Dumb bill, won't pass. Something being made a bill in no way at all means that it will become a law, it just means that somebody proposed it as an idea. Anybody who's crying, "I hate my country more every day :'( ," needs to take a moment to review how laws are actually made, so they can see that they're getting worked up over nothing.
get SCHOOLED motherfuckers
Good thing my favorite music is made by 14-18 year olds.
Techno Trance that is not sold on the market etc etc.
How could this be possibly enforced? I don't believe the police would have the unlimited money needed to arrest millions of people!

Even though this bill has bipartisan support, it will never pass. Think about if for a second, all those commentators on Youtube are basically promoting the games that the big companies put out for free. So in turn, this will expose the product and gain attention to the mass audiences and will finally result in potential of boosted sales and extended life on the product. The developers will not even dare to stop these people from sharing their games because they are basically doing them a favor and reaching those people in audience that wouldn't have been exposed to the product in the first place, and possibly increasing their chances of buy that product. The will of the people will simply not allow it.
tl;dr - Bill shalt not pass.
Honestly I hate to admit it but as long as it's profitable and as long as media companies keep assraping everything in sight with lobbyists. the internet is going to keep doing this path, and this path leads over a precipice and drops into an abyss known as Anti-Net Neutrality.
Soon you will HAVE to use your real name. Soon, the internet will have no anonymity. Soon, the internet will fall back into the same stupid pecking orders and social ladders and popular intolerance that plague everyday life.
you're fucking kidding me
you think any of the fat slothing troglodytes that make these videos will ever even leave their mom's basement long enough to even consider starting a riot
the worst opposition this bill faces is forum complainers, 12 year old darkrp machinamists, and e-petitions that never get anything done.
The funny thing is, is that more often than not, things don't get done because of dumbshit pessimists like you. If you're not going to do anything good for the world or for this, then kindly go fuck yourself.
It will never happen.
FUCK congress
Internet Prohibition anyone?
I wonder if the artists even want this.
I seriously doubt that the government will have the ability to enforce something like this. You have nothing to worry about.
The Protect IP Act was passed recently, and this seems like an extension of it. I don't see why they wouldn't' be able to pass it.
Internet Prohibition anyone?
Let me expound; If the government takes away all the *Legal* ways of viewing things, then all of the people who want it won't turn to stopping. They'll look for alternative sources, and small communities that once did small time things like pirating music or movies will grow, and the larger the community gets the easier it will be to have access to things previously banned, like child porn ((like how banning beer use made it easier to get cocaine because dealers were in the large) or, eventually if we keep going down this road, porn in general.).
Hopefully the courts will overturn it when they try to put a 10 year old in jail.

Fixed.
Hopefully the courts will overturn it when they try to put 90% of youtube users in jail.
fixed better than oblivious1 did.
My videos do not contain real music, but rather an impressively accurate emulation of them!
If this passes, all youtube videos will become amazingly more boring, and youtube will die almost within a month.
This is initially for Pre-Released games as i have read but then they said "Fuck it." and went to released games as well...
Lost a lot of their supporters but I think the law should be passed for pre-release games.
Damn governments, taking rights from people step by step. I don't give a fuck if they ban it. I will post whatever the fuck I want wherever I want. I don't care if I get arrested, I'll just sue the government for taking away our rights.
Yay for the VPNs I just bought, I am going to spam shit tons of copyrighted stuff all over the internet if this happens.
Ah shit. Now what will I do for my GMod videos? And my montages I wanna do? Use crap as hell music from artists who are overrated?
This is stupid as hell.
If I get arrested... I'm fucked then.
The sad thing is is that because it's an american bill with american corporations behind it it'll affect the entire world in one way or another.
I just wrote a detailed letter using the template as a base and sent it in. I hope the RIAA like being slapped in the face by logic. Shrink the window to around 1024x678 pixels (or 800x600 if your representative still uses or has recently switched off of CRT's) to see why this letter is considered "detailed".
I am a constituent and I urge you to reject S. 978, "A bill to amend the criminal penalty provision for criminal infringement of a copyright".
This bill would allow the government to lock up Americans for streaming videos or music online, and is so overly broad that people who post videos of their friends singing karaoke could be prosecuted. This legislation is a tremendous overreach and I am deeply concerned by the danger it poses to Internet freedom. This bill also seems to discourage freely reigning hacking groups or "hacktivism" groups, such as LulzSec or Anonymous. A statement by the RIAA confirms this:
"The RIAA says the legislation is necessary to restore order to a “lawless Internet” where hacktivist groups like LulzSec and Anonymous are able to roam free."
In other words, the RIAA are seeking control of the Internet to twist to their desires. As a direct result, if this bill is passed, the RIAA may look for and strike people who upload videos that contain copyrighted content. The RIAA does not specify what they mean by "copyrighted content"; For example, if somebody uploads a video to a public site such as Youtube if their little daughter signing the song "Poker Face" by Lady GaGa, the song is copyrighted content and the video is on public display, which is what the RIAA is trying to stop. However, the RIAA do not know exactly what they are doing to people who play video games.
This bill, if it is passed, discourages uploading of videos of people playing games - usually known online as "Let's Plays" or "speedruns". Lots of other people rely on these types of videos to determine whether they will or will not buy a game.
I am deeply concerned by the danger Bill S. 978 poses to Internet freedom, and what the RIAA may do to further urge their control over the Internet. I urge you to reject this bill.
Everyone copy this letter and send it around to major news outlets such as Kotaku and news channels. The better everyone understands the threat this bill poses, the better our odds of winning.

You wouldn't even be able to make a GMod machinima anymore, since it's copyrighted.
Who the fuck comes up with these stupid piece of shit laws? This will never pass.
Anyone who really thinks this is gonna pass needs to calm down.
Anyone with any kind of foresight would never even think of supporting this. If this passed, first they'd be proposing we go full-retard and add around an extra million people to our already full prisons, supporting judges houses would possibly get attacked, companies would be getting put to the sword for supporting such a horrible law, not to mention the families of kids getting put away for the rest of their days for having a bunch of Youtube videos? Say hello to your newest batch of domestic terrorists guys, you have fun with that.
I can be a paranoid person sometimes, but this doesn't even drum up the slightest amount of fear of passing, it's going *nowhere* fast.
Why would police waste time arresting streamers anyway? :v:
Until you forget to signal when changing lane, giving an officer Probable Cause to pull you over and write you a ticket, only to find out you have a felony warrant for your arrest when he runs your tag
Besides, One of the largest companies that exists would lose out pretty heavily. Google
