its has been for a while.
the problem with sites that use a "voting" system is that the only thing that makes it to the front page is stuff that a majority of site users like. Have something different, even if you are right, and you get downvoted and disappear. So it feeds into this loop of only hearing one opinion, forming an echo chamber, which in turn becomes more extreme over time.
