pass, people would start protesting.
Here's some new RIAA news out yesterday along the same lines,
http://www.zeropaid.com/news/94073/riaa-anonymous-lulzsec-hacks-prove-need-for-protect-ip-act/
"The RIAA says the legislation is necessary to restore order to a “lawless Internet” where hacktivist groups like LulzSec and Anonymous are able to roam free."
Basically they are trying to do what China/ other countries do, in America. And are trying to scare the public into agreeing by demonizing "hactivists".
This is stupid

No government can. This will probably get turned down because of the amount of funds required to make arrests.
No government can. This will probably get turned down because of the amount of funds required to make arrests.
So if it passes, we should just continue everything as normal? And once too may arrests are made, the government completely repeals it.
Fuck this shit if this goes through I'm moving to Sweden. This is way over the line.
I would move countries if this law came to Australia.
I would move countries if this law came to Australia.
I agree, this is bullshit.
One good point to this if it goes through, no more LETTHEBODIESHITHTEFLOOR LETTHEBODIESHITHTEFLOOR
reading some of the posts made by the irrational people in this thread made me lose a little more faith in humanity
I doubt this law will pass; I just don't think they are going to be able to keep a lid on these kind of things
