Yeah, but I've been in a room that had somebody smoking a cigarette, it had a pretty distinct smell, this just smelled sweet.

it just smelled sweet cause you were smoking it. if i smoke a cigarette it smells a lot different than me smelling someone else smoking a cigarette when im not smoking.
the smell changes because you were smoking it.
if somethings burning there's going to be a smell of burning.

I played Dead Space 2 and it was terrifying so I quickly switched to Minecraft which was amazing.
