A friend of mine is going to play CQB with me tomorrow, and wants to get a GBB. He found the WE 1911 (plain single stack) and wanted to know if it is a good buy. I don't know anything about the GBB market so i want to ask you guys if it is any good for the money?
I hear WE 1911's are ok, but single stack is no go since they hold so little gas. Apparently you can't always shoot off a full mag.
don't single stack unless you're willing to invest many dollars into western arms
Alrighty then. Thanks for the info. Ill tell him about the issues with it and let him decide if he still wants to buy it.

Best bet would be a TM or WA, both are pricey but well worth it since they last without upgrades.
Here is what i have to say about the WE single stack 1911. These claims that a single gas fill will not fire off your whole mag are quite simply put, unfounded and not based in reality. Never have i had a problem with gas consumption, and i have no custom parts. The only time you will have a problem is if your mags leak, you have little gas left in the can, it's cold outside, or you do not fill the mag all the way. Otherwise a single fill will get the whole mag + a half a mag extra. Without fail. Add cold and you get just the whole mag. add leak and fuck, why are you using leaky mags anyways? No gas? Get more. Don't fill the mag all the way? Why would you even do that? A WE 1911 single stack is a solid buy for a starter or even avid airsofter who needs a sidearm. Just, for the love of god, get the rubber plated mags. You don't want the lips on the mags breaking, do you?

I know WE can be a hit or a miss sometimes but he loves the 1911 and the price is very tempting to him. I just don't want him to buy it and be disappointed heavily, but i guess you can't learn what is good or bad in airsoft until you actually experience it for yourself.
Do not let him buy a gbb if he has no real airsoft experience. GBB's are finicky as hell, and the problems will really deter him. an aeg pretty much wont fail him, unless he gets a lemon.

He has been in JROTC for close to three years if that helps at all, and likes the style of running and gunning with minimal weight.
get a chinabrand trishot if you really want an idiot-proof cqb gun

I don't think I'd ever reccommend a GBB pistol as a primary to a new guy.

So replace that part. They're not bad for the money at all, besides slight gas issues and shitty metal.
and likes the style of running and gunning with minimal weight.
Just a pistol would be bad for this. I'd say get a compact electric SMG, or failing that, a tri-shot shotgun- but with a shotgun or pistol he will be outgunned by anyone with an AEG.

Since I have no problem going in through windows, flying out of stairways and generally being the sprinty bastard. But the people are correct, pistol for first gun is a bit of an issue. A cheap plastic ICS mp5 would probably rock his boat. Sturdy, tape the mags together and run like stink.
If he's really set on compact, he could get a Scorpion or MAC-11.

In the UK it's somewhat colder, regularly so, and so performance will be diminished compared to what you might be getting. Also, you're basically claiming that someone else's personal experience with a WE 1911 is some kind of fantasy and simultaneously claiming that your personal experience reflects the opposite. Why would someone lie about how it performs?
I told him about the compact AEG's you guys suggested and he is taking it into consideration. He still wants to get a pistol but i know he is thinking about either a MAC-11 or MP5K with a one point sling. Since he would probably need somewhere to put his magazines for whatever gun he might get, i gave him a spare ALICE belt and dump pouch that i had lying around so he wont be fumbling around in his pockets for them.
Make him get a Galaxy MP5K, or a Skorpion/MP7 AEP. My cost for a full build for a max tuned clone MP7 was like $250, and if you wanted to do it cheap he'd get decent performance by leaving it alone, they're solid little guns. I know a few people who run the JG Skorpion and love it as well.
Depends of the site, I only use a high capa and will consistently get kills only using a pistol.
The fact that you can get kills with just a pistol doesn't change the fact that an AEG will have full-auto functionality (if your site allows it), a much higher magazine capacity, and often greater range and accuracy. A pistol is simply objectively inferior, the only advantage it provides is that it's light and easy to use, but something like an MP5K or Skorpion nullifies that advantage.

It's Polish, so yes.
UK IFAPers, is this a good first gun? http://www.airsoftworld.net/airsoft-guns/airsoft-pistols/gas-blow-back-gbb/two-tone-kwa-kp8c-compact-tactical-ns2.html Got no UKARA so I'm really just looking for a gun to fiddle with and shoot in my garden.
That's a great choice, but the general rule of thumb is that AEGs(electric rifles) are better first guns than gas pistols. However, if its just for plinking that's not bad at all. KWA pistols are considered to be very nice, so if you ever get UKARA and start playing you could easily paint that and have an excellent sidearm.
My brother wants a two-tone black/silver 1911. What would you guys suggest? Edit: How is this gun? I Want a silver 1911, I might just get one and a black slide for him.
